Just bought a 2019 GT1. So fun to drive, I could see people looking at me wondering what I was driving. Kia has stepped up to the plate with this ride. Thanks for videos Joe.
I got the 2021 stinger Gt-line, and trust me it’s by far the best you can get for a sporty and luxury sedan car, I love my car and of course I watched the full review before buying it, thank you Joe!
That's with almost no options. All the safety blindspots tech is standard which is amazing as most manufacturers still charge extra. Standard Android auto apple carplay. If you want the larger screen, sunroof, AWD and heated and cooled seats, it's gonna be 40k but still, several thousand cheaper than Mercedes, BMW and Audi when equipped similarly.
As an a owner of a 2019 non-GT Stinger, I almost wish I had waited a year. It's not the fastest thing around, but it gets out of its own way. I wish it had about 30 to 35 more bhp ( the next one will). Mine Stickerd at 42k all options. I paid 38 and change. Catch them on an end of year sale (i hit the 4th of July sales) and the value for money is even better. The Stinger at any trim gets looks. I have had guys in Mercedes chat me up while stopped in traffic. I love my car.
Just bought a 2021 Kia Stinger GT Line in that same color. Seats came in red, sunroof, upgraded sound system, and the screen is bigger. For what I see this is crazy value. Definitely fun to drive and drives much better than my 2018 Optima! I can only imagine how much faster the V6 is! I would recommend checking it in person also. In video it looks great but in person...MAN!!!
I had a GT1 when they first came out in 2018. A year later, I had some life events and had to trade "down" to an Optima, which was nice and was fully loaded, but kind of family-sedanish (I'm single) and not really my style. I came across this review and didn't realize they had made the GT-line, that gives you all of the visual goodies of the GT but without the price or the twin turbo V6 (which I LOVED when I had the GT1 but felt it was too much power for me considering I rarely get to use all of it and I couldn't get over the terrible gas mileage). I purchased a 2020 GT-Line this past weekend, same color as your tester but with the Sun and Sound package, with considerable discounts offered, too (thanks, pandemic!). This is the model I would have gotten from the beginning if had been available-the old base Stingers had different trim that made them look cheap and compromised; this GT-Line is perfect-great looks sans all the extra power you won't need if you don't use it. The engine is still plenty peppy, and even though you don't get all the bells and whistles of the GT models, they designed the interior to where there are no knockout blanks or switches-so you don't get reminders that you "cheaped out" haha. Kia is doing such a rad thing with these cars. And thank you to your awesome reviews; watching this one informed and entertained and resulted in a purchase. Continued growth and success to you!
Love my 2020 GT Line AWD. Have the sun and sound package as well. Total sleeper vehicle for people who don't know enough about them. Have my twinkies in the center console and my m&ms in the party tray.

I can’t believe how many videos you’re doing, and they are always improving! But this car at 5.5 seconds? Maybe going downhill with a headwind! Hopefully Kia will replace the doggy 2.0t with the 2.5t from the new Sonata N line.
Although Hyundai the sister company these use diffrent formula but share parts. If you get a 2.5 sonata you will prob get a 2.5 stinger and/or optima following that.
Edwin Alfredo , Motortrend 0-60, 6.6s. C&D, who always have particularly fast times, got 6.0s. The 2.0t in the Stinger/G70, doesn’t have the same performance as most of the comparable engines. Audi, BMW, even Honda 2.0t in the Accord is way faster.
Getting mine tomorrow....with less than12,000 miles...Charcoal exterior and black leather inside...but the larger info screen. We'll see how the rwd works in a few months!
I’m in Canada so all the Kia Stingers 4 & 6 cyl are AWD, thats a bonus. My questions are 1. Is the 4 cyl Stinger going to be enough HP for me? I currently have a Mustang V6 with intake and chipped so running about 340 hp. I’m going to test drive both. Other question is with the new 2.5 L 4 cyl in the 2022 Stingers... with this ‘old’ I Line engine set up depreciate even more quickly?? Once again great review... I like your attention to detail especially on the exterior design details. A subscriber....
Great looking car for the money and great video. The only thing I was thinking is, if they went to the trouble of replacing the Kia badge with the Stinger lettering on the back, why not do the same with the centre of the steering wheel? After all, that is what the driver is going to see most of the time.
Bought a 2020 GT-Line with Sun and Sound package. The red Leather is great if you like red leather. I am so impressed and can’t believe how much attention it gets. You would think I was in a Ferrari. I think it’s because they look great and are so relatively rare. I’ve only seen maybe 6 on the road in 2 months and I drive about 5000 miles a month for work.
