Enjoy your videos, and you are right cavitation is bad. It will destroy pumps and such. But it is caused by fluid entering a pump (or in a pump inlet pipe) being drawn into vacuum. Harder the vacuum, the lower the boiling point of the fluid. Pump pulling a hard suction on inlet boils fluid creating bubbles. Then when these bubbles transfer to the high pressure side of the pump, they collapse, violently. When they collapse it creates very small high velocity jets of fluid which impact pump gears/pistons/vanes and cause the infamous cavitation damage you see.

I inherited a 2006 Bentley Flying Spur. It was my late fathers and I really wanted to preserver the car. W12 Twin Turbo. 54k so at first thought you would think a good car. Unfortunately, it sat for a few years not able to be driven and the car suffered from that but also repairs by a "so called expert" in these cars. I am very mechanically inclined, but this car is a very tough cookie to work on. It was a previously owned car by a limo company, and for some reason they painted it white ( I am sure they could have gotten it wrapped ) original color jade green. In total I was looking at over 24k in repairs and paint. Such a shame, but I had to let it go. Even if you have a car that sits in your garage. You need to drive it. Keep fresh oil and other fluids. Seals need to stay lubricated. But also if you buy a brand like AMG / Mercedes or Bentley... prepare for some real steep repairs if something breaks.

When water is cooled to ice the it expands due to crystalline structure (phase change). Nothing to do with incompressible media.
Water at 5000 bar may still compress a few percent due to dissolved gasses present in the liquid. But for all practical purpose liquids such as water, diesel are non compressible.
Drilling a bit in the center may still not work out as the fracture surface may not be perpendicular leveled with the threaded bore.
Ideally you need to use a guide bushing that centers the pilot drill during the drilling process.

Hi Dave, I am looking towards buying an engine that is rare and expensive in my area for a swap that is a good price but it experienced piston to valve contact. Do you think it would be worth it to rebuild it at home and have a shop do the machine work or would it be too far gone? I have a head that may fit if the original is too gone and would like to keep the crank as they are very expensive and difficult to find. Thank you for your time,
    -James Anderson

I truly like the show, I'm not sure how to get ahold of Dave but it is frustrating to call to get an estimate to have a rebuilt done and the young lady on the phone has the personality of a wall. I'm very disappointed in the customer service level I felt like I was interrupting that young lady and she had something more important to do, very sad.

Water does not break a glass when it freezes because water can't be compressed. Dave is mixing apples and oranges. Water breaks a glass when it freezes because it becomes less dense, it expands. The less-dense aspect of frozen water is the reason that ice floats. Dave should stick to diesels.

I got a 1963 Chevy pickup truck it's never been touched nothing on it original everything, except for tires fan belts and radiator hoses. Everything stores perfect. I thought things were supposed to get better not worse😢, that poor Chevy pickup truck ready for the junkyard.
