Putting the noise and smoke to the fault was genius I keep checking all my hoses and now I know a hiss is likely to be and exhaust leak I can hopefully put this problem to bed once its stopped F-ing raining 🌧

This is fantastic! Replicating multiple different sounds and smoke is something that I've never seen before on RUclips videos. My car is currently cutting out immediately after it starts up, but when I disconnect the turbo actuator, or the wiring connector to the actuator, it starts just fine, but obviously runs a bit weird driving without the turbo. And the actuator is not sticking either, and I just cleaned out the turbo last year.

Very informative video bro, I have a 2002 Audi a4 and I'm experiencing most of these issues. Lack of power, White smoke from exhaust and turbo making a type of screaming noise. At first, I thought It could be the head gasket and I'm still not completely sure it isn't but after watching this I think it's the turbo. Appreciate the help man!
Yeh gr8 breakdown about turbos in four stages with an identifier one to go with it ...ive got lol a renault master atm and i have no boost bit your vkdeos have given me a bigger picture relating to other problem s ive had with van ,im on second turbo and this has gone silent no power ..the good news is everyone with a dci engine will have similar issues...to cut a long story short ,wear and tare could mean alot of blowby gases (egr valve choking quickly ,,question is if engines too far gone or is it now a stuck actuator Issue...2002 2.2dci ren master. I bought perfonace air filter cone (K&N) with Heat shield and he starts noice like whining or siren before i put the cone i had the box air filter perfonce (K&N) and i dont listening thi noise . Im a bit late but could a bad turbo also cause a misfire? I know my turbo is failing as I have a lack of power when driving. It even makes a bad screeching noise around 2.5K-3k rpms.
Hi Robin, After replacing the turbocharger my car has black smoke and low power. After som research I find a very glogged map sensor. I clean the map sensor and managed to remove a lot of oil and carbon from the hull in the intake manifold. I clean the map sensor 6 time. Now I have no black smoke. The engine has low power when cold. After 15 minutes drive and the engine get hot over 80 or higher. I can stop and start again now my turbo is working. What do you think is my problem? Is my intake manifold to glogged of oil carbon that the flaps do not work as it should. Do I need a complete clean of the intake manifold? Last three days my turbocharger is working fine after 15 to 20-minute drive. Any good suggestion? Please help me

I have 1997 2,3 liter turbo volvo gasoline. Boost usually comes at 2500rpm, but now it comes only at 4000rpm and I got grey smoke out of exhaust. I tried everything, bit now I start to think about bad turbo, but there is no new sounds, the blow off works as usual.
I’ve heard noticeable chirping noise that starts around 4k ish rpm and I can’t figure out if it’s the turbo or not. I’ve took it to Audi to get the headlights adjusted and I asked to check the engine because I’ve noticed a weird noise. They said they didn’t hear anything unusual and did a multipoint inspection. I feel like it is a bit slower than it used to be when I give it full throttle. The noise isn’t always apparent so I don’t know if it is a major issue or not. I just hit 20k miles also.
But what if the sound you get when under load is more like a old bi-plane? Like a hole in the exhaust noise... When idling or even revving in neutral, I don't get the noise. But when I get to around 2,500rpm it gets really loud.

3:34 just sounds like someone has tampered with the blow of valve🤔 it’s bad if you got the fluttering sound while on boost but if it is while letting of the throttle it’s typically no worries (if you like the sound and drive a modified car that’s tuned or the parts is specificity made to handle it) on a stock engine it puts a lot of stress on the compressor wheel because the air is forced out of the compressor wheel
Flutter does put stress on modified of stock engine's turbo, its just noise coming from compressor because the throttle valve is closed and air cant escape the intake system. Im really not sure if there is evidence that it breaks the turbo.
Tarmo Alaspää yes the turbo is capable of handling the extra stress I drove a 940 turbo and many of my friends do to and we have had the blow of valve removed and they’re holding up just fine

Since I installed a new larger turbo I have had this whistle that souns like a 747 jet and have thought it is how its meant to be as it is also kind of cool but would much prefer it to not be there so will perform a smoke test. Best way to fix it is to replace it with a supercharger, unless you have a diesel. You will have much better response, less heat buildup, and less junk under the hood. making it more fun to own and drive.

