    I use a twk88 in my 2019 Dodge Challenger. I never knew how much I was missing until I had this installed. It's makes angels sing. Seriously. I send a digital line to it from my factory head unit (from my pac) to my twk88. That unit then sends to my JL Audio RD900/5. This works perfectly after running the TuN software. Get one if you're questioning it. You will NOT regret it.

      Massive improvement in tuning quality with the twk88. I used a MiniDSP before, but tuning was a nightmare with REW. A lot of the heavy lifting was done by the JL's TUN software. It is truly amazing, and JL was nice enough to allow anyone to use it for FREE!

    Before you get your heart set on this setup, make sure your country has all parts available, I'm in Australia and JL Aust has never imported a D8 nor were in a rush to do so. Given they aren't that popular, I had to look far and wide and spend a bomb to get one from the USA, given I'd already bought a local 82 and was committed by then....also a further caveat is that the FIX works ONLY at the volume you calibrate it at, some people report the factory volume works ok, but realise the idea is you set it and then ONLY use the remote knob for true linear volume, there's no guarantee the factory volume will work correctly anymore.

    I used to have a Fix86, before I knew about PAC Amp Pro, mated to a Twk88. The sound summing, especially up top, is much cleaner on the PAC Pro than I ever could get it on the Fix86. The PAC also has a wire harness that let's to clip straight into your factory infotainment center rather than cutting up all of your factory speaker wires. I know they don't have one for every vehicle but I HIGHLY recommend it mated to a Twk88. Would love to see your thoughts on the PAC Pro CAF.

    I've never understood why would anyone ever buy the TwkD8 for $500, when you can buy the Twk88 for $50 more, which is way more flexible and future proof by adding the extra 8 channel inputs!
    I've got the Twk88 and it's awesome!
    I use abQualcom Apt-X HD Bluetooth puck via optical digital audio so technically could get by with a TwkD8, but previous setups used the analog input, like when I want to connect to the stereo for some reason instead of streaming Spotify over my phone

      For me it was space and a cleaner install, pairing a Fix 82 with a D8 with just a short optical cable. Optical cables also make the power lines easier to run around them as they are not going to interfere. I've never seen a fader as necessary, apart from when I had young kids and they might have been asleep.

    My 2011 Acura TL has a factory amplifier with separate front, rear, center, and subwoofer inputs and outputs. However, I found that the front channel input signal is a full range. It doesn't make sense to me why there would be separate inputs if they aren't crossed over prior to reaching the amplifier.

I feel like I can't tune the sub just right. bass only sounds good at a quarter volume. and the mids/high drowned the bass at higher volumes, which is where i like it. what do you recommend ? do I need a head unit or fix and twk or more sub's lol?

    The fix 86 can work fine without the extra remote volume control? Seems pointless to add this if the calibration goes out as soon as the driver adjust the factory HU volume… I really want to get this but adding a remote volume kinda defeats the purpose of maintaining the factory controls.

    I have a 2021 Mercedes-Sprinter with only two channels out (Front L/R) and I'm planning a system going to the vx700/5i. Mercedes' stock system is super basic and obviously won't require the summing of the FiX 82, but it's unclear to me if the input signal is heavily tuned by the OEM, or relatively flat. Considering how little thought they put into the factory sound, I wouldn't be surprised if it's not even tuned for the 99-cent speakers in the doors. That would render this FiX 82 unnecessary. According to JL, OEM "digital-domain corrections can vary from subtle to dramatic, depending on the amount of equalization engineered into the factory audio system." Is there anyway to know? Or do I need to install in TuN to know (and then possibly return the FiX 82)?
    Another options is to get a simpler, far cheaper Kicker 47KEYLOC, which will just ensure an equalized signal is sent to the VXi amp. This doesn't have multiple channel summing of inputs (which I don't need since the Sprinter only has Front L/R), and doesn't have time alignment fixes, but would Mercedes have introduced time delay to front L/R channels? Maybe... the L/R Fronts are installed with the 49-cent tweeter separate, so would they really have time delayed the mids versus the highs? Who knows? Only person I can think of is Mark...

      @j0hn22 Год назад

      Sorry, no. I put the project on hold and installed an Atmos system in my house with an Integra 8.4 (7 surrounds.4 ceilings.2 subs) instead. I did conclude to just go ahead and buy and install the JL Audio FiX 82 since I'll be ripping the whole interior apart, and it's likely Mercedes just loaded a factory tune from another model, so I'd guarantee a clean signal before tuning it again with the JX700-5i. I figure it'd be best to match JL-Audio w/ JL-Audio.@@derekhallett6946

    Ok so im just trying to understand if this is basically only for cars that have not had their factory head unit replaced with a assumably high-quality unit with high band EQ settings and yes I know not as good as a dedicated device, but low pass filter, high Pass filter, etc. I’ve always thought it was only for having the ability to adjust say a tweeter versus the mid range of component system or something. Are there any other benefits that will be noticeable to someone who has high band EQ 5 V output, time alignment, and a bunch of other features I haven’t used really. I’ve been considering buying a AC unit Trying to research If it’s going to be more benefit than what I’ve already dumped into this full replacement system

    Need some advice, current car is a Tesla X with the UHFS system, although i'm only running 8 speakers, 3 way active in the front, coaxial in the rear doors and an aftermarket subwoofer. Amps are VX800/8i for the speakers and XD600x1v2 for the subwoofer. In trying to run a wired DAC as an auxillary, I took up inputs 7/8, however I believe since the Tesla head unit is limiting the bands to each channel, I need to sum the frequencies first so I can redistribute them at the VXi back out to the appropriate channels. I also want to control the XD amp signal so when I switch to a different preset (running my DAC), that I can still control my sub. Right now the sub is on an LCi1. Any advice?

    • @CarAudioFabrication

      Depends. Usually 3 sets would be front, rear, sub. There will be controls on the head unit like fade that change front and rear level, and subwoofer settings on head unit that impact subwoofer output. But you could just use the front signal for instance, and in software of something like a TwK break that signal out into different outputs. Really depends on the application.
