This boss fight still has to be one of the greatest of all time. The music, the combat, the cinematic moments, and how much of a badass Sora and Riku were during this fight is just amazing! It was a shame that this sort of level of spectacle wasnt really there for the last bits of 3 until Re:Mind, yet here they pulled out all the stops and said "lets make this as epic as possible"
I can agree. It saddened me that the closest thing we got to anything coming close to this came in the form of DLC . Despite being the clash of 7 light vs 13 darknesses …. It paled to the 2v1 kh2 had… kh3 felt more like a ORG 13 speed run
The problem with 3's final fight was that the visuals were cool on their own but didn't really connect to anything. Whereas the entire plot and score of KH2 are spent hyping up the World That Never Was and what awaits you there. KH3 arranges the pieces for its final battle but there's nowhere near as much setup-and-payoff. And giving Xehanort an all-new design that covers his face for most of it robs the player of personal catharsis.

The problem with KH3 is that there’s no way to show his growth besides him using his glide ability and fighting underwater in the final boss. Sora was already dummy OP at the start of the game even though they say he lost all his powers. Just by the first world, he has form changes, shotlock, flow motion, could run up walls, jump thousands of feet with ease, and was able to beat gods and titans already as if they were common enemies. This final battle was so cool man. I remember playing this as a kid. And I was so hyped up for the next game. Can’t believe the wait is finally over and you got to play as riku. To me that was the coolest thing.
LOL I remember the first time I did this fight, and the part where you gotta deflect all the lasers... I neglected pressing Triangle - my man Riku took soo many lasers to the face before I realized I had to press em both lmao - loved this fight and iunno why but even years later, that ending still makes me happy but sad that it's over - KH's music pulls at your emotions for real
Jeff Chibu Bruhhh same here I realised that after Riku took all the hits, I died, restarted, and did some thinking. But after that both my thumbs just gave out after having to mash Triangle and X so long and hard *pause*
It's beens so long since I last picked up the game, like almost 10. I got super pissed I couldn't get past the lasers and only just now did I find out you have to push BOTH buttons to deflect. Dear god no wonder I kept dying.
Quite possibly one of the most grand final boss battles in video game history. Some might complain that most of the fight sequences is way too scripted and relys to much on the reaction command, but that aspect is also why this fight is so memorable in my opinion.
i remember fighting this boss on critical, and i gotta say, its the best boss battle ever!!! I get chills everytime Xemnas speaks because his voice actor is amazing at it and the music fits flawlessly. ITS JUST SO DAMN GOOD
This fight is truly one of the greatest of time and a lot of people don’t understand the significance of it either. But just grasp the concept that they are fighting at the speed of light. Every move, every slash is being fought at the speed of light people!!!! Sora, and Riku are dodging and countering LIGHT beams!!!! …..let that sink in
31:59 Riku: Well, there is one advantage to being me... Something YOU could never imitate. Sora: Really? What's that? Riku: Having you for a friend. Sora: Then I guess, I'm okay the way I am. I've got something you can never imitate too... Riku: Ohhh yeah? What's that? Sora: Kairi. Riku: What? 🤷♂️ Sora: What? 🤣
And Yen Sid didn't gave Sora the title of Keyblade Master... Just seeing what this boy, being self taught in keyblade combat really makes me question Yen Sid choices.
Zero The Bloodedge More or less wielding a Keyblade is like wielding a sword. Being a Keyblade master isn't about sword skills. It's about strength of heart and control over darkness.
Seeing this play through with the classic kingdom key is a whole different vibe. Makes Sora seem way more badass by using his blunt kingdom key to slice through multiple buildings clean.
I still remember staying up and playing this the weekend it came out back when I was in middleschool. Much like every adult told me at the time, "You don't know how good you've got it till it's gone". :(
Vriska Serket I don't think that was the fruit. that was the trinket Kairi gave him in the first game. She said something along the lines of "Don't lose it, promise?"
See, this is how I KNOW KH3 will be godlike. I mean, think of the legacy of the game! Aside from having one of the most complex stories ever to resolve completely, it's gonna have about a century of Disney and three decades of Final Fantasy as the build. When you look at how much has led into KH3--especially when you look at how long they've put off releasing it---rarely has there EVER been a video game that had this kind of a build up.