Hello Robin, i have interesting problem with my car. If i kick down full throttle, then turbo goes off in high revs, then i turn off car and than start up car again turbo normally run, but than if i kick down throttle again, turbo goes off again... and car dont turn into emergency mode or doesnt show anything on dashboard or also diagnostic problem, maybe blow off valve can be broken or something with pressure? Hey, I installed the cone air filter, and now turbo noise is much more present, which is normal. I, however, get some sort of small grind after the PSHHHH when I release the throttle. Like pshshhhhhh-grr... Any experience with that?

Hello. The turbo of our car pajero 1996 leaked oil. I get it fixed sending it to a machine shop. Then they fabricate a new bushing and piston ring for the turbo. We install it back. But we have a new problem. It lacks rev and power and it is emitting huge black smoke. What could be the problem? Hope you can help us..

Robin. My XC70 diesel runs well for a while then l get a hesitation on acceleration and changing up. Just before the the acceleration l get a sucking noise as if there is a blockage then it clears, the noise stops and l get normal acceleration. The longer the journey the more frequent it happens. Especially bad when l go up a steep hill. Sometime the engine service light comes on. My car has been to various mechanics and the problem has not been cured. The car is very good as regards routine servicing and all the pipe work and intercooler is new. The MAF fault sign used to come on but has not recently. Any advice would be appreciated. Andrew
I have a Nissan Navara LE, I had some oil seeping from turbo and the it was pumped through to the compressor and oil was leaking from the tubes leading to the intercooler. I washed off all the oil externally and cleaned up all the oil. However, now the car is lacking power. The turbo isnt kicking in at above 2500rpm.. I have been able to drive around but at low rpm, below 2000rpm. Engine is giving off a thick black smoke and I have oil also leaking from one of the fuel injectors on the engine head. Is my turbo damaged? What may be the issue here? Please help.
i have a 2013 chevy sonic ltz it’s a 4 cylinder with a turbo in it. sometimes when i accelerate i pour smoke out of the exhaust & lose power but then it goes away & doesn’t reappear for awhile. i had it put in the shop & was told my radiator cap fell apart & had bad o2 sensors. i got those replaced but still have the same issue. it doesn’t happen everytime i take off but sometimes if i take off to hard i’ll lose the power & see a huge cloud of smoke behind me. it’s hard to pin point if it’s white or grey. but i haven’t noticed any leaks & i haven’t overheated nor has my check engine light come on. anyone have any ideas on what this could be?
I don't know, I got GQ patrol with turbo 2.8l and I thinking turbo not working. I use be able to just hear turbo on a quiet road or if I was driving next to a concrete wall. Except for the not being able to hear the turbo the only thing is power but not sure as it wasn't very powerful and clutch is on its way out to.

turbo good, there something different- may you need buy used from another car engine! died engine, or may some one fixed could tell more? i had same problem - no power, changed new tyurbo, catalyc dpf, new injectors. new fuel filter, air filter, spark plugs new. engine breather new, nothing better, no power engine died, noise making same what is in the bideo
My old turbo broke down and start to burn oil and i could’t turn off the car it run with full gas for about 30 seconds then it stop by it self i replaced it with a NEW one and in the frist it dident even go 60km/h and it has white smoke from the tailpipe alot of smoke that smelled like burning oil and the whole car shaked alot like it was freezing cold but now afer 1 week of driving it has more power still shakes but a bit less and still smokes from the tailpipe and smells like burning oil….its a Diesel VW Sharan…

When accelerating, you can hear sound near turbo somewhere. No oil leak signs, no bad bearing noises, etc. But you can hear air blowing when accelerating. Can the turbine itself be bad or leak air ? Or it could be a pipe leak, but no one borhers to find, becouse turbo is hard to acces. How to tell if we need new turbo ? Or we need a new mechanic :)
Hey Robin i have a s4 2.7 before i went for a ride i always like checking my oil level and it was right on spot later on i went for a ride and i tride to floor it and then i saw lack of power and i was throwing alot of white smoke and when i pulled over i lost alot of oil my coolant was on level as well could that be ny turbo gone bad and would it caused it to lose oil from exhuast
Will it throw a CEL if there is a broken blade? I have a Sti with constant whistling noise usually at highway speeds. The noise is there whether on throttle or off. Can tell if it is just regular subbie cabin noise or what.

