I think we’ll see this incident from a different POV eventually & find out that the witches decided to not let Osha go & it turned into a fight. The Jedi killed the witches & used the coincidence of the fire to cover it up. That would explain Torbin’s apology in the last episode.
Can I say in my opinion if that is true, (Which I am sure to an extent it is) it was a waste to give us this episode now. This is all mostly information we already had. I think the episode would have been better served as a one hour episode giving us both versions of the story at once. That is unless another goal of this episode was to paint the Jedi in an extremely shady light.
I wouldn't be surprised if Jedi mind control was used to get Coral or another witch to trigger the Jedi into eliminating the coven or trigger the coven into wiping each other out. That would explain the general shadiness of the jedi and themes of hypocrisy in the show. In turn Coral being the sole survivor of the massacre could have then mind controlled Mae to start the fire out of vengeance. Ultimately there are many ways this could play out.
Of course it is. God forbid a character have a scar or wound to just imply a storied past. No, when imbeciles write screenplays, they literally have to have causality braces
She doesn’t, I believe osha is one of the 4 Jedi Mae is hunting, not sol, cuz for all she knows osha went on to become a Jedi, she wouldn’t know she left the order. But she knows she survived somehow.
If it was "Koril all along"...why did Torbin chug the poison? This was all very "Cult vs. Cult" to me....a lose/lose scenario. Become a witch...get slaughtered by the Jedi...become a Jedi...get slaughtered by the Sith. A long time Ago in a galaxy far, far away ....force sensitive children were screwed.
Which wouldn't really be a problem if we were shown why/how she became that way. But just...making her like that and telling the audience to accept it without question is ridiculous
Am I the only one bothered by adult Osha and Mae being played by the same actress, but the young versions are played by sisters that are definitely not identical twins? Pulled me right out of it...
Why are the adult twins identical but not their younger versions? Like, what the hell…They went from fraternal as kids to identical as adults. How do you screw that up? If you couldn’t find identical twins to cast, then why not just use one girl and then duplicate her image on screen or whatever like they did for the adult actress or like Lindsay in Parent Trap? This couldn’t be done on an $180,000,000 budget? Seriously!? How lazy. Disney, I would excuse you for casting fraternal twins if it paid off in the end because you found extremely talented child actresses to play these roles, but ya didn’t, did ya?
i'm sure that would've been their preference, but you'd be hard pressed to find a young actor who could believably play both parts. especially acting against themselves.
Coruscant being a dark side planet makes sense. Maybe that's why the Jedi built their temple on the ruins of a sith temple. They probably thought they could stamp out the dark side/sith completely. Not knowing there are sith/dark side users that hid in the outer rim & bide their time. Until plaguis & palpatine + maul were finally revealed in the PT, ready to implement their plan to annihilate the Jedi Order.
Well.. What you said is exactly why the Jedi built the temple on Coruscant, over a Sith temple. They thought to "purify" it. It only wound up corrupting them.
@@alexp601he did that to hide himself. A planet so strong in the Dark Side was the perfect place for someone like him (the literal avatar of the Light Side) to hide.