@@lrob5657 No but you an swap the bulbs in the aftermarket. However, the DRLs (Daytime Running Lights) are. They are a circular pattern surrounding the headlights and glow white during the day. The Regular headlights on the GT-Line are yellow hallogen Projector beam lights. They look very different than the GT full LEDs.
Great review. Always tune in when you review the Stinger. Seriously think this will be my next choice car. Just love its style, pace, quality and its not German.
Great thing that they now offer stinger badge standard, which they should have done from the start though. I still think its an amazing value for what it offers. Especially if you look at the Arteon with less hp and front-wheel drive.
Stinger looks good in this color. I really like the sportback design and wish more sedans would have that. I might have missed this in your review but can you get the GT Line with AWD?
why can't they just make a naturally aspirated V6 . as an option without Turbo ?! the other thing even that i do . i agree with you. overall opinion. regarding attractive style vehicle. but yet that tablet screen has to go . another thing stopping me from getting inside that vehicle !! .. excellent review as usual .. 👍🏽
Another great review! I really like the Stinger and the new Forte GT manual. Would you personally buy a certified used 18/19 Stinger 4 cylinder or a new Forte GT with the 6 speed? They are pretty similarly priced
Hey Joe....a lot of us are very interested in your Formula racing career. If you have some videos, pics and history we would love to know it!! Thanks for the reviews!
Joe, the next time you are cruising in a Stinger and want to drive in the non sport mode, try the smart mode instead of comfort. I find the throttle, power delivery and shifts to be much smoother than comfort mode for regular daily driving.
That's weird because I just purchased the same exact color 2020 GT but I got brembo brakes twin turbo 6 and heated and cooled seats for 36k!! I guess I got a HELL OF A DEAL
Not a bad looking vehicle! $34k is an excellent price for this pretty car. I would have to go with the 365 horsepower engine. KIA is bringing it these days although I would probably ‘E’ badge this vehicle. Excellent review Joe. 👍 I’m surprised that I miss this one.
Shopped this in 2018 and decided it was too much car for me...Grabbed a 2017 Optima SXL titanium exterior with the Aubergine interior with super low miles in 2018. Nearly the same engine with a 6 speed auto and so many more lux features that I'm happy with my choice! Pop it over to sport mode and throttle response is almost too quick! Front wheel drive works best here in Northern NV when we do get snow. No twinkies in my car tho! Thanks!
Wish they would put heated and cooled seats in the GT line as we're here in Florida and it's hot. Nobody's going to call them out on that they do all for that in the European version of the car
Has been my favorite car that has come out in the last 3 years. The only thing I don't like when you get to the GTs at their price point is what you pointed out about the Driver Information Center being small and basic when they have the real estate to change/upgrade that. Even though I want a truck in the worst way and only have one more payment on my 2013 compact sedan I would love to afford this as a different kind of fun compliment to a truck, whether with the 2.0 L 4 cylinder on the more exciting 3.3L V6. I agree with another subscriber in that after the initial push Kia has fallen away from the Stinger from a marketing standpoint and went full on Selluride, Seltos and soon the Sorento. Thanks for sharing this sexy sportback from Kia.
Looks like a very practical sporty car. Huge storage! Kia is smoking hot. The stinger has been zonked by some for a few rattles and squeaks now and again, but I suspect they will sort these out as the years progress. I was digging that chirpy little downshift on the 19 turn lane.
I agree, this is the best bargain for a sport sedan. Kia should've treated the base model this way from the beginning. In the first few years, they put different accents on the vents and different wheels, which made it look cheaper. Now for virtually the same starting price, you can get the same look as the V6 models. I recently drove a 2018 base and it was very fun to drive and has plenty of power. My local dealer has a new 2020 GT-Line with the sun and sound package (sunroof and upgraded stereo and larger infotainment screen) for $31k! It has a $37k sticker price! I think if you're looking for one of these, wait a few months and you'll be able to get an even better deal - unless Kia actually advertises this car and they start selling.
Raiti's Rides Also, I want to tell you that you’re one of many people that inspire me to do car reviews on RUclips because I have great knowledge with cars.
@@RaitisRides Can you do a video on that? I never knew that! It would be kool if you could show us the cars any video you may have. Another reason to love you :)
The interior isn't that impressive to me for the mid 30k range, but when you consider that you can get AWD as an option this becomes a pretty compelling as a sporty-ish car that is still a practical daily driver, even in the snow belt.
