I tend to disagree on the vgt egr topic, I've found that removing the cat makes the turbo run alot cooler and when the car is granny driven for a couple hundred miles the vanes tend to get stuck ... how i usally tread this, is take the car for a good highway drive hitting the redline a few times , the heat burns all the debris from vanes and nozzle ring. Egr delete isnt what cause the vanes to get stuck but actually removing catalytic converter/muffler ect. The more heat the better . This was only my experience and its on a TDI car and not a truck so it might be a different story there. Great video keep up the good work
Interesting! I did a EGR and DPF delete on my D-Max Pickup truck because the DPF causes problems if your are not running pure white diesel and the EGR just got cloaked when you are driving in the city. I get from time to time a P0237 code and oil in the intake. Now I will follow your "Italian" method and look how it goes...
The piston ring seals don't need to 'relax' to cause an oil leak. A brand new turbo in perfect condition will allow oil past those rings if the oil inside the turbo rises to the level of the gap in the piston ring.
@@momentumworx Nice. So what do u recommend for the feed and exit drain. I was looking into the 12 AN size. I have ur sxe 480 on my 12.7 Detroit. I don't know if I should run a 6 an or 8 an. And what type of hoses . Thanks for your videos
I've just refitted my turbo today on a Audi TT mk1 225 and got one side of the car jacked up on axel stands, started the engine was fine till I gave it a little gas and then oil starts to spert out the top and over filled by an inch on the dipstick, so hopefully once oil drained a little and car is flat this spraying out the top of the turbo wont happen
maybe a jammed waste gate valve causes excessive rpm of turbo shaft that can damage the seal and eventually break the shaft.Safe if you install turbo gauge so you will be alarmed if boost goes beyond normal.
Thanks for the informative video. My Nissan Terrano (TD27 engine) is getting oil into the air intake and sometimes does a runaway when still cold. There is oil around the boost pipe, could there be oil accumulated somewhere that causes this? Most times I start the engine when cold there is rough running, blue smoke, and chuffing exhaust. It behaves fine when hot. The piston rings seem ok, after long downhill deceleration, then sudden acceleration at the bottom, there’s no blue smoke from exhaust.
Curious about this i installed a new Journal Bearing 3076r on the engine making 85psi cold start and up to 100psi at the top of pull. We are running no restrictor in the feed as its a journal bearing, but think we may need one for the PSI. We get oil in the compressor wheel.
Mitsu Td04 is a VERY durable turbo Look elsewhere for a problem. Factory oil return lines between Turbo and Oil sump are obviously... Stupidly undersized.. ! Oil can't get out as fast as it's being fed to the Turbo . ID of the oil drain tube needs to be 18mm MINIMUM Creating excessive oil back pressures which forces itself thru any and All paths it can Find
Good video i do have a question. I have a 2018 mercedes s560. I noticed that the car shorts oil and i have to top up. Also noticed was oil on the intake of the turbocharger. Is it normal?
Have a 2017 Ford Escape Titanium with 50k miles that has been diagnosed with a turbo leak. Seemingly on the exhaust side. If the leak is caused by one of the reasons you mentioned does that mean you could replace the air filter for example and the problem would be fixed? We are at a loss as to what to do!?
Hi. My 2012 Spanish built Nissan Navara D40 St-X Diesel when idling its fine but dies off when i give throttle. It also smoke a whitish blue haze. Symptoms is its hard starting however there's no oil in coolant or coolant in sump oil. Would you have any idea what may cause this?.
Good video but what do you mean a difference between manifold pressure and boost pressure at idle causing a pressure difference? Isn't manifold pressure the same as boost pressure?
Manifold (Drive Pressure) is the air that's coming out of the exhaust manifold and driving the exhaust wheel in the turbo. Boost pressure is what the turbo is actually outputting
Hi i need some help.. m57 525d 145kw.. the turbine was leaking a little oil into the intake manifold.. so it had to be rebuilt.. After the rebuild, I installed it and the turbine was pushing oil from the exhaust and intake side.. I had it rebuilt once more.. they said it was fuel in oil.. I had the injectors rebuilt.. I put everything back together.. and the oil pushed out again, it's strange to me, because before the the turbine didn't do that.. if u know anything...
I have a 2011 6.7l powerstroke and I removed the DPF and left the egr on the engine but it's disconnected, are you saying that EGTs are hotter with the dpf disconnected, I thought it helped the engine breathe better and run cooler. Did I under stand you correctly?
Wait you had me at excessive idle. In the last year my Colorado has been doing this. If i idle for a long time and then get going there's always an oil burn off smell. I've never seen any corresponding smoke though. Should i be concerned? Just cut back on the idle time?
Good evening great mains, please.y Mercedes Benz 2009 Gl 320 bluetec short engine oil and the engine is very much ok and I am told that is from the turbocharger, please help me thank you.

Cool video! I love the cut-out turbos. Very helpful

Yes, that’s correct! That’s literally a topic covered in this video.
Thanks for your comment 👍

Thanks!! I learned some good stuff!
Oky thanks guys for the info I will try it because it sometimes run smoothly without leaking
Great video! A lot of information here.

What about BB turbo's???? Excessive crankcase pressure can cause oil to push past seals also!
If the turbo oil pipe leaks air, what kind of problems will occur in the cold engine of the vehicle?
Why is their oil coming from compressor wheel side It was covered in oil all in the air intake tube / box
Great instruction I just twinned mine and it smoking I believe it’s definitely idle.
maybe a jammed waste gate valve causes excessive rpm of turbo shaft that can damage the seal and eventually break the shaft.Safe if you install turbo gauge so you will be alarmed if boost goes beyond normal.
I have a Turbo on the Cummins ISL Engine and it has a oil leak in it

The piston rings seem ok, after long downhill deceleration, then sudden acceleration at the bottom, there’s no blue smoke from exhaust.
Does that mean you could get blow by with a failed seal on the exhaust side? Is blowby in your oil filler a possible symptom of a failed turbo seal?

Why is there oil in my intake in the turbo side? I'm also getting oil in my my filter box as well. I have a 2016 Kia optima sx.

Help! My Hilux turbo diesel had a full rebuild and a brand new turbo fitted. The turbo is leaking oil from the housing. Any idea as to why??

at 2min 20sec their is a camp to hot side. If that clamp is ever so slightly loose can oil leak out?

What about a bad PCV?
could it be a vaccume leak? So its to much pressure in the Turbo oil drain pipe?
I put New. And my. Truck 2002 lb7 and still. Leak. And muffler Lot. Smoke Can you helpe me

You can bump up the idle a bit to help mitigate the issue