If Palpatine couldn't pull it off there's no way they'll allow the girls to do it. Disney pulls some stupid moves but that would just be a bit too much
MT, thanks for your good work. Really enjoyed how you added content to the evolving story. Also, like your positive upbeat delivery. The editors are doing wonderful work as well.
Here's how I've decided to account for this "problematic" show in the greater lore of Star Wars: 1) The Acolyte is set as a prequel story relative to the original six movies. 2) The original six movies do not make any reference or mention of anything related to The Acolyte. 3) Therefore the net effect of The Acolyte on the original core story arc is completely nil which means it's effectively meaningless/pointless. Problem solved.
6? movies... There's only 3 originals, and then everything George Lucas ruined by creating a prequel trilogy, that had garbage writing, bad acting, and relied heavily on CGI that created the aspects we complain about with the new direction Star Wars went..who am I though, besides a toxic star wars fan that only uses the biased opinion on what "era" of Star Wars that I grew up with?
Good analysis - but the problem is that obviously much more happened with the Jedi. Torbin, the young one, came out of this with a scar and he did something he was so guilty over he meditated for 10 years then killed himself. I really hope the big reveal isn't that the Jedi caused the fire, murdered the witches and blamed a little girl for it all.
That would remove Mae's agency and just make her a puppet. It's much better to have her be in control of her actions and live to regret it, instead of saying 'someone made me'.
@@alexp601 But it would also go with Star Wars lore of having some "big evil" behind the whole thing, which usually involves some sort of mind control. Yall really get extra critical of Star Wars when it's not wrapped around a Skywalker lol, but ok.
@@teerex1376 I’m not being extra critical, I’m just saying it’s stronger storytelling to have a character choose their actions, rather than being mind controlled. They could go the route of mind control, sure, but just like how Wanda being turned evil by the Darkhold in Multiverse of Madness changed her character and removed her agency, turning her in a puppet of an evil book, this would also weaken Mae’s character.
@@alexp601 oh well I didn't take Wanda that way, I took it as her grief was her motivation and the Darkhold was simply pushing her to be more and more extreme. Guess I don't really see the problem with a darker power being behind the scenes, it's used all the time in stories. I don't see how it weakens the character of the one used, it just shows there was a "true" evil at work... but the one who did the crime still usually holds the guilt. Pretty sure whenever Wanda returns it'll be in a redemptive arc.