Considering they actually go for high 20s with rwd or awd heated seats steering wheel, a better audio system and an actual fun to drive car compared to its competitors. It's a far better car all together. The interior is just as good as an entry level bmw or audi lol
@@johnholst A fully loaded V6 Camry is a similar price, and in my opinion it has a nicer interior. But I agree that the Stinger is overall the better package if you care at all about fun or sporty driving.
@@stevee8318 A fully loded Camry is almost 40k according to Toyota USA. And yes, at that price I agree with you; it's a bit nicer than this base Stinger. But the Kia makes a compelling choice!
I drove this GT-Line Stinger, but I preferred the steering on my 2018 Honda Accord EX. Stinger steering is light (too much play), however, the exterior is sporty and gorgeous. For 2021, I'll probably visit Tampa Honda for a trade-in! :-)
The Stinger is getting a refresh this summer .. might be a bit later in the US. I'm quite sure that the base engine will be bumped up to the 2.5 l turbo that's going in the Sonata Nline (and likely the Optima equivalent). That engine will have 295 HP and (I believe) 305 lb/ft of torque ... then there's really going to be no great need to spring for the twin turbo v6. I'm sure the safety tech & infotainment screen will be upgraded as well. Hope they continue to offer the GT line appearance package. The only thing missing on the base package is a moonroof .. add that in for $1100 more and you've got a winner for sure. This car is a bit dull in the dark grey but it really pops in the red and light gray and even the white.
BB3...That's right! Scheduled to debut in July, though it may be slightly delayed due to the virus. I would love that 2.5T in this car. To me, the 2L T isn't enough, but the 3.3TT eats too much gas. Fuel is very expensive here in Korea. About 300hp seems just right!
@@johnholst Kia/ Hyundai is putting a 1.6 l turbo hybrid - good for about 230HP I believe- into the Santa Fe & Sorrento. Wonder if they could pair the 2.0 turbo with the same Hybrid set-up and get a 260-275 HP hybrid with decent fuel economy & a good amount of low end torque and snappy stop/ start performance from the electric motor? Those types of systems do well in traffic with the adaptive cruise control feature.
@@brodieboy3 You mean for the Stinger? I read a lot of the Korean car blogs and there's no mention of it. Also, the Stinger is a relatively low volume model. I doubt we'd see something like that. But it would be cool!
@@johnholst well my guess is that like lots of engines it would/ could be used in a bunch of different Hyundai-Kia vehicles including the Telluride, Palisade & various Genesis models.
I don't know why they do not offer heated and cooled seats they have heated seats but not cooed. this is a pretty important feature in Florida and in Texas. I love the GT line and I would have paid extra for that feature I don't want the 6 cylinder engine I want the 2.5 with the sun and sound package all wheel drive and heated and cooled seats. Sadly it's just not a feature that's available
I have the 2020 gt line BLK, red interior with the audio/sunroof package unless you’re stuck on having a v6, the line is a great drive. Very responsive but more fuel efficient.
Sheta B thank you ! That’s what I was thinking . But I can’t get over the smaller wheels with no red callipers. I feel like it ruins the whole look of the car. But the. Again i dont know how it looks in person .
This is my fav car even though ive owned a 2011 Sonata for the past 5 years. The emblem on the hood for the Stinger(instead of a regular KIA badge) should be a Scorpion. The way Mustang have a horse and Dodge has an actual Ram on theirr trucks. ... Or a bee/hornet. Something that stings. So they actually stand out like Genesis finally did. I'm buying this next year.
It's too bad Hyundai confirmed the 2.5T to make nearly 300hp and the 3.5T to make close to 400hp. That makes buying the 2021 a tough sell. Not only did Hyundai improve the power, they improved fuel efficiency and fuel delivery.
That does however mean when the new model hits dealer lots, you can easily get the older model with heavy incentives and rebates. Getting one of these for under $30k out the door should be fairly easy- and would be a steal!
