Thanks for this. I was a high school senior when Alien was released in late May '79. I'd never heard of actress Veronica Cartwright, although I'd seen The Birds but didn't pay attention to the credits. She is excellent as Lambert. I think the character has been badmouthed a bit unfairly. Although she's scared crapless, Lambert performs her duties very admirably well. The rough landing wasn't her fault, either, since nobody knew what the hell to expect, period. She freezes up, yeah, but jeeze, who wouldn't ! And at that point she was aware of its acid blood which would have splattered all over the place as well as dousing her. And she knew how agile it was after ambushing Dallas in the air shafts. Damned thing had her cornered and she knew her ticket was about to be punched.
Anyone who badmouths Lambert is just a tryhard attempting to look tough. If they were in the positions that she's put in during the film, they'd literally shit themselves.
@A13ns_R_Fayk 'Invasion of the Body Snatchers' was absolutely brilliant! That final scene with Donald Sutherland - I can still remember it clearly, almost 5 decades later! So many incredible movies from the late 70's and early 80's: Close Encounters of the Third Kind, The Thing, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Fright Night, Assault on Precinct 13, to name a few.
Adding the music to the Kane coffee scene completely changes the feel from rough cut outtake to something that feels like it's always been part of the theatrical cut
Excellent video- fills in the missing scenes, great narrative, etc. Strangely enough, a missing vantage point of the landing struts here, is my favorite scene. Why? Funny thing is I saw this on a long play recorded vhs cassette player on a short-play only vhs recorder I originally used to think it was an aliens inner mouth that pushed through the helmet!! It’s still such a creepy scene
@@benjamingeorg2027 if you recorded a vhs cassette tape version of Alien on a long play compatible machine then played it on a vhs player that only plays short play videos it would sound strange because it’s basically compressed on a long play recording. Hard to explain without hearing one.
All this can you see in the Alien Appendix. It is the complete Version of this movie. Runtime ca. 2 hours and 45 min. It is in my collection since 6 years.
Really? I hadn't seen all of these deleted scenes before, and some are really good. The talk between Ripley and Lambert appeared in a comic book version, and I didn't realise they had actually filmed it. Is this full version you speak of available on Blu Ray? What about the new 4K release.. does that have the deleted scenes?
I'm obsessed with this masterpiece. It's the most immersive film I've ever experienced. Ridley has a gift for making the audience feel like they are there. It really deserved more awards than it received. But, there has always been a bias against sci-fi, horror and comedies. Don't quite understand that. I guess the academy doesn't always account for all emotions.
Thanks for the awesome video. I was sure all the Nostromo scenes I had seen them before in a laser disc like 25 years ago but never found them online again until now. Marvelous job.
this is such a great example of how the edit can make or break a movie. all of the edited out footage and scenes definitely belong on the cutting room floor. the theatrical version is an infinitely more suspenseful and horrific film, while this felt like a cheap tv monster movie.
With today’s technology they should always release the theatrical version along with a full version with all the deleted scenes one a two disc DVD !! This was awesome thanks
Amazed. I think its fair to say the editing of the theatrical version is the business, some very hard decisions! For me superior, but to see an alternative version like this, I mean how did this stuff even resurface? editing can is 'bin' after all. But a chance to lift the lid like this is fascinating, you see how some scenes didn't work and too much exposure and chance to study the creature shows you too much. its like its acting!! No, not as convincing, brilliant though the creature looks, its hamming it up, not terrifying. Again, Ripley is staggering , just incredible even in the deleted scenes, lambert is ripleys foil in these scenes , vulnerable, falling apart just knows she's going to die, Ripley somehow holding it all together, perhaps her fury at Ash is giving her the extra strength, I've seen the original so many times, its a perfect movie, like the organism. Its not dated. the sequel is great too but somehow hasn't to my mind held its ground quite like this one.
Moral of the story when someone tells you to explore a derelict alien ship, you tell them to "derelict my balls"🤣 Fr tho sci fi and horror movie tropes give me a great laugh bc it's like after all the scary movies we've seen we would know better to literally not do what they do.
There a few shots there I'd not seen before, (Lambert describing what happened on the derelict) and nice to see Brett with more dialogue challenging Ash after Kane's demise, but also a few alternate cuts that didn't make it in, like Parker being thrown up against the ceiling in his final fight and the alien being blasted from the Narcissus and bouncing back against the hull from a different camera angle. All in all though, it's great to see an alternate cut with more of the crew interactions.
Especially the scene with Dallas and Brett being dissolved into eggs. Wow! They should have kept that in all the sequels to add to the suspense. What's worse? Being cocooned OR being dissolved? Both nasty ways to die! I like the face huggers angle, BUT dissolving into an egg when an Alien is isolated is insane genius!
