- After many attempts to get the Durango started I moved on to removing the damaged parts so I could order everything that I need to fix it.

Man it blows my mind how much effort you put into these builds its crazy. Also can we take some time to appreciate how knowledgeably you are about body work and repair work its just crazy!

What blows my mind is how ppl manage to crash a brand new car ….if you can’t handle the power don’t buy it i also blame rich parents for buying these type of cars for their 18 yo then this happens cars like this should last forever not like this bc ppl can’t handle the power

As an auto body technician I have mad respect for your knowledge and craftsmanship but as an auto body tech I'm also completely mind blown of how much faith and love you have for mopars.... Literally every one I know in the industry talks trash about mopar including mechanics. The 1 single good thing they've done is build high performance engines.

Check engine light is flashing (at key on) because the emissions monitors have'nt been run yet (in another words, the system is ready). This is because your other battery was dead, which reset the emissions monitors in the PCM.
The red brake light is on because of the ABS system issues. The red brake indicator actually has three functions in Chrysler products. 1 is for low fluid in the master cylinder, 2 is for parking brake set indication and 3 as a back up for the ABS light, in the event that the ABS indicator is inop. I also commented in your last video about your battery issues. I'm a Chrysler tech of 22yrs.
Dave, I don't think it matters if any of the doors, hatch or hood are open if you are manually starting the car, the brake switch would. On the other hand the remote start feature is the opposite, the brake switch wouldn't, but the hood, hatch and doors open would prevent it from starting. Also any MIL would also prevent a remote start. Good Luck! Keep the content coming!
Don’t replace whole pump, just the black electric component, it is held by 4 small bolts, so you don’t have to bleed the brakes, and then just reprogram the module. Just did this last week on my scat pack

If you have a fault code on the brake pedal position sensor not working the car will not start and if you have an electric gear leaver you can not change gear. In your case, I would check the harness under the steering wheel to see that everything is fine and then replace the brake pedal position sensor and then try starting the car. (You will also have an info message that reads: Apply brake pedal and press start.)
Also if the battery is left flat for too long it will get damaged like a cell is broken, on modern cars even if you put a jumper to the bad battery it will not start because the amperage draw is too high. Only way to go about it is changing the battery like you did.

Oh for the old days when cars weren't controlled by computers and things were simple and you could fix a car with basic tools. Lucky me, I have a car like that, a 1982 Mitsubishi L300. Hope you get to the bottom of the not starting issue. All the best from Queensland Australia.

Yup you have to step on the brake pedal for the car to start , the scan tool shows all kind of brake sensor problems so the car computer will not let it start because it does not "see" that you are stepping on the brake pedal. Plus you said that the pedal was way too hard and not moving down.
Why would you have to step on the brake for the remote start? That defeats the whole purpose of the remote start
@@tomd5288 If the Remote Start senses the brake pedal is "depressed" it won't remote start the car. If you were to remote start it and get in and hit the brake pedal before hitting the start button, the vehicle would shut down. Its a safety feature

Crank pulley looked bent when you spun the engine over

Just watching the video and noticed that bent crank pulley as well.
I liked the geek out moment when he was talking about the clear in the jambs lol
Often there is a rollover sensor behind one of the kick panels or near the fuel pump.
These usually shut of the fuel pump but they can also lock out the transmission and other systems and sometimes have a pyrolitic fuse that goes with the airbags.
Sometimes they can be reset usually you need a new one.

Did you try putting it in rice overnight? Usually does the trick
The crankshaft vibration damper wobbles when your were trying to start it. If you didn't know already.
check engine light flashes to let you know not all monitors are ready. remote start won't work unless every door, hood and rear hatch are secured. also remote start won't work if there are any fault codes in system.
If the brake pedal isn't depressing it isn't triggering the sensor. Try pulling brake light switch and see if it will signal. My tarus wouldn't start and it was a bad switch.

*Since it was on it's side, maybe there is an inertia switch that is tripped keeping it from starting? that's a thing in some GM vehicles, I'm still kinda new to Dodge and mine is an 06 mega cab, not quite the same thing as what you're fighting*

I really want to take a hatch like that, cut the window frame off, and mount the bottom on my wall as a display piece. Have it set up to light up the rear lights. Just would look cool to me. Like the display 70 Camaro rear end at my local summit racing store.
Put a flat screen TV in where the window was.