No one seems to notice when does let's Riki touch his kingdom key you see a glow for a second. Being that Riki is already had the inheritance ceremony from aqua it seems like Sora gets is the one who has it performed on him then. So Sora will be able to keep his keyblade after Ventus heart is returned.
I just completed this game just today and looking at this i cant believe I managed to get through all this in one piece even though i was playing on beginner and im relatively new to Kingdom of Hearts. I have to say though its the longest and best finale for me in any video-game I have ever played ^^
Brings me chills of mempries i played through this game soooooo many times and i would always save a seperate slot for this boss battle to play it over and over
It was at 2:20 when my heart was beating for the first time and I was hyped up real good and the satisfaction for the final fight was absolutely amazing! Unlike other great hype moments with sloppy final fights just like shadow of mordor. This was worth the hype!
Nothing at all. I'm just trying to say that if the armor got up, we might have had a much harder fight on our hands (y'know, I kinda wish that had happened now lol).
BRUH I remember the first time I finished the ending. Was up until 12 AM. Best thing I ever finished when I was 14. Don't make fun of me though I finished it in beginner. But ended up replaying the game twice until I could play it I'm proud mode. Then replayed it once more. KH 2 is what got me to the other games in the series. Original KH and BBS... heck even CoM was good 👌👌👌🔥🔥🔥 This game was and will always be my favourite. First game I really got into. It wasn't like GTA where I casually played, or DDR, or Need for Speed Underground. It was such an enjoyable game. Such a cool boss battle. Wish the game can be remastered like CoD 4 lol. Maybe when Nomura runs out of excuses for KH 3. They have the new game engine anyways 😂
Bbs is a not playtested mess of a game. It's fun on lower difficulties but on critical it's a broken button masher. And the inconsistency at the final vanitas fight it's insane it kills me.
A great final boss for a great game. Honestly I think if the series had ended here most people would have been fine with it. Sora found his friends, defeated the villains, and they returned home. A overall nice and sweet ending.
I loved the changes and addition to this game, the music specially. However, the thing that pissed me off, I mean, really pissed me off, was that they had to make Xemnas weaker in his armor second fight. this is my favorite part of the fight. It just has everything: awesome atmophere (Sora and Riku are fighting to defeat the root of all their suffering, while having left behind by their friends and ship, about to be sucked into a massive Vortex). It has an imponent dragon with an armored rider that just WON'T go down easily (This is the 4th you fight him). and then Is the music, the best theme I have listened to in my life: the second part of Darkness of the Unknown, playing in the background that keeps my adrenaline pumping non stop. Finally you have Xemnas famous quotes: "Sora, are you certain you can trust Riku?" "Riku, are sure sure you're not jealous of sora?" "Sora, Riku, Ther's falsehood within your hearts, do you dare, deny it?" But guess what? By making Xemnas weaker, he only throws you off two times instead of three, as he first did in the original game, thus, getting rid of some of his quotes (There's no Riku quote on this game) and the action. Man! That pisses me off! Other than that (and weaking other bosses such as mysterious figure in Birth by Sleep and No heart) the game is still great
+Qevon “[The EyePatch Ghoul]” Almost every Final Fantasy final boss though? I mean, they also made this game, so it's no surprise this final boss fight was also epic as fuck. That's always been Square Enix's thing.
My first KH2 Playthrough was in Expert mode and I have to say this battle is more epic and rewarding with the final boss having a lot more health an endurance.
The beginning of this last section is probably my favourite moment in the franchise. The surroundings are surreal and ethereal, it's just Sora and Riku alongside Donald and Goofy, Xemnas is hurling around skyscrapers like an angry toddler amidst a pile of Lego and Sora chops through them as if they were made of styrofoam, launching foes into the World of Nothing's cylinders and catapulting himself between them to avoid the titanic beams they fire, before leaping halfway up the structure as if gravity was less of a law to him and more of a suggestion, destroying its core and the legions of Nobodies that try to protect it, and then absolutely THRASHING Xemnas, now clad in armour, wielding a sword that would make Cloud jealous and apparently so tough he doesn't even bother to get out of his chair while he pelts you with the attacks and weapons of his fallen subordinates, all while A Fight to the Death (one of my absolute favourite songs in the series) is belting away, setting a frantic, and for lack of a better word, downright epic tone to the entire scenario. Absolutely love it to bits.
