Ive fixed about 15 tvs in the last 2 years. Since my son's birth I have needed to find a way to be home so I took this little hobby and I have to admit your video was very soothing, relaxing, informative straight to the point and I felt like I was really there with you. My favorite TV fix video ever man! Thank you.
Samsung contractor wanted $900 to fix my 65” LED UHD TV (less than two years old). I ordered some $30 eBay LEDs off eBay for my tv model and followed this guide (slightly different but I found my way) and now my TV is back alive!! Thanks
Follow up, it’s been 4 months and my LEDs are dead again. I’m only getting sound out of the tv and no picture. Looks like I’m ditching Samsung and going TV shopping
Having a bit of a problem trying to disconnect the small plug from the led strip. Tried pushing in the 2 small tabs on side but it won’t budge. Tv repairers said this tv needed a totally new led screen £800. I insisted it was the backlight but they wouldn’t have it. What a rip off they are. Great video. Thank tou
We used this video as a guide to repair our TV. We were quoted between $175 and $300 for this repair which was honestly out of our budget. Thanks to Amazon and you we are back to our regularly scheduled viewing!
This is truly first tier self-reliance that many of us in the western world should take a note on. Ain't nobody gonna fix your screen in the province unless you know how to do it your self. Less e-waste, welldone!
You sir saved my wife and I a fortune. Our television , samsung 65 inch , only 3 years old has expired warranty. Parts on order for 50 $ Canadian. Tv is dis assembled ready for new light strips . Cheers from Vancouver Island .
My nephew had the same thing happen to his 55" Samsung T.V. two weeks ago. I told him it could be fixed and he said he wasn't even going to attempt it. So I went home, ran across your video, and long story short I have a 55" Samsung T.V. hanging on my dining room wall. It cost me a whopping $18.78 with tax and free shipping. Thank you good sir for teaching me something new and thank you for making a video that was so easy to follow.
WOW! You've got so positive and warm attitude! I'm an Engineer, Electronics and Computers, and little younger then you... Even knowing what should be done with LCD screen, I was kinda hypnotized with your warm smile... Thank you for such positiveness!
Thanks for the valuable description of your repair process! I used this process to re-seat the connector for the "bad" LED on my 65" Samsung. Re-seating the LED corrected the problem with my TV. In the process of repairing the LED, I cracked the top corner of the LCD and scrapped the TV. As already mentioned in the video, take care with that LCD and get help when putting the TV back together. The 65 and 70 inch models may be more awkward to handle.
Same happened with our 75". It's really hard to handle and my dad forgot how fragile the panel was and lifted up one corner, otherwise it would have been a perfect repair
This was a very good video. I am gonna repair my 65” Samsung using this guide. The other value I took from this video, is stay away from Samsung. The fact that both your TVs need repair and mine yet my grandfathers Sony lasted over 10 years is evident to me that I chose the wrong brand. Thanks for your help.
I have a Samsung that is only 2.5 years old and already needs the led's replaced. Their quality has really gone down. I owned an old plasma Samsung that lasted 12 years. i will be looking to other brands in the future.
I bought a Samsung 55" QLED tv that started doing this one month after warranty expired. New screen is $450 + labor. So i just put the tv in the closet until i get the idea to replace the screen myself and save on labor. Now i come across your video in my research and you about to save me big money, my friend. I'm going to try and fix my tv
Grwat video, i am also going through this problem, i purchased a used 2016 Samsung TV 43inch 7series, for $50 bucks, never turned on the TV at the place of purchased and i came home to find this problem, many people will tell you, that its better to get a new TV. Because the repair cost is so expensive, but i see that is not. Thank you Sir, for the great video, i learned lot from it, and enjoy that delicious fruit. SEMPER FIDELIS and may God bless you.
Great video. Just fixed a rather new QLED Samsung with half the screen dark and the repair was exactly the same. Amazon didn't have the correct LEDs for this model but found them on Ebay out of China. Parts took about 2 weeks to arrive but the fix was done in no time. Thank You
Very good editing. Very educational. Thank you so much for showing the world how easy this is. My father taught me that everything can be fixed, and so i got a free tv from a thrift store because it wasnt turning on and I diagnosed that it was the back light and I figured id try and see how to fix it my self. Because of you, now i can. Thank you so much i will subscribe to you and your friends after the video!!