And the haters like you, still went on a tirade about how woke the whole series is and that they are pushing a political, racial, and sexist agenda. Some of you went so far as to say that female lead characters aren't popular at all and having any female leads is what's killing the star wars franchise. Truth is we can't talk to you, we can't reason with any of you or change your minds. You haters live in your own echo chamber, so the best thing to do is, not even waste our time trying to find any common ground with you, just let haters like you go on hating.
I really enjoyed seeing the clash of cultures in Star Wars. The Jedi of course have been the main focus of this franchise forever so I really liked seeing how other semi-religious groups across the Galaxy react to the Jedi enforcing their way of life onto people across the galaxy whether they like it or not. Seeing the Witches have no choice but to give in to the Jedis demands because they would face serious consequences from a galactic government they're not even officially a part of really fascinated me. Learning about the sociopolitical climate of the Star Wars Universe is what's keeping me very interested in the show so far. I think this is the strongest episode so far, and I hope the show can keep its decent momentum.
@@daviddelarosa4955 I disagree. There's more to chew on here, in my opinion. Like I hate the sequels for the most part because it's mostly just mindless events after mindless events. Seeing the Jedi in a place/era where everyone has to abide by their requests because of their religious dominance has me very intrigued.
@@Skabanis I've noticed a trend. Look at the "Ascension Ceremony" when Osha and Mae are doing their ceremony both the blue and red moons of Brendok are conjunct in sky above them. So they are neither a light or dark side user of the force. They practice the "Bindu". Also when Mother Anisya tries to forces push both the twins. Mae stand in front but Osha stand behind her and join their force energies and Mother Anisya cannot force push them over.
No because if a being is manipulating the force to create life, that is unnatural and something Palpatine would do. Which most likely how he created Rey.
The theory of each how each planet itself is either dark or light sided vergence in the force; could that also help to explain how Palpatine masked himself from the Jedi when he was on Coruscant? It was stronger so Palpatine could use the dark side a lot easier?
Dude….MT you do such a great job with these breakdowns. Thanks for the great work! Question…you think there will be any darth maul connections with Coral given that she looks to be of the same species?! I do think Plageus will be somewhere in here.
There's also a Force vergence (and a Dark side one at that) under the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. I actually liked this episode a lot, but I did not see why they blatantly needed to copy the Bunta Tree from the Avatar Soul Tree. But I can't wait to see Darth Plagueis show up and steal the secret of Immaculate Conception, or maybe he taught the witches!
Or "stole" the tree idea from the Ellcrys in The Sword of Shannara, or the World Tree in Norse Mythology, or Adam & Eve's The Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil in the Bible...
I just wish we didn't have 2 wait 2 weeks to continue the actual storyline. This shouldn't have been an entire episode since they didn't actually give us answers. This all should've been seen through quicker flashbacks throughout the story
I guess I’m confused with the force now? I thought the force itself is neutral but you are light/dark sided with how you use the force. If you bend the force to your will it’s dark but if you abide by the will it’s good. That being said, how can planets themselves have dark side force? If the force is neutral shouldn’t all planets have neutral force energy that can be used in different ways? Maybe I’m understanding it wrong idk
@@joshcordeiro368 mostly I mean SW has too many cooks. Can't keep a universe with tight rules with a thousand writers. Tolkien also didn't explain the magic system any more than was needed it was a "soft" system. Star wars has writers bouncing back and forth from hard (strict rules) and soft magic. Some rules get forgotten or dropped. Tolkien also had a (kinda boring) book that laid out 1000s of years of history, motives, and power struggles between magic beings and forces. SW has cartoons and books and movies throwing in new force rules out of nowhere sometimes.
Most worlds are neutral, however, some like Mustafar and Exegol for example have had a big dark side event (or many) which can leave "traces" and corrupt areas. Same with the light side.
The Jedi are not all good. That's why many from the Jedi side cause the most damage when they go dark. When you take away emotions, it's easier to destroy things around you, and convince yourself, your actions are right. Aka the Jedi. That is why the Jedi are the worst to police the galaxy. If you have zero emotions, you have no connections to others.
im convinced Disney figured out that hate watching produces more viewership and free sponsorship via RUclipsrs and are very aware of how this show is being made
Except it doesn’t, rage baiting is a terrible long-term strategy that isn’t at all sustainable. It’s more likely that shareholders were sold on a direction by pseudo-activists comprised of gender-studies graduates and fan fiction writers who believed that they could somehow expand into an entirely new demographic without alienating their established one. We’ll move on from this once it’s abundantly clear that there is no positive shift incoming to make up for the (supposedly) short-term losses, which is what they were counting on - and why we usually see a public temper-tantrum against fans from creative leads who now have to explain why the things they said would happen aren’t.
Editing on this video is top tier. I never really noticed editing before but how it’s cut so contextually and rhythmically with MTs voice is music to my… eyes?
I just dont get why people cant let the story and lore play out before the major criticism. I loved a secret coven of force weilding witches creating force children through dark magic. Kind of like how Anakin was created. Wonder who taught who how to do that, hmmm.