In some ways, I find that this game actually looks better than KH3. To me, I think it was a mistake for that game to go for a more semi-realistic style as it makes things look somewhat uncanny. Should have stuck to this more stylized look that the older games used.
1. KH2: Sora and Riku vs Xemnas 2. Yakuza 2 (Kiwami 2): Kiryu vs Ryuji 3. DMC 3: Dante vs Vergil 1. Its my personal favorite because you have to fight in multiple phases with Riku to defeat Xemnas. Seeing Sora jumping and slicing skyscrapers like its no problem, then on the Dragon Ship segment with blasting and gathering energy, it was pretty fun, third phase was just fighting him being in suit of armor. Finally, the last one was him in his Final Form being the toughest. Some of the events were awesome such as temporarily playing as Riku when Xemnas saps Sora's healthbar and a clone trying to prevent Riku from reaching him. I also love the iconic dome attack where you have to mash X and triangle to keep both Sora and Riku alive. Then, the exchange where Sora takes Riku's keyblade to attack Xemnas and using Riku's help to shoot a beam of light in him to finish him off with his HP being 1. I like to use a Limit to make it stylish.
It might just be me, but now that I think about it, Xemnas' armor kind of reminds me of Terra's amor, especially because that is his nobody too. Cool lol
Honestly this is one of my favorite final boss fights ever, and also one of the hardest I've ever faced. When I was 11, this was like the hardest thing for me to beat. The build up, cinematics, Xenmas being a badass villain, and the difficultly of it all made this fight stick with me all these years after I beat it.
This game managed to include cinematic events without breaking the fast gameplay flow, even today few games managed to do that
Honestly only times I've seen it used as well as this is the Yakuza series.

I think most people would agree with you. Kh3 has almost nothing on this game
@@ShinPepsiman and it was made in 2006 by the way which is a shocker kh had slicker gameplay but it moments are forgettable compared KH2.
The best Final Boss fight in all of gaming!
The best ending music in all of gaming!
thats a big exaggeration . Do you even fallout ? skyrim? witcher ? Metal gear solid
Skyrim? Realy?
Ive played and beaten all of those except for witcher. none of them even come close.
Dark Souls 3*
This final battle was so cool man. I remember playing this as a kid. And I was so hyped up for the next game. Can’t believe the wait is finally over and you got to play as riku. To me that was the coolest thing.
Technically ya but not completely on playing as Riku
When it comes to final bosses, Kingdom hearts never failed to amaze us.
Jeff Chibu I was the opposite. I thought you only had to press triangle lol. I didn't realize I had to press X too
Jeff Chibu Bruhhh same here I realised that after Riku took all the hits, I died, restarted, and did some thinking.
AHAHAHAHAHAHA
@@scads2155 just played the game as well and after 10+ years forgot boss fights and I also was getting pissed I kept dying on that part 😂
Sora-"That doesn't mean you're eternal!" Xemnas-"No more eternal than that radiance of yours." Me-"shiiieeeeeeezzzzzzz"
In french, I know it's kinda specific, he's more direct and says "Yet, I can assure you I'll outlive both of you."
@@xplorer2111 badass in every in language, as expected from Xemnas XD
Quite possibly one of the most grand final boss battles in video game history.
Some might complain that most of the fight sequences is way too scripted and relys to much on the reaction command, but that aspect is also why this fight is so memorable in my opinion.
Kairi: "we'll be together everyday"
sora: "uh yeah"
me: "sora pack up your crap and run as fast as you can...its only the beginning to a relationship"
+Tucker Clark sora cried over seeing riku again so yeah he's gay for riku
No.
Darth Utah 66 He just wants to reunite the Destiny Island gang.
17:30 I like how Xemnas cape color is exactly like Terra’s armor coloring
Xemnas's first form in the throne, Whirl-A-Goof can kill him almost instantly.
wwetitle818 Cursed foooooool. lol
i remember fighting this boss on critical, and i gotta say, its the best boss battle ever!!! I get chills everytime Xemnas speaks because his voice actor is amazing at it and the music fits flawlessly. ITS JUST SO DAMN GOOD
Couldn’t agree more
'' *Embrace... nothing.* ''
No thanks!