@@alvinjohnson2402 If my lore is correct they ended up scrapping the humans dissolving into eggs bc it would make the need for a "Queen Alien" obsolete. But, that being said I agree they should have left it in. The idea that there's literally no changing their fate they're about to just become a bloody yoke is peak visceral body horror😱
@@SeaDoge13 Ikr, BUT the plot hole in the 1st one was solved by implementing a lone drone can produce "one egg" to make a queen that was Cameron's direction to a hive like structure became the focal point of the narrative! Wherein the 1st alien movie too explain the many eggs found was to have the victims dissolved into an "lavae" stage and need another victim to evolve into a parasitic organism that grows into an Alien.
What a great video!! I actually watched the original 'Alien' in a cinema. Terrifying fascination lasting almost half a century. And I have also seen 'Director's Cut' and some 'Deleted Scenes' but this video has some deleted scenes I had never seen before. It does miss one deleted scene though: As Ash was examining the xenomorph in a lab and admiring the creature, Ripley told him something like 'And you brought this into the ship'. Ash said, you do your job and let me know my job.
great to see the deleted scenes but glad they were left out they slow the film down. check out the alien 3 workprint it has tons of deleted scenes that are not even on the extended cut.
At the same time of the screening of Spiderman : Across the Spider Verse, 1 cinema in Singapore decided to re-play Alien and Aliens in cinema. Theyre playing in IMAX. I saw the poster and I was like 'F* it, take my 30 SGD per movie, I am going to watch it. ' That was one of the best weekend movie activity I ever did. Alien in a big screen, adds to the horror. And Aliens is another level in big screen. It rivals post 2000s action movies. I will do it again if they replay it in the big screen no doubt. Mind you I was born in 1991, years after Alien and Aliens. And this movies never gets old.
After Star Wars in 1977, anything SciFi was welcome. I was 9 years old when this came out and I was already picking things apart that didn't make sense or was technically impossible, etc. Lol! Nothing compares to Star Wars though. I'm greatful for all the great SciFi films that followed.
I saw Alien 👽 on the big screen (the cinema) the first week it premiered in 1979 Sydney Australia. You can say what you like about how the movie stands up by todays standards....but you have to remember up until this point in time(1979)...nothing like it had ever been seen before in terms of storyline..concept..locations..cast and that sense of dread. It still stands the test of time. Everything..including the sequels took from this classic. 👌
I was born in 87 and I've loved this movie my whole life so far, however whilst I appreciate this for bringing a new generation into loving this movie, if I click on one more video with an a.i generated narrator I'm quitting RUclips! When Ash's head is decapeteted, he is an Android, the effects they used to look him like an Android now makes me smile. The cords with balloons to be seen in the open, are in fact urine catheters. I did not know it then, but some years later I worked as a nurse in a Hospital. And there they were! Now always reminds me of Ash the Android. Part of this fantastic movie!
I CONSIDER ALIEN AS A BRILLIANT MIX OF HORROR/SCI-FI ;THE SCENE AT THE DINING TABLE WITH THE WHOLE CREW IS ICONIC & STUNNED MOST EVERYBODY IN THE MILITARY MOVIE THEATRE! GREAT PIC NEVER TOPPED BY THE SEQUELS😮😮😮😅
Several years ago, I saw another version of alien with scenes I had never seen before. For example, when Brett enters the room where the alien awaits him, there is a new shot of the alien looking down at him. I have never since then seen that missing shot
Nice edit! I was most fascinated by the intercut of the Prototype suits inner jaw popping out, with the closeups of Big Chap in Brett's dead scene, there should exist more screen test footage of it I would love to see it, since you can't find really good pics of it, except pics of the heavily damaged suit in the Giger museum.
AI is amazing but it'll not replace human beings any time soon I think. It can't tell the difference between 'records' as in discs and 'records' as in logs. It has the same difficulty with lead/lead, read/read and so on. Other than that it's not bad, though I dare say the equipment and editing could cost more than, or at least the same as, getting a human voice actor to do the job. Thank you for posting this restored edition.
8.10: Nostromo in the distance. 12.17: Kane goes down. 15.35: Lambert attacks Ripley. And so on! They were all brilliant moments! Why did the filmmakers decide to cut those moments??? Official version is about 1.56, yes? So, ca. 2.20 would have been quite okay to me!
A problem early on with the movie is the choice of sending the two senior officers out and the main person that should have been sent, that being the science officer, stayed on the Nostromo. Realistically, the XO, Warrant Officer, and Science Officer would have been the three sent out leaving the Captain, Navigator, and the two engineers who were effecting repairs, on board.
Yes, if it was the science officer who first had contact with the creature, there would be no danger of taking the creature to the ship, since Ash was a synthetic and did not serve as a host.
Thanks! Nicely done. Would be nicer if you could lower the music during the talking scenes from the movie. Hard to hear what the characters are saying.