Spot on Attempted this today and I fixed it Only problem is I have one tiny line running from the top of tv to bottom Only noticeable on a light back ground Awesome instructions and direction Thank you
This was a very helpful video and I appreciate the education even though I am not up to doing the repair myself being a 76 year old woman and not 'handy'. However, I am armed with knowledge to keep from getting ripped off! Thanks, much appreciated!
Thanks my brother for knowledgeable samsung smart tv repair, I had enjoy watching you, because I am a technicoan too,but also an evangelical Pastor too, I will pray for your health and success in life.
Sometimes I watch these videos to learn if the repair is something I can do or not. So many fragile clips and components...I'm thinking I'm not up for this kind of LCD brain surgery. You should go into the repair business. Few want to do repairs anymore. Given the time-consuming nature and chance for further damage, I can see why. Thanks anyway. I bow to your skills.
Thank you from Detroit. Ordering LED strip now. Haven't disassembled yet, but left 20% of my Samsung went dark today. Guessing this would be the same thing. Chris
Good job James 👍 I personally would have replaced both of them. I've done this before before a few times and don't like doing it. It's still easier than taking most laptop's apart though 😉
Your video helped me repair a similar Samsung in 55" size. $40 for new LEDs and the problem is solved. Reassembly was more difficult than expected plus the bezel refused to stay clipped in. Rather than forcing brittle plastic to comply, a bead of glue around the seam now holds everything together. Thank you!
Mine comes on for a while then goes totally dark. The sound still works. I'm not sure this is a project for me but thanks for the instructions. Best wishes Bob.
I feel like the brightness of different brand led strips wouldn't match %100 but I'm super fussy haha, thankyou so much for taking the time to show this video , much appreciated:)
Awesome video I just changed out my led backlight so n by following urs n the Jimmy videos. Between urs n Jimmie I was able to replace my backlights for 19$. Thanks again for your video.
I really appreciate the video and thats what has prompted to take the job of fixing my tv myself as samsung is charging a fee of £100 just for callout . Thanks alot
Soon I’m gonna be attempting this on a Vizio. Your video is the best one so far. No music playing through the whole thing and not actually showing you how to do it. Thank you. 🙂
Was heading to the City Recycling bin with this Samsung UN49NU6300F .....until I saw this video, ordering the part now (if I can find it), and will watch the Video over and over until it's sticks. Thanks James!!
Rather long and not straight to the point as was said however, the consequence was that it was informative and was not unpleasant at all. Thank you for making this video. 👍
The last two times i repaired a half screen working it was a bank of capacitors aka caps were bad. I just replaced 6 caps and it was back 100%. wish you well Duran the Handyman Dallas, TX
Success! Bought LEDs and power and control boards fm Jimmy... hardest part is opening the case then removing the white bezel as noted. Swapped boards to NO EFFECT (returned) ; only 1 LED was bad. WORKS like NEW... So because I bought a new 43 TV (not trusting my ability... compounded by the 'try to fix since it's already broken mentality) I now have an extra 43... so I bought an xBox for it! NO MONEY SAVED! :). Gotta love America! I do!
Omg I can't believe I found you! U fixed my tv. Its great. I just need the place where u bought the LED lights and the kind of lights with the numbers and everything else that goes with it. I have everything that came with my tv, bit they don't have anything like that in the instructions or about the television. Please help me if you can. Thank you so much. My tv is only like 2 years old and this shouldn't have happened. I hope to hear from you. Thanks again
Did some research on the Samsung tv ...ordered LED strips from aliexpress for a little over 8 dollars US which included shipping...also of note is to not keep the backlit settings on max...supposedly the LED's will last longer. I like the fact that you kept to bezel on the surface and lifted off the backing which had the circuit boards...made much more sense than flipping it over and lifting the glass off from the top.
So i just finished up fixing my samsung 65inch led tv by looking at your video. End result: the tv is back to its life, but again, there's a slight shade on the right side. Also i dont know how, but now i have 2 thin black lines in my screen. I did not touch the screen panel in any way. Just did it as you did it. But, im glad its alive again atleast. 1 thing i noticed, the inner(last) hard plastic you remove before changing the backlight, that plastic was melt from below. Also the previous backlight was burnt abit aswell. I put it back as it was after replacing the backlights. I did test the backlights before putting everythin back in order.
Great job! 65 inch and above are the hardest to do because of size. I now recommend you lower your brightness control to around 50% to prevent another failure of the backlight strips. I believe this is the cause of most of these type failures.