Joe I have a serious question. I don't have much experience in different driving experience in many cars, but I enjoy watching your review all the time!. As I'm getting ready to graduate college, I'm currently considering Veloster N as my top choice because I want to drive a fun to drive car. However, this kia stinger being only few thousand more but this good looking?!. Can you please let me know which car is more fun to drive? since stinger is RWD, vs FWD N , I'm really wondering which car would be more fun to drive. Or used GT1 trim with V6 stinger is lower 30k. so I guess veloster N vs this new stinger vs v6 used stinger fun factor please
I’m not Joe, nor have I driven a Veloster N, but I can speak as a Stinger GT owner. It’s fun every single time I drive the car. Absolutely love it. Check out the forums kiastinger.com. Both would be fun, but the stinger is correct wheel drive and it’s a lot better looking than the N
My buddy has a Stinger GT and it's a MONSTER...especially with twin intakes and Borla cat-back exhaust and throttle Enhancer. There's nothing cheap about this car and his was $40K. My personal ZONK are the wheel, its long overdue for a change, shouldn't be too hard to do, even that GT-S has the very same rims, come on KIA, you know better❗ I wish I could afford this Stinger, I'm sure 255 hp moves the car out just fine.
@@RaitisRides it sounds very good! Some people say it's not much louder than stock, well, this is what happens when you legalize it, LOL. It's right on the cusp of hearing it and being too loud, so perfect IMO. Sound clips are out there, I need to hear some with the 4 pot and an exhaust now🤔
The Regal 2.0T would be a competitor to it if it still existed. It was a lift back with Similar price and HP. But that one is FWD. You will be hard pressed to find a RWD 4 door at this price point.

In the driveway tonight!! Love being able to shut down the auto start/stop...really jarring !
I'd pick this any day of the week over a 2020 Chevy Malibu RS
I didn’t know you could still get a 2020 Malibu or Impala.
AGREED!
I'd get a Chevy SS (Commodore).
Love the hatch back design.
Congrats man!
Thanks Joe and congratulations on 250,000 subscribers! Love your reviews!
Hey man...are the front headlights LED?
@@lrob5657 No but you an swap the bulbs in the aftermarket.
However, the DRLs (Daytime Running Lights) are. They are a circular pattern surrounding the headlights and glow white during the day. The Regular headlights on the GT-Line are yellow hallogen Projector beam lights. They look very different than the GT full LEDs.
Love it as a winter car, best I've ever had, northern Sweden.
I have 2019 GT and I love it......Blows Camry and the Accord out the water....
Thanks for sharing your ownership input!
wrong segment, bubba
Great review. Always tune in when you review the Stinger. Seriously think this will be my next choice car. Just love its style, pace, quality and its not German.
Great thing that they now offer stinger badge standard, which they should have done from the start though. I still think its an amazing value for what it offers. Especially if you look at the Arteon with less hp and front-wheel drive.
I totally agree with you!
Great video Joe as always 👍
Daniel Kershner I really appreciate your support!
@@RaitisRides I am a loyal supporter and will always Wil be
Stinger looks good in this color. I really like the sportback design and wish more sedans would have that. I might have missed this in your review but can you get the GT Line with AWD?
Yes, you can get one with AWD.
I totally agree with you! Yes you can Martin.
@@2210Shyland Correct!
why can't they just make a naturally aspirated V6 . as an option without Turbo ?! the other thing even that i do . i agree with you. overall opinion. regarding attractive style vehicle. but yet that tablet screen has to go . another thing stopping me from getting inside that vehicle !! .. excellent review as usual .. 👍🏽
East17A because they didn’t want to, there’s no point. It would be more bulkier, and wouldn’t be as nimble and quick.
Another great review! I really like the Stinger and the new Forte GT manual. Would you personally buy a certified used 18/19 Stinger 4 cylinder or a new Forte GT with the 6 speed? They are pretty similarly priced
I would go preowned Stinger for the right one.
Hey Joe....a lot of us are very interested in your Formula racing career. If you have some videos, pics and history we would love to know it!! Thanks for the reviews!
Thanks Will! I will put something together. I appreciate the support!
Great review Joe! I would love to hear about the 2020 Kia Forte EX. Stay safe!
All around Perfect regular priced car
Spacious plenty of room
Little sporty little peppy
And the whole thing looks great
Looking like im buying this baby soon found 1 in white for 33k! 10k miles only i drove the GT2 mann what a car!!
Thanks!
Thanks for sharing that great input from your experience!
I’m gonna add an additional zonk for the horizontal brake lights that stretches towards the rear passenger doors
Love this car but I’d opt for the more powerful engine! Great review Joe!
I am right there with you!
Always bigger engine when there's more than one turbo!
Wish they would put heated and cooled seats in the GT line as we're here in Florida and it's hot. Nobody's going to call them out on that they do all for that in the European version of the car
Please do one on the 2022 2.5 300hp asap!! When u get it
Has been my favorite car that has come out in the last 3 years.
Thanks for those great points and input! I am so glad that you like this one.
