Tainted Blood is a song I co-wrote with Eric Bloom on the 2020 Blue Oyster Cult album, The Symbol Remains. It's also become part of our live rotation which is a huge honor for me. The song has an outro solo where I get to stretch out a bit. After a few requests, here is a video description of the guitar tone used and a step by step walkthrough of the solo.
If you own a Line 6 Helix, here is a link to download the live tone I use for free:

If you learn to play this solo or even part of it, I'd love to see it! Please tag me on social media. To find my social links, visit my website: www.richiecastellano.com

BOC fan since 1976. Still the best band out there, and the new album is almost unbelievably great. Rock on. ✌

This is like David Blane explaining how he made the Statue of Liberty disappear, except at the end of the reveal, this is still some sort of dark sorcery.

This is outstanding... thank you for this. I can play every individual lick, but there's no way i can string them together like that, at that speed. BUT... this gives me stuff to work on for days. All sorts of licks to "borrow" from you in here, even if you borrowed them yourself. And some very cool twists on ideas I use all the time... especially Clapton and Brian May!

I find you play a lot like Michael Schenker. But as you say, it’s an amalgam of all the other players you mention too, including adding more modern sweep picking techniques. Schenker in the sense of melody and emotion, though. There are many great players who can play fast and technical, but have limited emotional impact. A great player touches the heart and soul. You’re a great player - as was/is Buck.

What's cheesy about chorus? Screw this 'purist" mentality from post-80's "players". A chorus, as with anything else, is a valuable tool when one needs it. Not to mention it's one of the most tone-enhancing devices ever created. Listen to Van Halen's "Source of Infection" with headphones and tell me chorus/harmonizer is "cheesy".
Also, with the proper chorus setting, using one in a 3-piece rock/metal band will actually pseudo-simulate 2 guitarists. EVH was a master of this... so was Randy Rhoads. Pro rock/pop guitarists from multiple decades used chorus to enhance their sound on more hits than one can count or remember.
Sorry, Richie... no offense intended. But I get a bit tired of hearing 90's plus-era "players" make fun of chorus. It, like anything else, is a tool in a players arsenal... period.
No apologies needed for using this mood-enhancing effect, Richie. Who cares about the critiques of armchair guitarists, pro or amateur, anyway?