Check for fuel pressure along with the brake sensor it should crank after you repair the sensor because of the emergency braking feature. It initially locks the brakes to reduce roll away in an accident.
So my thought is to check the pedal sensor make sure when you press it down it is releasing the switch all the way. The pedal being stiff is because it’s been pressed so much without running. Try putting the car in the run position and jumping the starter to see if it will run🤞🏽

You’re doing an amazing job, good to see this Durango SRT hellcat being saved. The first gen Durangos have clear coat around the rear hatch and the pillars too. Idk about the second gens tho.

Im have rebuiled like 10 durango so im very good on this issues.
Definitely an issue with the brake pedal sensor or the abs module is damaged and not sending a brake pedal message to the pcm to allow the engine to start. It’s normal for the pedal to get really hard if everyone who’s been in this have been smashing the brake pedal to start it and it’s just pumping up the brake hydraulics

It's still beyond me how you remember how all the parts and fasteners go back together...and how you keep track of all the parts and fasteners. For multiple similar vehicles at a time.

Check the fuel reset back by the fuel neck. They may have pulled the pull that cuts it off

Hey man glad to see that u bringing it back to like, and fun fact, I own a 2021 hellcat Durango too, and I noticed the back key, and the Durango’s only came with both of the keys red idk what happened there with yours
Smart to get it running before transplanting it. Troubleshooting will be much easier.
Does the scan tool have an option to relearn the brake pedal position sensor. I've run into this but you may not have the option with an aftermarket scan tool. I'm a Chrysler master tech of 25 years. Love the mopars
It needs a factory code to clear stuff though which I dont have
Invest in My Tuner software and hardware. it goes beyond factory and dealer capabilities.

Don’t break out the window. Surgically remove the sheet metal. Flip side is replacing the window worth the time saving.

When you go to paint it please paint the windshield wiper cover too.
If there is a switch or position sensor on the brake pedal, you can try to jump it, for it to start. Given that you say the pedal is so hard, it might not be triggering.
For the starting issue check the starter
the jeep GC SRT has the same issue at times. if you have a remote start module it will start regardless of the brake sensor..
If you get the acetylene torch you can make a nice small pry bar out of the long flat head
Turn the ignition on, jump the starter relay, and it will start, its your broken abs thats not letting it start now
I have no doubt you will get it started soon.
Are the brake lights lighting when you hit the pedal
Its the abs module. Im going crazy watching you trying to get it running i wish i was there to get it running in 1 minutes. Oh my god. Let me be there to help. Put another abs module electronic part from another vehicle and it will start. Like the charger
When all is said and done, you'll have more money in this than buying a new one. You must justove fixing things, which is cool, even if it ends up being a financial loss.
It probably a break sensor and it probably thinking that the break isn’t being push in i think it under the break paddle I think you can override it but could be wrong.
harmonic balancer was wobbling
I’ve seen that problem before the abs module causes it not to start
I watched the Goonzquad so a rebuild on a Streethawk and SRT Charger and if I remember correctly, there's a fuse by the battery that blows to keep it from starting. Just an idea to check.

Dave... Havent seen you mention this.. If it was infact a rollover. Isnt their a rollover kill switch that needs to be reset? Or am I wrong?
I noticed when you jumped the relay turning over the engine, it looked like either the crank pulley or harmonic balancer was not running true. You might look at that.
Hey dave looks like the harmonic balancer is tweaked a bit. She wobbled when you jumped the starter....12:07
Technically, I think it's not a balancer. It is just a pulley. It's not keyed to the crank at all, just press fit.
Just a heads up, looks like you have a crank pulley bent/wobble when you jumped the starter around 12:05
You should have tried to jump the starter with the ignition on I bet she would have fired up

Brampton assembly where they build the charger challenger and 300 has a very outdated paint shop! It was in our 2020 contact that within the next 4 years they will be getting a 325 million dollar paint shop retooling, was suppose to happen Aug of 2020 but covid screwed that up! It is much much needed and the products will show afterward!

Dave I had the same Problem with mine Srt Durango.. If it helps in any type of way it was a defective Starter .. Dealer did replacement for me

Turn on the ignition and then bypass the starter relay and the engine should start.
So I had a problem getting my car to start after it was in a accident it only ripped off my fender and broke my headlight but i also shredded a wiring harness the ran between fender and the front clip I had a displayed message saying no bus which means I had no commication from the cluster to the ecu so it wouldn't let me start it back up it's possible your dealing with a wiring problem

I thin,kk they only clear the engine comparment and other are you named on SRTs, when you pay 80K you expect that level of quality but when when it's an SXT that sutpid.... also on the magnum they were going bankrupt at the time so they kind of cut cost everywhere