@@MyPIDream thankyou for this video. It was a great help. One of my friend suggested to remove and reinsert the display cables again as that might not be properly inserted which caused the line to appear. Ill try that tonight and also update on it if it worked.
Thank you for the video, this is very helpful. We have this 65inch samsung tv and the issue is pretty similar to what you have in this video. Will try to order the LED strips and maybe fix our tv with myself. Great vid!
I love these repair video`s,i fixed 3 tv`s last month and what surprises me is that people put the backlight fully open on 20,never do that folks around 15 is good enough ,20 blows away the leds in less then 5 years, awesome video Sir.............
Thank you very much for the detailed video! I used your video to replace the LEDs on my Samsung tv to resolve the black screen issue. You saved me 100s of dollars in buying a new TV!
thanks a lot, you are the best lifesaver my grandson hit my new led TCL tv with his toy cricket bat and now he is upset that he can't watch his favorite cartoon show hopefully with your help I can resolve this problem
Just fixed a TV I found being thrown out that had a bad backlight. Thank you sir! Total cost was $36 for LED strips and a remote plus an hour or so of work. I liked the intermission with the fruit. I am trying to grow some ice cream bananas too.
Woke up to my 3 year old, Samsung, 55" TV blacked out on one side, as well as a smaller portion on the opposite side, leaving only a small strip of picture remaining lit. I'm absolutely going to try this fix! No reason for fear...it's already broken and there's no way I'd pay to have it fixed. So, if I am successful great! If not, I need a new TV no matter. Thanks for this video, it is very well shot and you explain things in clear detail. I will update on my success or failure.
Nice job James! I always am a little anxious opening up some of the newer electronics, especially like a TV. Thanks for the lesson, as always enjoyed your vlog!
Thanks so much. My TV has this issue right now. I'll try to do this on my own, since the technical support is kind of expansive in my country. Thanks so much, señor. Saludos y muchas gracias desde Colombia.
Thanks. I tried to remove my LED lights upon doing it I pressed my thumb on it and it came back on, in this case caused me nothing. Appreciate your time and video,
Absolutely great demonstration video. Thanks for the education. BTW the reason I started watching you was your servicing of your Mitsubishi wall unit. From that point on I was hooked. Thanks, enjoy all the PI videos. Dennis from Texas
Thank you so much for your help! Love what you did with the garage!! I'm trying to learn how to do repairs on tvs and have been learning myself for some years. Your video is the MOST clear and straightforward video out there. Thank you!!
All I can say is that your video is great! Just took my 65 inch apart and fixing to order a new backlight. Thank you so much for very good instructions and close up shots. And Happy Easter from Georgia in the USA!
Good video. I wish you had a list of the names of every tool used and a step by step guide. I’m going to try this but I wish I knew what to order to get everything done in one round.
He's probably moonlighting repairs on the side of his job. I probably would too cause there's no way he's getting paid as much at his job as he would on his own side hustle
Thank you so much. 1 st was warranty and that was replaced. But new TV did same thing. And I was about to buy new TV. My sons TV just went out to last night! So I'm glad I found your video. I will have two TVs fixed cheaper than buying one. Again thank you for making this video!!
This was a GREAT video!!!!! I think this will be a fun project for my dad and I when he visits. One suggestion - Add a list of tools to the description. Here is why: I almost didn't watch the video because there were written instructions somewhere else that said you would have to solder some pieces back together after the repair. Since you didn't have a list of tools, I assumed that you would be soldering something at some point. That was beyond what I wanted to do to repair the TV, so I thought it would be a waste of time to watch. I decided to watch it because I was curious as to what needed soldering - which was NOTHING, so this IS doable - YAY!!!! (Another reason to add the list is that there are SO MANY DIY videos that require tools far beyond what most people own - GRRRRR. More like DIY for "repair professionals.") This repair is doable and your demeanor and tone make it feel so possible! A list of tools would help people know that they can do this! This was excellent!!!!
I had a back light issue, tried a few standard things that didn't work so, using an open hand, i hit my samsung 3 to 4 times, firmly not hard, on the back upper left. Worked like a charm 😀
Just wanted to say thanks, because of your video I had the nerve to try and fix my tv. Great clear instructions and now all fixed, I can see all my screen again :) Thank you so much.