Second, I have a 2011 Hyundai Genesis coupe 2.0t and I had the car tuned and it was pushing about 400 hp to the back wheels, but I had the battery go bad and I replaced it and it feels like it’s in limp mode like the turbo isn’t there, but sometimes it wants to work and does. It just sounds like air going thru the turbo. It’s just weird. I figured you’d probably know what it was before me so I figured I’d give it a shot and ask. My friend said it may be the wires to the battery or the antifreeze. Does that sound right?
Not right at all. I would check your air filters and have a Hyundai technician take a peek at it. Genesis turbos are trash in my opinion I had the same issue and had to sell the car.

Best way to fix it is to replace it with a supercharger, unless you have a diesel. You will have much better response, less heat buildup, and less junk under the hood. making it more fun to own and drive.

Hi my acura rdx 2008 turbo engine, when I accelerate pedal its doesn't go fast, and it's tale stumbling, hesitation. After 30/40 speed then it's run fine, I changed map airflow sensor, airfilter, nothing fix, I scan by obd2, it's show ecm pcm problem. Hello Robin, i have interesting problem with my car. If i kick down full throttle, then turbo goes off in high revs, then i turn off car and than start up car again turbo normally run, but than if i kick down throttle again, turbo goes off again... and car dont turn into emergency mode or doesnt show anything on dashboard or also diagnostic problem, maybe blow off valve can be broken or something with pressure? Hello. The turbo of our car pajero 1996 leaked oil. I get it fixed sending it to a machine shop. Then they fabricate a new bushing and piston ring for the turbo. We install it back. Robin. My XC70 diesel runs well for a while then l get a hesitation on acceleration and changing up. Just before the the acceleration l get a sucking noise as if there is a blockage then it clears, the noise stops and l get normal acceleration. The longer the journey the more frequent it happens. Especially bad when l go up a steep hill. Sometime the engine service light comes on. My car has been to various mechanics and the problem has not been cured. The car is very good as regards routine servicing and all the pipe work and intercooler is new.
The MAF fault sign used to come on but has not recently.
Any advice would be appreciated.

I have a Nissan Navara LE, I had some oil seeping from turbo and the it was pumped through to the compressor and oil was leaking from the tubes leading to the intercooler.
I washed off all the oil externally and cleaned up all the oil. However, now the car is lacking power. The turbo isnt kicking in at above 2500rpm.. I have been able to drive around but at low rpm, below 2000rpm. Engine is giving off a thick black smoke and I have oil also leaking from one of the fuel injectors on the engine head.
Is my turbo damaged? What may be the issue here? Please help.

i have a 2013 chevy sonic ltz it’s a 4 cylinder with a turbo in it. sometimes when i accelerate i pour smoke out of the exhaust & lose power but then it goes away & doesn’t reappear for awhile. i had it put in the shop & was told my radiator cap fell apart & had bad o2 sensors. i got those replaced but still have the same issue. it doesn’t happen everytime i take off but sometimes if i take off to hard i’ll lose the power & see a huge cloud of smoke behind me. it’s hard to pin point if it’s white or grey. but i haven’t noticed any leaks & i haven’t overheated nor has my check engine light come on. anyone have any ideas on what this could be?
I don't know, I got GQ patrol with turbo 2.8l and I thinking turbo not working. I use be able to just hear turbo on a quiet road or if I was driving next to a concrete wall. Except for the not being able to hear the turbo the only thing is power but not sure as it wasn't very powerful and clutch is on its way out to.

When accelerating, you can hear sound near turbo somewhere. No oil leak signs, no bad bearing noises, etc. But you can hear air blowing when accelerating. Can the turbine itself be bad or leak air ? Or it could be a pipe leak, but no one borhers to find, becouse turbo is hard to acces. How to tell if we need new turbo ? Or we need a new mechanic :)

Second, I have a 2011 Hyundai Genesis coupe 2.0t and I had the car tuned and it was pushing about 400 hp to the back wheels, but I had the battery go bad and I replaced it and it feels like it’s in limp mode like the turbo isn’t there, but sometimes it wants to work and does. It just sounds like air going thru the turbo. It’s just weird. I figured you’d probably know what it was before me so I figured I’d give it a shot and ask. My friend said it may be the wires to the battery or the antifreeze. Does that sound right?
Not right at all. I would check your air filters and have a Hyundai technician take a peek at it. Genesis turbos are trash in my opinion I had the same issue and had to sell the car.
