Nice vid. I have 51k on my ‘22 Pathfinder, changed my pads x2 already. I get 15-17k from rear brake with a couple mm to spare (Prevention is better than cure). Haven’t change the front yet. NEVER let you pads get too low to destroy your rotors, that way you can change pads only. Dealer service said that the rear will go first, which I thought to be unusual. I think the AWD and stabilization while braking has something to do with it, plus she’s front end heavy. Great vid, keep ‘em coming.
Ours is 2wd and rear pads were done at every 20k miles. Currently has 42k miles and we replaced it twice. While front brakes were at %40 left, rotors started to warp. So I replaced front rotors and pads last week. Also we do lot of Citi driving and stopandgo
Hello all I also bought my 2022 Nisan Pathfinder Platinum, and at 18000 miles I have 1mm left on my rear brakes. I called the Nissan Headquarters, and they suggetsted that I take my vehicle to another Nissan Dealer to make sure. This is ridiculous for the price we pay. Sad Sad Sad 😞

Is your Launch OBD tool the "2024 Elite Launch X431 Full System Bi-Directional Scanner for Nissan..."? I've read that this specific Launch tool will actually do the EPB reset.
Your welcome! Ya I’m not sure if the Launch tool will work. Check the website maybe there is information on witch vehicles it works with. I’ve had good luck with Ancel scanners for the vehicle make (BMW, VW, Volvo) but I don’t think they have one for Nissan.
We bought 2022 Pathfinder platinum 2wd. At 20k miles, rear brake pads were at its lowest. Dealer replaced pads and turned rotors. At 40 kk miles, pads are finished again. I replaced it this time using a 12v battery. It was very simple to do. I just can not believe how small the rear brake pads were on such a big vehicle. They seem like smaller than rear pads at Civic. For those who like ve near by AutoZone and does brakes themselves, I would get gold pads from them which is covered on wear and tear. They will give you free new brake pads, no matter how many times are worn out as last ng as you own the vehicle (any vehicle).
I also own Xtool A30 but I am not sure if the tool will spin electric brake caliper when replacing with new pads. It will make service easier if a small tool like that can do the job.
There should be a class action suit on this one , there is so many same complaints , rear brakes should last way longer then front , especially not failing at 20k miles
@jeff346 in all my time working at the dealer. This is common among all makes and models specifically with AWD. It’s comes down to how people drive honestly. More torque to wheels, more brake power needed to slow the vehicle down. Sucks but it’s common

Dealer did is from the lane assist and auto breaking at lights and what not. Is all controlled from those tiny pads on the back. That's why they wear out so fast.
I had thought of that but I’m not convinced that they only use the rear brakes for any type of traction control that will be safe. I think it’s just an excuse at this point. I did think maybe the hill start option. But I would have to prove that the rear brakes are applied during that.
you said that there is a small stopper on the brake pads. I don't understand what it's for, because there's no contact there. could you please explain?
I like AutoZone gold pads and they cover for wear and tear. So, you can replace it as many time as you like for free as long as you own the same vehicle.
you need to register your scan tool and pay 50.00 a year to unlock your scanner with Nissan, jeep and chrysler so far i think all manufactuers will be doing this. according to snap-on nissan has not released the permission to unlock there scanner as of 3-4-2024
My 2022 Pathfinder is a complete piece of crap! Rear brake pads needing to be replaced at 15K. Do I smell class action lawsuit? Numerus issues with the electric system to the point I have to pull over and restart the engine to get the errors to clear. Towing is a joke and using a bike rack is a headache due to the stupid emergency braking assistance that slams on the brakes when backing with any thing attached to the hitch. No easy button to disable it like in other vehicles capable of towing. Instead you have to work your way through a pain in the @ss menu to disable the feature but it resets once the engine is turned off. Stupidest engineering I have ever seen in a vehicle. Passenger seat is way to low and there is no way to raise it for shorter passengers. Just looked a 2024 and the passenger seat is still to low with no way to raise.
I’m here because my wife’s Pathfinder needs rear brakes at 35k miles. I saw your comment. When you put the car in reverse towing something just hit the ok button on the steering wheel and it will disable the backup alarms. I found this out after cussing out her car in a lowes parking lot with a trailer on the back lol.
I have had many similar issues. 3800 miles, engine light on, misfire codes. They "fixed" it but it came back at 4600 miles. Many problems with the screen going black, unresponsive, etc., and when I brjng it in they say, "we couldn't duplicate the problem, but we updated the software." Now the rear brake pads need replacing at 30k. Of course the dealer tried to tell me it needs rotors too, but it doesn't. They also tried to tell me the transmission fluid needs to be flushed/filled, and I asked if they found something wrong with it. They said no, just routine maintenance. They didn't expect me to know that Nissan recommends that service at 90k. Crappy tires too, will need replacement at 35k. When my extended warranty is done, this will be traded in. Great video, now I won't have to pay those crooks to do the job. Thank you.

Do you need to keep the pad plates from the old pads? Some videos showing that you need to keep the back plate from the OEM pads when you install new.

Can I use my 18 volt battery from my drill? In your video you used a 12-volt does it make a difference

I am at 15k and the dealer said my brakes AND ROTORS need to be replaced. This is ridiculous.

There was a little but definitely not enough. I’m seeing other pathfinder owners have to replace rear brakes around 20k.

That’s better than most that I’ve seen. Some people are at 15k replacing them.
Nissan made it proprietary so most folks can’t DYI it. That’s how they can charge $400 for a 15 to 20 min job.
Fuck nissan for that one seriously. Just get a Mazda where you can retract the parking break motor with a simple procedure.
