Thank you so much for this video, i've started to do a rebuild on my 2.4 H9FB engine (Never attempted this before) The Piston Ring had Failed, so purchased a new kit and this is exactly what i need to get going
Really enjoying your channel. Thank you for taking the time to record and upload all this useful info on the puma. looking forward to having a closer look at your car scissor ramp.
Nigel, can i ask where you get your rebuild manual from? ive always had 300tdis and older, as a new owner to a tdci puma ive noticed no access to a printed parts catalogue or a rebuild manual. looking through your vids i notice you use one on a pc, can i ask what it is? many thanks. ps now a subscriber too after your request.....and great detail in these vids too my friend. all the best. Wayne
Completely brilliant - thanks for taking the time to explain how to use the gauges. For those of us who are less knowledgeable, please could you explain why the bolts are torqued initially then tightened further through an angle - why not to a final torque? Best Simon
Thanks, In my opinion the angle torque is used so all the bolts get pulled down to the same specified setting. When using high torque on bolts, the friction can overcome the rotational force so going to an angle guarantees the bolt has stretched to it's determined length.
Awesome idea with writing what bolt and what size. Never thought of that before You said the crank bolts can be used 4 times. Would the clearance get checked at the factory? If they wasn’t, are you classing the clearance test as 1 cycle. So once from factory. Once from test. Once from rebuild. You any where near Northampton and want to help me out😳
I really thought you'd brought the Raptor, to put that engine in the Puma 😉 Though the TDCI engine looks brand new internally. If you have a Jag of a certain age (like mine), it uses the Alternator & drive belts (and other parts) from a Transit, saves a small fortune on parts...
Hi Nigel, I need your help. The Cam Chain snapped on my Puma 2.4 Tdci. I have started taking it apart and got as far as the top of the valves - which all look level. Can I ask if this engine can survive a cam chain snapping? Do I need to take the head off to look at the pistons? Perhaps we can chat on the phone if you have any time? I am unable to find anyone to help me and you seem to know this engine well. Thanks.

Now I know why you put the extra weight on - to torque that crank shaft down :-) great work Nige, looking forward to the next one.
It's coming off now Phil.

Nah mate, the Raptor only has a 2.0 Bi-Turbo, but it is nearly double the power of the 2.4 tdci at 213bhp and 500Nm of torque!!
Sir can you send me the 2.4 engine workshop manual
Did you consider renewing the oil plugs?

Hi, which workshop manual do you recommend for the 2.4 90/110. Thanks
Will it ever get used again or have you built a glass box for it
Golden Casket.
I assume this is the original cranck and bearings what was the mileage on the engine when you stripped it?
It is original crank, new bearings
Hi is this something you do for customer’s?
Sorry no, I am not a business.
