How Remove Any SCRATCH Off Flat Screen TV with Petroleum Jelly (Vaseline)

  • To remove scratches from a TV screen using petroleum jelly, follow these steps:
Clean the screen: Begin by gently cleaning the TV screen using a soft, lint-free cloth. This will help remove any dust or dirt that may be on the surface.
Apply petroleum jelly: Take a small amount of petroleum jelly and apply it directly to the scratched area of the TV screen. Use a clean, soft cloth or your finger to spread a thin layer of petroleum jelly over the scratch.
Rub gently: Using a circular motion, gently rub the petroleum jelly into the scratch. Be careful not to apply too much pressure or rub too vigorously, as this could further damage the screen.
Let it sit: Allow the petroleum jelly to sit on the scratch for about 10-15 minutes. This will give it some time to work on filling in the scratch.
Wipe off excess: After the designated time, take a clean, lint-free cloth and gently wipe off any excess petroleum jelly from the screen. Use gentle, sweeping motions to avoid scratching the screen further.
Inspect the results: Examine the screen to see if the scratch has improved or disappeared. If the scratch is still visible, you can repeat the process or consider seeking professional help for repair.
It's important to note that while petroleum jelly may help reduce the visibility of minor scratches, it may not completely eliminate deep or severe scratches. Exercise caution when applying any substances to your TV screen, and always refer to the manufacturer's guidelines for cleaning and maintenance. #tvrepair

Worked well with my Vizio D43-D2 LED TV I got on FB Marketplace (seller didn't tell me about the scratches), the screen was scratched so bad it looked like a bobcat got after it and went to town scratching the heck out of it. 😅 It looks way way better after the petroleum jelly (I even let it sit on the scratches overnight). Be sure to just gently wipe off the jelly with a dry microfiber cloth, not isopropyl alcohol/water. But it depends on what type of screen and what type of scratches you have, so try several things, but don't spend too much money on it...the scratches will always be there, the goal is just to make them less visible.

FYI, vaseline doesn't actually remove the scratch, it just hides it. The scratch will come back if you clean the vaseline off thoroughly. It's still better than replacing the entire TV or LCD.