I found a small Samsung 24". It didn't have a power supply. I bought that and a remote control on Amazon pretty cheap. But it has a black screen. After watching this video, I don't know if I want to go further! It looks like a lot more work than I thought it would be. It might be worth it for a larger TV, but not a small one.
Thank you for the info, replacing the backlight LEDs did get the screen on my Samsung TV to light up again, but sadly it now has a black line down the middle. Guess it’s just time for a new TV… 🙁
I miss the days when you could just slap the TV up a bit and it would work
😄😄😄

Thanks so much. My TV has this issue right now. I'll try to do this on my own, since the technical support is kind of expansive in my country. Thanks so much, señor. Saludos y muchas gracias desde Colombia.
I liked your video. You are a very cheerful guy and it was a much better experience than I expected watching your video.
Awesome video! I just ordered 2 light strips from Amazon and going to replace them! I bought a new TV but this one will go in the basement :)
How I can find right led stripes for my Samsung qled, and from where I can order
Thanks. I tried to remove my LED lights upon doing it I pressed my thumb on it and it came back on, in this case caused me nothing. Appreciate your time and video,
Nice video my tv needed 1 set of leds replacing. Thought loose connection. Once back together same problem but cracked screen! Oh well worth a try. 😅
Thanks so much!!! This video was extremely helpful. My TV is back to having a full screen.
Absolutely great demonstration video. Thanks for the education. BTW the reason I started watching you was your servicing of your Mitsubishi wall unit. From that point on I was hooked. Thanks, enjoy all the PI videos.

I appreciate that vote of confidence! Thanks!
Thank you so much for your help! Love what you did with the garage!! I'm trying to learn how to do repairs on tvs and have been learning myself for some years. Your video is the MOST clear and straightforward video out there. Thank you!!
Glad I could help!

Thank you very much sir
All I can say is that your video is great! Just took my 65 inch apart and fixing to order a new backlight. Thank you so much for very good instructions and close up shots. And Happy Easter from Georgia in the USA!
Good video. I wish you had a list of the names of every tool used and a step by step guide. I’m going to try this but I wish I knew what to order to get everything done in one round.
Thanks so much for uploading this and making it easy to follow James. I've just followed this and repaired my own TV.
You are a master of many trades! I enjoyed the video...thanks for sharing!
Wow! Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful DIY video. Lucky guy living in the beautiful Philippines. Salamat Po! Peter
That guy from Samsung just disliked this episode...
LOL 😳
Truth ! But His kid has to go without a meal now ..
@@MyPIDreamI couldn't find your part two video to see how much Samsung cost you to replace those strips on your other TV?
Hahaha yup!!!
He's probably moonlighting repairs on the side of his job. I probably would too cause there's no way he's getting paid as much at his job as he would on his own side hustle
OCD dictates that as the new LEDs were slightly different then after all that work both LEDs strips should be replaced but hey what a good job 👍
I'm now brave enough to repair my 15 year old HD Samsung TV now that I know what's inside. It has a wobbly aerial socket (who uses those eh?)
very nice and clear tutorial sir ty ang godbless.
That was absolutely a great video and halp me a lot to fix my one. Thanks a lot
Thank you Thank you Thank you! You`re a fountain of knowledge in things electronics. From computers to this.
Wow, thanks!
Thank you so much. 1 st was warranty and that was replaced. But new TV did same thing. And I was about to buy new TV. My sons TV just went out to last night! So I'm glad I found your video. I will have two TVs fixed cheaper than buying one. Again thank you for making this video!!
Make sure you turn down the brightness in the settings to around 50%. This will extend the life of your LED light strips years. Glad this helped!
This was a GREAT video!!!!! I think this will be a fun project for my dad and I when he visits.
One suggestion - Add a list of tools to the description. Here is why:
I almost didn't watch the video because there were written instructions somewhere else that said you would have to solder some pieces back together after the repair.
More like DIY for "repair professionals.")
This repair is doable and your demeanor and tone make it feel so possible! A list of tools would help people know that they can do this! This was excellent!!!!
I've saved your video and I will definitely be trying to fix my 43 inch myself. Thank you and wish me luck!
Wishing you luck!
Great clear instructions and now all fixed, I can see all my screen again :)
Thank you so much.
Glad it helped!
Hey there from Charleston! (Hanahan actually) Also, I graduated from Myrtle Beach HS in 1975.
Awesome !
thank you for sharing your knowledge
Great video! Thanks a lot for sharing it!