It's not the story they criticize. It's the choice of actors. Ignorance and hatred so intense it even ventures into the realm of fantasy for people who don't exist and are not real...
Because nothing ever makes any sense man. Let me start here, they explain that they live secluded because if they don’t they’ll be hunted down/persecuted by those who think their use of the thread dark heavily implying Jedi. So why would Osha want to be a Jedi? Ohh we don’t know because they don’t develop any characters. We don’t know anything about anyone. The Jedi Council refused to allow Anakin to be trained before Qui Gon died and only agreed because it was Qui Gons dying wish. They thought he was too old and had to much baggage coming from slavery. So how the hell would they allow Osha to be trained? Thats absurd. Its Star Wars why do we have to retell stories so much, Anakin didn’t have a Father, thats what made it so unique, don’t do it again. Also why do they look different as kids and not as an adult? Ohh because as kids they’re on the same screen and in the present their not. How did the fire spread all over fucking rocks? What? Did the Jedi murder them? The Jedi had to kill them there was no burn marks anywhere. No way Jedi would commit such a vile act, even then I don’t care about these Jedi, all you’ve showed me is their deaths, so if they did kill them why the hell would you never build their character and make me hate them? It’s the same way they had one security guard for a Jedi Master killer in ep 1, and then somehow she survived the crash? What? I love Sol and I hate his actor is stuck in this crap. You can call it nit picking but all I do is ask why when I watch and when I ask “why would so and so do that?”. I thought the Thread was kinda cool wish it was built upon. This should have been ep 2 and ep 1 should have been building the witches and jedi characters and learning their motivations. Again though there are no motivations for anything other than pushing the story forward. I don’t care about genders and who plays what, I just want good consistent story telling.
Unfortunately with the birth of RUclips and social media being made into a career, there is a lot of money in farming outrage and stoking negative outlooks as it causes discourse. I blame the algorithm and how no matter if you get thumbs up or thumbs down or whether comments are negative or positive, it all counts as engagement which makes the content creators money. It has caused all this toxicity to flourish.
It's way more than the story (though I wouldn't be surprised if they were the types of book readers who toss the murder mustery novel in the trash after the first chapter because, well, it's a murder mystery novel and you have to read the whole thing to find out whodunnit) they are ideologically opposed to diversity and LGTBQ+ lifestyles. They are right winged Republican Christians who have black tar running through their veins. They identify with Luke the farmer but can't identify with a coven of witches, that's way too blue state big citiy diverse cultures and whatnot for them to handle.
@@skully5063 Dude. It's a murder mystery whodunnit. This show is far over your head, it's obvious. EXCELLENT breakdown as usual...I wanna add something that was not brought up from when Saul got that prisoner to quiet his mind ...if you go back to that interaction I CLEARLY heard the prisoner say JUST BEFORE he told Saul what happened to the girl...'The jedi killer is evil...I sensed her darkness...beware' ...so who is that violent criminal and how does he sense this about Osha?!!
👀 "Don't trust your eyes", my theory: someone made Osha believe Mae was at the door, but that wasn't true. And the witches died not because the Jedi killed them, but because their power source at the temple was keeping then alive (that's why they didn't want to leave, and why they needed new lives to maintain the coven knowledge).
Bro, I WISH I was taking Disney money, you kiddin' me?! That'd be baller as hell. But nah. That's just a bit of fan-fic on your part unfortunately. Great breakdown, MT!! Excellent Theory on the Big Bad! Thank you to the Editing Team for all their hard work and dedication to bringing us so much AMAZING Content!! Cheers!!!
MT loses the shortest straw challenge and has to review this wonderful piece of TV. Okay so the Jedi roll up and are like "you have children here" - did anyone in the boardroom say, "hey this is pretty creepy stuff"? Trinity shows up and demands to see the kids? Who in the 2020's wrote this junk? Spaceballs should not be a Sci-Fi baseline but Mel Brooks was onto something.
I mean, if I saw a cult illegally using kids, I'd be suspicious as hell. Also its likely and even hinted that the jedi have another motive/reason to be there
This show and the last years of movies have crapped all over what i grew up with as a child watching Star Wars with my family and friends. Seeing the movies, reading rhe books and collecting the comics was an event at times. I do understand that I i am no longer a demographic that is wanted by these creators but its a shame to not really see who is supposed to replace the passion I and others who grew up with these stories had for Star Wars.
How old are you? I am 52 years old and was 5 years old in 1977 and I have seen everything. Just curious because I had more problems with George Lucas ruining his franchise than anything Disney has done.
And I was 6 years old in ‘77. I LOVE the OT. I adjusted to the prequels and found plenty to like in the sequel trilogy. Rogue One was excellent. The Mandalorian & Ahsoka are great, Andor was beyond incredible. Boba Fett had some moments and even Kenobi wasn’t terrible. I would really like a thoughtful explanation of what it is people keep just absolutely hating about these shows & movies. How EXACTLY is the content from the last few years “crapping” all over what you grew up with.
I think the Jedi killed the witch's when they came for Ocea. Mother Kora attached them so the killed them all an I don't think they even fought back. Mother Kora survived an saved May. That's why in episode 1 or 2 the jedi said they did what they thought was best.

