    I forgot to comment on the last video I watched but thank you for talking about the fear of your SO leaving. I struggle with anxiety and I'm very insecure and most of the time my boyfriend has been away I've been afraid hes going to meet somebody at basic training and shes going to be better than me. Watching your video really helped me see everything a different way. Your videos are helpful not only for military relationships but also for all relationships. :)

    I have so much love for you guys! I would love if you guys did a part 3 and talked about some good insurance or credit card deals for the military. I know there are a lot of great deals and I want to take full advantage of all of them.

    My tip isn’t military specific but my family rarely buys bread from the grocery store instead we have a bread store that sells bread past it’s expiration date but it’s still good. It works really nice for my family of 6 cause me and my siblings sure eat a lot of bread. To ensure the bread lasts longer when we buy a lot of it we freeze it! The bread at the bread store costs $2 a loft vs. $4 at the grocery store.

    My fiancé is the same way with the not asking for military discounts! Love this vid, we still have a bit of deployment left but I’ve been working and saving so much!!! Once he gets back I’m moving to NC and the wedding shortly after. So excited for everything :)

    I didn’t know about turning in leave for pay? My husband has nearly 40 days racked up.

    • @BritCon2
      @BritCon2  6 лет назад +1

      😊
      Yup! However, it's not until you are about to get out of the military. So at the end, if you have 30 days leave racked up, you can take those so you get out earlier, or you trade them in and they pay you!

    Another tip for retirement is to increase the percentage you have taken out of your account every year when (and if) your pay goes up. The 2018 pay increase was 2.4% so you can increase your TSP percentage by 2% and not see any decrease in pay. You can also do this when you make rank and hit your 2 year incremental increases. A lot of people find it hard to save for retirement because it's hard to lose money from their pay checks but doing it this way increases the savings every year with little consequence to your take-home pay.

    When I got out of the Navy back in 2003 I had 12 days of leave accrued. I believe I got about $100 a day back if I remember correctly. This was a great video thanks for sharing!

    I love this video!! Thank you so much for these tips, I’m getting married to my best friend Chris in March and he’s in the army and it’s still pretty new to the both of us, as he enlisted just over a year ago. This video was extremely helpful ♥️
    P.S. You guys should also check out planet fitness if you have that near you. I pay $20 a month and I have unlimited guest privileges so my fiancé can always come with and I can use any gym and it comes with all the perks! (Basic membership is just $10 a month)

    Hello, thank you for your videos! They are so encouraging and super helpful. We're a Christian couple too and I am a new Navy Wife and my husband is going to Navy Boot Camp starting September 26th, 2018! All praise to Jesus! We're excited for this next season.
    When you mention "regular retirement," does my husband have the option to choose that? Or is he automatically enrolled into the Blended Retirement and as he does his time, he will later have the option for regular retirement? Can you sign up for regular right off the bat? I appreciate your help. Thank you so much!

      It will be in his paperwork when he files for the move. He can request it in advance too. You can receive the DLA and per diem in advance. One of them will be paid in full and the other one will be a percentage (you will get the other percentage later after the move) I just can't ever remember which one is 100% or which is partial. Good luck with everything!