The power needed to propel that refinery beyond the speed of light would be unimaginable. I've always thought that it would have been better for the Nostromo to be mining in the Kuiper belt, with a sceduled stopover at the Asteroid belt. Within the Kuiper belt there are dwarf planets where the discovery could have taken place. A journey time of a couple of years, would have been belivable for a technology 100 years from now.
IF These Scenes Had Have Been Included In The FINAL CUT I Think That Might Have Affected Pacing HOWEVER If They Had Have Been Included That Would Have Added A Bit More Context To The Story, A Difficult Balance Between Pacing, Providing More Detail While Trying Not To Pad Out The Story!!!🤔🤔🤔
The wonderful Director's cut of Alien is very successful In The second movie and has restored scenes of the wonderful Alien planet so I Saw it on Prime video📸📸📸 😁😊😂😅😅!
For those who are unaware these scenes and clips are on the Alien Anthology Blu-ray’s mostly scattered throughout the bonus discs. 20:25 Ridley almost put that in the director’s cut. glad he left it out. Ripley’s in a way too cheery mood. 33:25 that sequence has a scene that was never shot in between. The Alien was in the airlock but escaped when Parker tried to trap him. 35:25 this scene with Parker wouldn’t be there. I’ve seen a video that puts almost of the deleted scenes in the movie as a fan edit. It’s been so long ago there’s no upload to share.
there is a clip missed where ripley goes down the metal ladders where dallas and brett are cocooned , in the heated room, before she goes down the ladders she breaks open a locker where the back of the locker already broken which leads to the ladders.
Ash was unable, or chose not to restrain Kane when it was emerging. As a synth, he seemed really strong when the remaining crew attempted to pacify him.

I've never heard this music track you used. Could you tell me where I can listen to it or buy it. Does a suite look reworked? thanks for your time
There are photos of both women topless asleep & perhaps even walking about. If Ridley had incorporated those scenes it would have made Alien that much better and given it a furtherance to that Heavy Metal feel.
I always wondered why Ash was in hyper-sleep, he doesn’t need to sleep? Also why Dallas made Lambert go with them to the derelict, I would have thought it would make more sense to take the Science Officer not the Navigation Officer? Lambert was hardly the best choice of character for that, she was strung out and edgy - whereas Ash was cool as a cucumber. This film still looks amazing particularly as it was shot in 1979. Films only a few years old look dated, just look at Star Wars prequels they look terrible - Attack of the Clones looks like a cartoon the CGI is really bad.
@@55tranquility The "company" sent the Nostromo's crew to pick up an alien. It was deliberate. We're never told how they found out about the derelict spaceship since there wasn't a terraforming colony on the planet, but this is what Ripley says to the assembled people inquiring of her at the beginning of Aliens when she's being interviewed and asked why she destroyed the ship. The company did the same thing in Aliens. Bishop was an android like Ash but a newer model, and less "twitchy" (his term). Had he not cut his finger and started emitting his android "blood" fluid, showing off his superhuman speed in the knife game with Private Hudson (brilliantly played by Bill Paxton) revealing to Ripley he was an "artificial human" (his preferred term) she never would have known. She was very pissed discovering that after what happened last time. A strong case for the dangers of AI in evil hands is presented in this film.
Captain DaLLas made many poor decisions. Giving the job to skittish Lambert to help scout this planetoid was hasty. He didn't even care anymore and just wanted to get home like everyone else. Ash was a corporate sleeper ceLL if that is even ironic. When i saw Attack of the Cloned Tomatoes, (not to mention Indiana Jones & the Kingdom of the Flying Monkeys), i wanted to walk out soon after. It was like a video game with terrible dialogue and love scenes that belong in a Monthy Python skit.

@@zx7-rr486 no, i have it in DvD, i think this is a bootlegt Version.
The Narrator's a God damn robot!
rolls up newspaper
🤘😆🤘😂🤣😂🤣 these comments are hilarious
I thought the narrator is spot on with it's commentary
It's a working Joe.
It looks like completely different movie! Awesome!
It's mind-blowing, I love Alien but this is like a whole new movie and I love it much more.
The atmosphere, the music, the plot... everything is perfect about this movie.
With today’s technology they should always release the theatrical version along with a full version with all the deleted scenes one a two disc DVD !!
This was awesome thanks
Nobody has time to watch a 2-3-hour long movie these days with our short span of attention. 🤡🤡
I would take the penalty of total forfeit of shares... AKA...no money...by ignoring the derelict to live another day!
cannot believe all the wxtra footage here. its a treasure trove. thx
Absolutely brilliant thank you, my favourite film ever, just got better.
Great video..Thank You for even more deleted scenes that i never seen before..Love the film..Brilliant work
Pity all these scenes weren’t included in the 4K edition 😢😢
This is a useful post about the film, but the near constant overlay of "subscribe" is unbelievably annoying.