So it's obvious now right? They're just trying to piss us off? I'm so glad I didn't renew my Disney+ a few months back. It's not worth the extra $5 on hulu. Listening to these breakdowns proves it to me. They know exactly what they're doing. Nobody is actually watching this show and enjoying it right? Disney never knew what to do with Star Wars. I hope they just give up soon and sell it to someone that cares.
Man, what a breakdown and solid theory! This theory would bring more interest to the show IF true 😂 and I’m hoping it is. So much distraction with other stuff, it’s taking away from, potentially, decent storytelling.
The timeline of Torbin confuses me because he became a master before he stopped speaking. And he hadn’t spoken for ten years not sixteen so something else must have happened in the next six years to make him take the vow and cause him all of that guilt. Unless he had a really delayed reaction

I didn’t notice that first watch thanks for saying that it, had to have happened during the fire night too
Of course it is. God forbid a character have a scar or wound to just imply a storied past. No, when imbeciles write screenplays, they literally have to have causality braces
I need to know what dark side curse gave him that beard.
He got it from fighting the wookie jedi. We haven't seen the flashback from all sides yet
Facts.
I understand why everyone thought Mae had died based on the episode. But why does Mae think that Osha died? That doesn't really add up.
The Sith are liars and manipulators. Mae is a victim of the Sith’s cycle of manipulation.
Because Osha also was falling off the bridge
Well rumors on what this episode was not accurate.
She doesn’t, I believe osha is one of the 4 Jedi Mae is hunting, not sol, cuz for all she knows osha went on to become a Jedi, she wouldn’t know she left the order. But she knows she survived somehow.
Because she never came back to the tree
If it was "Koril all along"...why did Torbin chug the poison? This was all very "Cult vs. Cult" to me....a lose/lose scenario. Become a witch...get slaughtered by the Jedi...become a Jedi...get slaughtered by the Sith. A long time Ago in a galaxy far, far away ....force sensitive children were screwed.
It's implied by the episode, and has been heavily hinted in general, there was MUCH more to this event than it seems
Torbin got to see an advance copy of the script last week and made his fatal choice.

Am I the only one bothered by adult Osha and Mae being played by the same actress, but the young versions are played by sisters that are definitely not identical twins? Pulled me right out of it...
I thought I was seeing them wrong until I realized they were not identical.😂
Because it's Disney star wars..
i'm sure that would've been their preference, but you'd be hard pressed to find a young actor who could believably play both parts. especially acting against themselves.

And Yoda chose a dark side spot on Dagobah. It's like poetry, it rhymes.
Well.. What you said is exactly why the Jedi built the temple on Coruscant, over a Sith temple.
They thought to "purify" it. It only wound up corrupting them.

This breakdown was significantly more interesting than the episode itself. Nice job MT!
21:11 was she curious about the Wookiee Jedi or was she curious about the machine he was working on which led her to her current job?

Both. She’d never seen much of a Wookiee before and she’s very good with machines.

This eps was in oshas POV so Mae acting like a psycho makes sense but I think there’s more to it. Also, we see a black cloaked figure next to mother while the ascension was happening?? Who the hell was that?
Yeah, this version does not explain why Torben felt guilty and took the poison.
The Jedi slaughtered the Coven.
I'm 99% sure it's Qimir under the mask. The voice's rhythmic pattern is even the same. Mae will teach him how to create life from the Dark Side. He either is or will train Darth Plagueis.
By the way he is because all the leaks there's leaked videos and photos it's him
That makes sense. We’ll see though.
But we know who plagueis's master is.
@@mikelombard21 I have a feeling that this show isn't going to mention Plagueis or Tenebris, just like it's not going to mention Yoda who should also be around at this time
You know Plagueis is an entirely different species right? 😂😂 There is absolutely no way at all that it's Plagueis considering the mystery villain has a human shaped head lol Not only that I highly doubt either girl could create life considering they couldn't have had that kind of training at that age.