*Exdeath would like to know your location*
25:53 Probably the most epic moment of the final boss battle
This is how you do an epic cinematic finale to a game
This fight is truly one of the greatest of time and a lot of people don’t understand the significance of it either. But just grasp the concept that they are fighting at the speed of light. Every move, every slash is being fought at the speed of light people!!!! Sora, and Riku are dodging and countering LIGHT beams!!!! …..let that sink in
31:59
Riku: Well, there is one advantage to being me... Something YOU could never imitate.
Sora: Really? What's that?
Riku: Having you for a friend.
Sora: Then I guess, I'm okay the way I am. I've got something you can never imitate too...
Riku: Ohhh yeah? What's that?
Sora: Kairi.
Riku: What? 🤷♂️
Sora: What?
John Doe In Short Sora has mastered the tactic of using an enemies strength against them.
@M T not in my gameplaysss
Bruh this dude did it all with the kingdom key thats cool as hell
Seeing this play through with the classic kingdom key is a whole different vibe. Makes Sora seem way more badass by using his blunt kingdom key to slice through multiple buildings clean.
25:52 .... best thing you will ever see in a video game hands down.
I still remember staying up and playing this the weekend it came out back when I was in middleschool. Much like every adult told me at the time, "You don't know how good you've got it till it's gone". :(
This is hands down one of the best final bosses ever.
The dual-wielding part always gets me.
And THAT FREAKING LASER DEFLECTING...
SORA HAS (sorta) SHARED A PAUPOU FRUIT WITH KAIRI, I REPEAT, SORA HAS SHARED A PAUPOU FRUIT WITH KAIRI!!! ALL ABOARD THE SHIPPING TRAIN, TOOT TOOT!!!
Vriska Serket I don't think that was the fruit. that was the trinket Kairi gave him in the first game. She said something along the lines of "Don't lose it, promise?"
Yea but Riku shared one with Sora first.
Gosh dangit XD.
Well I'm sure they have attempted or will do it later soon. They did both draw the same thing in a picture in the secret place.
Well, it’s official now! ^_^
Kingdom Hearts is one of my favorite games
One of my favorite childhood moments right here. Beating Kingdom Hearts 2 in my room during mid summer. Ahh.
Bro. This comment.
This was me too man. Summer just started. And w roxas whole summer vacation shit , it really hit.
Sora Became a dual Keyblade wielder :D well for like fifteen seconds but still.
Jonathan Eldridge Just don't overhype yourself...
Matthew Lee Keep your expectations low, and you'll not be disappointed.
Turns out KH3 is just more buildup.... rip.
This right here is not only my favorite part of the game but the entire series
No one seems to notice when does let's Riki touch his kingdom key you see a glow for a second. Being that Riki is already had the inheritance ceremony from aqua it seems like Sora gets is the one who has it performed on him then. So Sora will be able to keep his keyblade after Ventus heart is returned.
I just completed this game just today and looking at this i cant believe I managed to get through all this in one piece even though i was playing on beginner and im relatively new to Kingdom of Hearts. I have to say though its the longest and best finale for me in any video-game I have ever played ^^
Do you still like it!
@@NickMario1 Yes of course it was alot of fun and very different than what I'm used to ☺️
Brings me chills of mempries i played through this game soooooo many times and i would always save a seperate slot for this boss battle to play it over and over
It's cool how you used the regular key blade during the final boss(es)
Gangster actually
I love how his first and weakest form is the most visually intimidating
the ending gives me hardcore chills everytime
That ending with all the reflects always gave me goosebumps.
I wanna play this so bad but I only got a PS4.
+Zeik War You can find a PS3 at GameStop or any cheap retailer
Zeik War Or just wait for 2.8. It should incluDr more than 2.5.
Draco Ultra Gamer When I made this post I don't think 2.8 was announced.
I definitely plan on doing this.
***** Oh. Well, you'd better get that Arwing ready for the release of the game.
It was at 2:20 when my heart was beating for the first time and I was hyped up real good and the satisfaction for the final fight was absolutely amazing! Unlike other great hype moments with sloppy final fights just like shadow of mordor. This was worth the hype!
