I can really appreciate how you're not taking any short cuts with this. Many would have stopped at the dry ice blasting, but the hard and time-consuming work you're putting in polishing the engine is really paying off. Very well done, Scott.

I would have completely disassembled the engine, cleaned it with sovent and properly rebuilt the engine, new seals, gaskets, etc.. The engine has been sitting so long that it needs a light rebuild anyway!!!! I think this was a waste of time and resources. I love the video and content though...❤😊

I remember a couple years ago, I went to the store with my grandma and when we were leaving, there was a old Ferrari that was rotting ins someone's front yards being covered in tall grass. I really should ask my grandma if we can see the car again to see if someone bought it or not.

Have watched a few 'Ice Blast' cleaning videos, but if I had one I would clean my car, and my neighbours just to see their faces from the transformation.
The benefit of no additional residue is massive.

I used to work with a company that manufacturers and sells dry ice and the dry ice blasting machines you're using in this video.
Companies like Serv-Pro (which is a fire restoration company) used them a lot because there was never any secondary residue to clean up.
The ice would simply evaporate from it frozen state of -109°F/-78°C which is why you need protection when working around it.

That's a great video especially for me seeing it after my wife (95% my wife did it due to my disabilities) and I spent about 3 hours cleaning the outside of our caravan with nothing more than a garden hose and sponges. We still need to do a lot more cleaning and we have only just started this evening looking at getting a Karcher pressure washer to finish the job off. So in a way it would be a gift to my wife but will also make it a lot easier for me to be able to help her a bit more than I could today.

Glass beads in a blasting cabinet is the best results for cast aluminum and steel.
Glass will not contaminate the surface , leaves original cast marks and takes little time to get "like new" castings.
Dip the parts in paint stripper tank (I used crysilic acid ) rinse with water and blow dry, glass bead the parts and voila!
Clear coat with matt-flat-gloss as needed and finish will be bright for years.

We used Cold Jet at my old job to clean matched metal mold dies (up to 50,000 pound tools) and large screens for silk screening among other odd bits. It had to be done in a special closed room and the person operating had to be in a full environmental suite with pumped in air. Oh, and it was LOUD! The machine made its own dry ice pellets. It is now automated on a robot arm. We had also had a laser ablative system that was supposed to replace the dry ice machine, but that got nixed at the last minute for some very stupid reasons as it worked very well. The little guy you were using does an OK job for light stuff, but as you saw, was not up to the task of the amount of grime you were up against. Honestly, while messy, walnut blasting would have been better.

Honestly I was looking for a hidden block in the background that you'd swapped out, the ease at which the Ice cleaner ripped through that grime is impressive as hell. Could do with that pressure washer for our teenage kids they might finally understand what hygene is.

I'd use that Karcher Ice Blaser to not only keep my vehicle (especially the underside) in pristine condition, but also for cleaning the siding on the side of my house. I have a one hundred year old house and that machine would be excellent in cleaning all sorts of materials on my historic home without inflicting any unnecessary damage.

Wow that’s what you call getting a job done, and no messing with fluids and sprays.. I’d be ice blasting my boat engine and trailer I would then move on to blasting and cleaning the engine in my T5, I have done many trailer restorations and this again would be bang on.. top work

I'm surprised they didn't insist you wear breathing PPE to deal with all the dust and dirt that will be thrown into the air.

Like the idea of using dry ice. Much better than sand. Easy clean up..

Engine is looking good, it's coming together slowly, I'd use that ice blaster on my classic mini I've got in the garage that needs some love

Great job! If I had access to a Karcher ice blaster I would use it to clean up the engine and gearbox and front suspension on my mates 1979 Maserati Merak SS rebuild project - we’ve just got the engine out and are sorting out what work it needs. RHD Merak SS is very rare - about 56 left in the UK of which all but about 20 are SORNed. Like you we’ve a big task to get it back on the road!

Just now catching up after being really busy for a while. It was almost therapeutic watching that engine coming clean. I've used lots of media blasters, but never dry ice - would like to try that one day on my own build. You know, in my spare time.

Mate! That engine is looking amazing. Its a credit to you and the Karcher team. I'd use it on my brothers Holden VH Commodore engine. Hasn't been cleaned since the 80's.

Karcher Ice Blaster made a great job. Would be useful for underarch cleaning on my whole fleet but especially my MX5.Would allow me to de-rust the suspension.

Karcher are the best on the market. I would use mine for all cleaning applications, car, bike, paths, walls fencing, boat (if I had one lol). The list of options is unlimited.

Impressive piece of kit that ice blaster! For the competition prize I would go for the old favourite patio as have never found a jet wash that can clean in well enough, come on Karcher do your stuff!

Great video and superb result from Karcher with the ice blasting. I know the new K4 would help me so much with keeping mine and my wifes cars clean between detailing my old K3 is getting very long in the tooth now and has not got long for this world now so a new k4 would be such a treat. That engine is going to look so good after all your efforts and I for one cant wait to see that beuatiful ferarri back to its best.

Amazing job on the engine. Ice blasting is the future. Would be good to see what the smaller model was capable of. If i had a Karcher pressure washer i would be using it to cleaning out the brickwork on my house. Would tala a fair amount of time but it would make the place look like new.

So if I had that ice blaster I would definitely use it to restore old stuffs from tools, cars and art pieces. 🥰
That would be so satisfying to me.