Here's how I've decided to account for this "problematic" show in the greater lore of Star Wars:
1) The Acolyte is set as a prequel story relative to the original six movies.
MT - This breakdown is amazing! Thank you for your hard work! 🤓
So the Jedi would be Sith.
Great points MT. You made me like the episode more!
I love that MT gives so much information that other RUclipsrs didn’t give like the planets part. Blerds up +50000 aura
That's because the others complain about the show to boost their views.
MT is cool but a lot of his "information" is just his own crazy ideas, not necessarily facts 😉

Prediction: Most likely Mea master did jedi mind trick and made her start fire
thats so retarded it just might be true with these writers.

I think the witches use both aspects of the Force. Mother Anaseya seems to be more balanced than most other Force users.
Makes sense, they did talk about the Bonduk. Idk if that’s kind of like the Bendu.

It was never Tolkien level mythology
@@stevena.7022could you explain further? I never rlly got into LOTR besides watching the movies
I applaud you and screen crush for standing flat footed and just doing these videos.

Exactly, and people are giving in. Smh
I think they know a huge amount of Star Wars fans are just angry nerds waiting to hate something.

The editors are great.

@@rhammond71 Yo I have almost identical opinions. Andor was next fucking level!
I think the Jedi killed the witch's when they came for Ocea. Mother Kora attached them so the killed them all an I don't think they even fought back. Mother Kora survived an saved May. That's why in episode 1 or 2 the jedi said they did what they thought was best.
3 cliff dives in a row - how much lower could it possibly go at this point
Can we say that they will both die at the end of show!
Crazy how fast people watched this as to not like the show😂😂 people are clowns. Great job mt. I think you're spot on with the theorys... This show is pretty good. And yeah this is how plaguise and sidious learned how to create Anakin.
It’s funny how many “trash I’m not watching this!” People clearly watched the episode the minute it aired.
@@Pope005 and then proceeded to watch a breakdown immediately after
I don't even get it.. it's solid.. has to be some tic Tok hate train people now a days are doing.. seems like anything can out of now where suddenly just get destroyed by millions of sheeple blindly following a herd
You didn't read the book. Anakin was a retaliation the force created as a result of plagues trying to make the force his.
Make something so bad, even pirates don't want it.
It's a bold strategy Cotton, let's see if it pays off for 'em.
MT I am smashing the like button
thank you
So it's obvious now right? They're just trying to piss us off? I'm so glad I didn't renew my Disney+ a few months back. It's not worth the extra $5 on hulu. Listening to these breakdowns proves it to me. They know exactly what they're doing. Nobody is actually watching this show and enjoying it right? Disney never knew what to do with Star Wars. I hope they just give up soon and sell it to someone that cares.
Great breakdown. Quality stuff.
Oh shoot! Thanks for the reminder this is on tonight.
I'm enjoying the show but I also can understand why some are mad with making Anakin not a special birth anymore.
I like the Bridge Scene when Mae said “I know what I have to do but I don’t know if I have the Strength to do it”
💀
Man, what a breakdown and solid theory! This theory would bring more interest to the show IF true 😂 and I’m hoping it is. So much distraction with other stuff, it’s taking away from, potentially, decent storytelling.
Why don't the twins have horns on their head too?
Just a surrogate for force clones
Idk what’s up with the comment section - but I’m sincerely enjoying Acolyte. I wish it was a little older (like 1000 BBY) but oh well!
Wait so why was Torbin so guilty he’d kill himself?
More to the story of that fire, why were all the people dead and why was Sol already there
🗣️
The timeline of Torbin confuses me because he became a master before he stopped speaking. And he hadn’t spoken for ten years not sixteen so something else must have happened in the next six years to make him take the vow and cause him all of that guilt. Unless he had a really delayed reaction
Well his face was scarred up so it’s pretty fair to suggest other things happened we haven’t seen.
@@davahn122 I mean the girl was packing so I assume they were there to pick her up. This was a train wreck tho
TY Editors! You guys are the true heroes!
If you pay to watch star wars you have a humiliation fetish. Simple as
Not if you enjoy the content. Or even like it enough to keep watching. I'm sure you like watching some things that others would be horrified to know about.
Episode was 🔥🔥🔥 breakdown was 🔥🔥🔥 s/out MT what up Paul yea yeaaaa