Not to mention the useless narration.
Well. Can you find the money in your budget to buy the whole film? Look between & under the sofa cushions.
You got a new sub here. Great work.
8:48 - I love how the alien spacecraft is shaped like an eye. Watching.
great to see the deleted scenes but glad they were left out they slow the film down. check out the alien 3 workprint it has tons of deleted scenes that are not even on the extended cut.
The original transmission was far more scary sounding
True
And this movies never gets old.
absolutely loved this...THANKYOU..!
It removes too much humanity for me. I love hearing people talk not robots 😂😂😢😢
Superb ! Thanks for doing this. Can you do this with ''ALIENS'' ?
Restored version of Aliens is coming today..without narration
When Ash's head is decapeteted, he is an Android, the effects they used to look him like an Android now makes me smile. The cords with balloons to be seen in the open, are in fact urine catheters. I did not know it then, but some years later I worked as a nurse in a Hospital. And there they were! Now always reminds me of Ash the Android. Part of this fantastic movie!
Very well done! I enjoyed your video.
I've seen that scene also! I've been looking for it. Let me know if you find it.
Isn’t that scene the one in this video at the 28:19 time mark?
Directors cut of Alien has that scene
Awesome!, so many deleted scenes, this really makes a difference and understanding of Alien.
I believe the deleted scenes might have contained the flaws of the original alien. Because it looked like a person in an alien suit.
Incredible, it's been 45 years since this extraordinary film was shown
Wonderful. This was amazing to watch. Can't wait for Alien Romulus coming in August this year.
THE game-changer of sci-fi horror, and the greatest creature ever.
You have some gold images here. Congratulations.
I freaking love this movie. 💯% my favorite sci-fi 👌🏼
Just think if they let Sir Ridley finish some of the scenes he wanted but couldn't finish .
Thanks for sharing 😊
never seen those extra footage before
A problem early on with the movie is the choice of sending the two senior officers out and the main person that should have been sent, that being the science officer, stayed on the Nostromo.
To me these scenes are interesting but not necessary. the editor and director did a fine job.
Amazing scenes!
Kane is absolutely unforgivable for his behaviour towards the egg chamber and that egg.
Back in the day it always felt like the movie needed more interaction moments between the crew after Kane was brought back from the Alien ship.
I can watch it again and again
there is a clip missed where ripley goes down the metal ladders where dallas and brett are cocooned , in the heated room, before she goes down the ladders she breaks open a locker where the back of the locker already broken which leads to the ladders.
Ash was unable, or chose not to restrain Kane when it was emerging. As a synth, he seemed really strong when the remaining crew attempted to pacify him.
These scenes are fantastic.
Woooow really amazing TY!!
Are there any DVDs that features the missing scenes that you are showing us?
Absolutely amazing ❤
This is amazing
this is neat. like a 'Read-A-Long' Version of the film. The Story of Alien. 👍
Saw this in it's release in '79. I was terrified and grossed out. Actually sick to my stomach.
Thank God we didn't have to sit through the awkwardness of John Hurt making coffee to introduce the characters....
THERE IS NO GOD AND THE BIBLE IS ONLY A STORY BOOK AND PRAYING ARE ONLY WORDS AND THEY DO NOTHING TO HELP PEOPLE 😁

i subscrive now in your wonderful channel! congratulations for this wonderful video, I'm a fan of alien and I was able to have all the soundtracks released...
The omitted NOSTROMO scenes are in the super 8 reel version of ALIEN
I always wondered why Ash was in hyper-sleep, he doesn’t need to sleep? Also why Dallas made Lambert go with them to the derelict, I would have thought it would make more sense to take the Science Officer not the Navigation Officer? Lambert was hardly the best choice of character for that, she was strung out and edgy - whereas Ash was cool as a cucumber. This film still looks amazing particularly as it was shot in 1979. Films only a few years old look dated, just look at Star Wars prequels they look terrible - Attack of the Clones looks like a cartoon the CGI is really bad.
No one was told Ash was an android so his being put in hypersleep keeps up the charade.
@@dusttalking6871 ah - good point, that crafty old company!
Oh, yes, just leave the door wide open while Kane lies there with "that thing" stuck to his face!
ASH WAS A ROBOT WHO TRIED TO KILL RIPLEY IN THIS MOVIE AND SEGORNIE WEAVER WAS IN THIS MOVIE AND SHE WAS IN A MOVIE CALLED ALIEN 3 AND SHE WAS IN A MOVIE CALLED GHOST BUSTERS 2 AND THE SINGER RAY PARKER JR SING A SONG CALLED GHOST BUSTERS AND HE SINGS A SONG CALLED WALKING ON THE CEILING 😁