Dude the dragon form was so badass to me when I was younger
6:00: Thank your lucky stars that armor did not get up.
What the hell would be wrong if he got up?
Look up the No Heart boss fight from BBS final mix.
I already saw it. I didn't see anything wrong with it.
Nothing at all. I'm just trying to say that if the armor got up, we might have had a much harder fight on our hands (y'know, I kinda wish that had happened now lol).
I love Sora and Riku's chemistry. It's one that I can totally relate to. ❤️🌟
"Fuck it, four boss fights back-to-back." -Nomura, probably
This boss fight, and Xemnas in general, is why I rank KH2 so highly.
6:11 barrier protect of light synchronised with song's rythm, this exact moment gives me feelings that are priceless...
Original KH and BBS... heck even CoM was good 👌👌👌🔥🔥🔥
This game was and will always be my favourite.
To me this is THE BEST gaming series of all TIME
29:55 Sora: "You know...Maybe the darkness has gotten to me, too."
Me: After what happens to you in 3D Drop Dream Distance...I can believe that...
A great final boss for a great game. Honestly I think if the series had ended here most people would have been fine with it. Sora found his friends, defeated the villains, and they returned home. A overall nice and sweet ending.
Hits different when you realise this is the only KH game with a "happy ending".
@@dinorex3464 It really does.
Finally you have Xemnas famous quotes:
"Sora, are you certain you can trust Riku?"
"Riku, are sure sure you're not jealous of sora?"
"Sora, Riku, Ther's falsehood within your hearts, do you dare, deny it?"
But guess what? By making Xemnas weaker, he only throws you off two times instead of three, as he first did in the original game, thus, getting rid of some of his quotes (There's no Riku quote on this game) and the action. Man! That pisses me off! Other than that (and weaking other bosses such as mysterious figure in Birth by Sleep and No heart) the game is still great
dear PowerButtonGaming pls do not ever delete this video, it gives me so much memories and goosebumps
LOL if only boss fights in games were like kingdom hearts boss fights like games would be so much better. WE need this in other games.
If only more games had more boss fights like the ones in Devil May Cry, Ninja Gaiden, and Bayonetta
+Qevon “[The EyePatch Ghoul]” Almost every Final Fantasy final boss though? I mean, they also made this game, so it's no surprise this final boss fight was also epic as fuck. That's always been Square Enix's thing.
Sans boss fight from Undertale maybe?
+Koopa Sensei
undertale is nothing like kh wtf
Deyztro Productions I don't even like Undertale.
My first KH2 Playthrough was in Expert mode and I have to say this battle is more epic and rewarding with the final boss having a lot more health an endurance.
This was a much better final boss in my opinion.
Kairi: We'll be together forever, right Sora?
Sora: Yeah!
Xehanort: I'm gonna do what's called a pro gamer move in about 10-15 years
where the fuck was aqua when they got to the realm of darkness they couldve been her ride out
sean obihiro She got there after Sora and Riku left.
sean obihiro The realm of darkness is a big place.
sean obihiro Aren't there supposed to be 2 shores or something? Aqua and Ansem on one, Riku and Sora on the other?
How much older i am - i will ever love KH 2
6:14 "curse and woo" thats what i always heard the line as and it always makes me laugh
Man I wonder what 5 final boss set up we will have for KH3.... So excited!
Best Kingdom hearts boss fight ever
1. KH2: Sora and Riku vs Xemnas
2. Yakuza 2 (Kiwami 2): Kiryu vs Ryuji
3. DMC 3: Dante vs Vergil
Nothing last forever Xemnas.. except Riku' potions actually
This brought back so many childhood memories!
this final battle in kh2 was a better final boss than kh1. a lot cooler and epic than the first game. i love epic final battles.
It might just be me, but now that I think about it, Xemnas' armor kind of reminds me of Terra's amor, especially because that is his nobody too. Cool lol
The ending is so beautiful 😄
i like how mickey does an AMAZING JOB and splitting up
Honestly this is one of my favorite final boss fights ever, and also one of the hardest I've ever faced. When I was 11, this was like the hardest thing for me to beat. The build up, cinematics, Xenmas being a badass villain, and the difficultly of it all made this fight stick with me all these years after I beat it.
Damn, you nailed all the timing in the music. Props.