Looks like a very practical sporty car. Huge storage! Kia is smoking hot. The stinger has been zonked by some for a few rattles and squeaks now and again, but I suspect they will sort these out as the years progress. I was digging that chirpy little downshift on the 19 turn lane.
Thanks Alan for letting me share it with you!
Jimmy Phillips I’m so for that sun and sound package
Fun Fact: Joe raced formula cars for 3 years. 🙂
DENDOFX you are 💯 correct!
Nice
The interior isn't that impressive to me for the mid 30k range, but when you consider that you can get AWD as an option this becomes a pretty compelling as a sporty-ish car that is still a practical daily driver, even in the snow belt.
Considering they actually go for high 20s with rwd or awd heated seats steering wheel, a better audio system and an actual fun to drive car compared to its competitors. It's a far better car all together. The interior is just as good as an entry level bmw or audi lol
Steve...This car is 33k. Compare it to a Camry. The Stinger has a lot of soft touch materials in the cabin. At least as good as the Toyota.
@@johnholst Agreed John, the Kia's AWD alone would seal the deal for me as I live in the snowy northlands.
I drove this GT-Line Stinger, but I preferred the steering on my 2018 Honda Accord EX. Stinger steering is light (too much play), however, the exterior is sporty and gorgeous. For 2021, I'll probably visit Tampa Honda for a trade-in! :-)
You are a great hardworking man.
Thanks Dexter! You guys deserve the best!
@@brodieboy3 I agree! They didn't spend all of that R&D money for nothing! But I would be very surprised if you see it in the Stinger.
Thanks for letting me share this one with you!
What’s a better option ? This base trim with the sound and sunroof and bigger info screen package ? Or a GT Model ?
I would go GT.
I think the 2011 redesigned Optima changed people's mind about Kia
AGREED!
@@RaitisRides For me it was a 2012 Sorento. Never considered a KIA until I bought that car. Six years later I replaced it with the same version.
Every time I watch your videos I get hungry when you talk about all those yummy snacks
How do you think I feel saying it! LOL
That car is badass just because its rear wheel drive no matter if it's a V6 or 4cil
Love you man!!!
Thanks for that!
I'm thinking you forgot the exhaust clip in a manual transmission should be available especially for the 4 cylinder
Nice vid 👍 The only problem is it’s a little heavy 😔
MAGMA CUBER not as heavy as a Charger.😳
True
This is my fav car even though ive owned a 2011 Sonata for the past 5 years. The emblem on the hood for the Stinger(instead of a regular KIA badge) should be a Scorpion. The way Mustang have a horse and Dodge has an actual Ram on theirr trucks.
... Or a bee/hornet. Something that stings. So they actually stand out like Genesis finally did. I'm buying this next year.
Does the GT Line have launch control? Or should I just go to GT1?
Please test the 2022 Gt-line with the 2.5 Turbo and AWD.
That is a very good point Davy!
So very true Miles!
It’s an underrated car for sure. Kia have come so far in 10 years. You get a good looking car for a decent price. Smart interior too.
Gareth Hood sooo very true man!
For some reason I like the base headlights better
Not bad for the price. I would love to see this car vs the accord touring.
Now that would be a great comparison!
@@MuddyTubMedia yeah and it's also much more luxurious!
I would go Veloster N all day long. Doesn't have the luxury touched of the Stinger GT but when it comes to driving it is amazing!

@Ty Ty Not even close!
@@RaitisRides That is true, still have time to save up then! Love your videos btw !
2020 lexus GSF for me ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
@Ty Ty Are you suggesting that the Kia Optima and Nissan Maxima use the same chasis/components? Cuz that's just not true.
Thanks for sharing that! I would love to hear his Stinger!
@@RaitisRides it sounds very good! Some people say it's not much louder than stock, well, this is what happens when you legalize it, LOL. It's right on the cusp of hearing it and being too loud, so perfect IMO. Sound clips are out there, I need to hear some with the 4 pot and an exhaust now🤔
To be honest I havnt seen the 2litre do under 7 seconds in any test on RUclips. Not sure where 5.5 came from
Thanks Anthony for sharing that input.
What’s the performance 0-60 compared to the accord 2.0?
The Regal 2.0T would be a competitor to it if it still existed. It was a lift back with Similar price and HP. But that one is FWD. You will be hard pressed to find a RWD 4 door at this price point.
Kia is hot right now with the Stinger and Telluride.
Joe, would you take this over a camry trd or honda 2.0?
Nope
