Oh yeah definitely
I have aphantasia which means I think in descriptions and not pictures. Using reference more has helped so much. My tattoo artist told me he draws photo reference to draw practice work to help with stylise normal situations. It's a great tip.
Me: *scrolling through the comments, sort of listening*
Lavender: *draws scissors*
Me: *you have my attention*
these helped a lot! i like the idea of separating the sketch, it makes sense :) I've actually been multi-referencing with drawing for a while now! that technique works well with doing fanart of characters too
you should try and do a series’s where you take a musical and compare it a book or movie it’s based off or a book or movie adaptation that was made of it for example heathers the musical and the movie and be more chills book and musical
She’s done that before, it’s her series called by the book
@@inactiveaccountstopreplyin6285 I know but I meant with musicals not just book and movie adoptions
@@h0rrorscope ah ok
That would be cool

omg I love the scissor angel wings design so much like omghehgshfg-
i'm not entirely sure it you've done this before, but how about a draw this, not that about costume design? i'm always partial to giving up and drawing half of my characters in overalls just because i can't think of a good idea for an outfit :'D
I think she talked about it in her do this, not that for character design.
THANK YOU FOR THIS I NEED IT!!!! I have a character who uses needle nose pliers as a weapon and I struggle with consistency and memorability (they’re not completely designed yet) and just generally trying to make them look good
That awkward moment when the "not this" sword in the thumbnail looks exactly like how I draw swords 😆
LOVED seeing Planchette in art styles outside of your comic style!! The cute doodle at the end, and the sketch before that of her using straps for her trunk! :D
This was posted RIGHT as I was beginning to draw a group of characters who 3/5 are going to be holding weapons/objects-
This is an *amazing* piece of commentary on deceptively simple things that very frequently trip up artists. Good job!!
1:54 scissors lore
ngl, i feel like this will really really help me out.
i find object design really fun, but i have such a hard time making things look functional or appealing, so ill probably be following these steps.
i also like thinking of objects as extensions of the chrs that own them, i find that that helps a bit.
but anyway, i really liked this vid
The fact that the handles of the scissors are way to short to close the scissors are triggering me throughout the whole video xD
Sometimes it's good to play with forms and shapes even if you draw objects and props. Its good for dynamic!
Me listening while trying to find a reference lmao
I love these, I learn so much, and I get so much inspiration and new knowledge! What an absolute pillar of the art community! ✨
Watching LavenderTowne fills you with determination
You are so incredibly talented. Thank you for taking the time out of your day to share your knowledge with your viewers. It is so appreciated!
Early lol sorry I’m exited I love watching these vids while drawing
I love you. So much. I’ve been following you and your art for such a long time and I’ve never regretted a second of it ❤️
who else loves laventer towne!?
Ok but it's actually SO FUN to research objects to design a prop. I ended up going down a sword rabbit hole which quickly took me from loathing drawing swords to being kind of obsessed with it. 10/10 would recommend.
Me struggling to draw a sword: *ughhhh! Why does it look so wrong!?*
Me when this video came up: *well I just got good luck*
Aww I love this because when I was 15 I really loved your videos and I felt the same way about references.... but now I've started really branching out into using refs which has helped me so much. I like the idea that my 15 year old self might have seen this and been like. Hmm :) maybe refs aren't so bad!
Also the desogn page at 9:45 looks sick!!!
Wow this video was so helpful! I also love the way it’s formatted with all the different examples! Good job 👏
*last time I was this early Marie Antoniette still had her head*
Edit: Omg I got so many likes thank you guys🥺😀

I need to work on object and background drawing and design. It isn't something I've practiced a lot and I get scared and never know where to begin. This video is super helpful. It's made me inspired to try drawing all sorts of objects to practice ☺️
Ya gotta appreciate references though.
Thank you for this video- i was starting to praticing background with a LOT of stuffs for a story that im start doing- (Books,Witch things,Sword, ect..) so you vomme to help a lot of people without really knowing-i love your style by the way!
Can you do a Disney princess into Magical Girls

actual RUclips: comments are counted immediately, whereas someone needs to watch a certain percentage of the video for their view to count, which is why the comments and likes override the views on any video thats just been uploaded.
