Maybe it’s because I was in LA last week, but besides the smoothie the prices aren’t that outrageous to me 😅 the food mostly looks like it’s high quality and the portions aren’t too ridiculously small. LA prices break my brain 😂

Stevia is the weird taste. Kefir is just a fermented drink made from milk or in this case coconut milk. That was not the weird aftertaste trust me. Also why they need stevia or xylitol...makes zero sense to me. They are sweeteners. Outrageous price though.
I find xylitol has a stranger taste than stevia. Stevia melds into other ingredients very well and loses any identifying taste. But all taste buds are different. I like stevia mixed in just about anything. Xylitol assaults me in any application.
@@nancythomas5387 To me and my partner, stevia has this distinct "sugar by Bath & Body Works" taste, and I like stevia. We can definitely pick it out of anything, and then we look at the ingredients and we're like, yup there's the stevia. Monk fruit's even worse
@@Lemit Yeah, monkfruit tastes bad to me, too. I've found Stevia to be the least chemical of the alternative sweeteners, but again, my taste buds will differ. An added plus is that Stevia doesn't have massive effects on my GI system. Given the choice, I would choose honey...

Other than the shake, the prices weren’t super super crazy. For me, it would be a once in a while visit just to satisfy my curiosity for what they’ve got. Meh…your reactions overall weren’t overwhelming though 🤷🏻♀️

Not really, a venti starbuck drink is around $10-$15 depending on the add on. At jumba juice a large smoothie is around $10. So yeah, drink can get pricy.

To be honest people make fun of Erewhon and their prices but they honestly are not that bad considering the area they are in is very expensive and their customers are people that live in $5 million to $100 million houses. As someone that went to the University of Michigan, if you are familiar with Zingerman's Deli their prices are on par or higher than Erewhon.

I’ve heard of that store and I don’t know if it’s the area that makes everything so expensive or they just overcharge to make it more appealing to the rich and famous. I would never get sushi from a store. I am scared of how long it’s been sitting there and feel like a restaurant that specializes in sushi grade seafood would be better. I’ve had food poisoning enough that it scares me 😂. I saw a recent video of someone near LA that filled their SUV with gas and said it cost $150?! I just filled mine and it was $50 and thought it was outrageous.
yeah gas here is going up all the time! but I do like getting salmon fillet from Costco, it's not called sushi grade but it's safe 😂

Do you have ALDI or LIDL stores over there? They're supposed to be cheap supermarkets in Europe (before the recent inflation waves) but maybe they have different products and target a different demographics in America. How about try food from them? They're german and Herbert is probably familiar with their products.
