False. The attack actually still dictates how long until the fixed kicks in. I just learned this from the manual. In fixed mode it's 1ms, but at full attack, it's like the opposite of a lookahead to let the constants through.
@@geraldbarbato8800 I think maybe you should take a look at manual again when you have a chance. I am talking strictlly about the hardware. I have no idea about the plugin. Maybe that has extra features that the hsrdware does not. I have owned and used this unit daily for over 20 years. Although, I am human and could be wrong...as humans often are. Teezio is one of the engineering goats no doubt. Huge influence in my mixing skills. Rn I'm using a 1073 into a dbx dialed in lightly. Wish I could afford a hardware unit cl1b tho. In the box, I like the shadow hills just as much.

I'm really confused. At 5:40 he says he wants the peak of the beat to hit half way on the meter. But even when he turns it down to -4 the peak of the beat is still hitting at about 90% of the meter.
I have a question. At 4:20 he says he likes to record Chris's Vocals at 70-80% on the meter. But in the beginning he says he likes to have his preamp level around 30-45. This confuses me a bit. I'm not sure how I can relate the levels he is setting for his Neve to my Scarlette 2i2. Is that 30-45 level he is setting on his Neve basically the equivalent to how much I turn the gain knob on my Scarlette 2i2 preamp? If not, then what am I not understanding? And if so, then what if setting my gain knob between those ranges doesn't equate to a 70-80% vocal volume on the meter? How do I get it to? Thanks & hope you can clear up some confusion for me!
The neve Level is most certainly not equivalent to your scarlett interface. Just stick to what he said about hitting the meter 70-80%. Turn the gain on your scarlett accordingly in order to hit your meter in a similar fashion. The main thing to keep an eye on is not to exceed 0dB (clipping) and you’re good.
It's surprising that he doesn't pull down the gain of the beat but instead the volume. Most people say to pull the gain down but I guess he's a legend for a reason
yea all the template videos I did the mixers all use clip gain. I think clip gain is better personally because it also reduces the size of the waveform which makes the sections easier to see if the beat if distorted
Because it's post fader. Turning down the actual volume from the fader won't accomplish much. Some daw uses pre-fader and other post. Pro tools is post fader.
@@JayHeart yeah thats what I'm saying. I have pro tools so I pull down the gain of the the audio file. Also just pulling down the fader doesn't leave any head room. But I think you misunderstood what I typed out lol just odd he wouldn't use clip gain
Literally because it’s the tracking phase, not mixing phase. If he’s gonna be mixing the track he’d most likely trim/gain down the track over using the fader
