Wim Hof is the man! Hes a strong contender for the coolest person to ever live!
I am homeless, I live in my car. After losing my young mother suddenly to death, my husband leaving me unexpectedly, being forced to sell my home after divorce, losing a lucrative job I'd fought for, and losing my extended family who turned their backs on my children and I after my mother's death in 2023... I didn't care to live, but I couldn't take my life. I had no will to fight to live...I didn't care one way or another about life...as a matter of fact, I beckoned death...he didn't come for me. I packed my car and left the town that I grew up in and moved to Texas, where I drive Uber and live in my car and try my best to LIVE again. Up until now, I've only gone through the motions of life. Meaning, I feel nothing, not even pain, or the bad emotions. I just tried the thing where Wim said exhale and hold your breath, and from first try, my heart BEAT thunderously and I felt SHOCK. 2nd time my brain recalled all the trauma of last year in 2 seconds, and tears welled up in my eyes. 3rd time, I was balling, crying so deeply...like I've never cried before in my life...and now I FEEL EVERYTHING!! My mind seems UNBLOCKED!! I can THINK, FEEL,....EXIST RIGHT HERE WHERE MY FEET ARE. whereas before, life felt unreal...like I was gone...not here!.. I'm intrigued!! How can I do more with this?
You contain a strengh very few people have. Trauma in my experience makes you stronger, isolation was key. Love yourself 1st because you are worth it.

I was quite sick. I was on 19 tablets a day and I tried his methods read his book and I’m off all my medication now living a healthy life.

Winter is a season that often brings a deep sense of gratitude for its unique beauty and profound quietude. The cold, crisp air carries a refreshing clarity, and the blanket of snow that often covers the landscape transforms everything into a serene, white wonderland. This season encourages us to slow down, offering a time for reflection and introspection as the world outside rests. The warmth of a cozy home becomes more appreciated, and the joys of simple pleasures, like sipping hot cocoa by a crackling fire or watching snowflakes drift gently from the sky, feel even more special. Winter's chill fosters a closeness among loved ones, as we gather together for warmth and comfort. It’s a time that reminds us of the importance of rest and renewal, providing a natural pause that allows us to be thankful for the quiet moments and the gentle beauty of a world at peace.

This guy helped me to overcome my lifelong depression, in my 30s and finally feel free and alive. What a wonderful human!
thats awesome, im glad you are well ❤
Then it probably wasn’t depression.
@@Feignlander with respect, yes it was clinical depression, trauma from childhood and lifelong anxiety. Wims way of life gave me something, I can't explain it in words, but this, mixed with a few other things I was doing, made me want to change and stop waiting for change to happen for me. Me, powerful? I would have never said so, but heating Wim talk about how we all have a power within we've forgotten about, it helped. It wasn't easy at all and it's still an ongoing effort, but I can say I'm happy for the first time in my life and that's because I found my power and I put in the work I needed to, to change my life.

Wim Hof is amazing! For four years I am struggling with depression. I took cold showers for 3 months and my mind was better than ever. I took increasingly colder showers until it was only cold water, for 10 minutes every day. I started to automatically do breathing exercises because of the shock. The breathing exercises are the ones increasing the body temperature. It was amazing. I stopped because something personal happened and I didn't have the energy to take cold showers anymore. When I was taking them, my body temperature increased in anticipation of my cold showers, I know it may seem crazy, but I was yelling in the shower and I could feel my cortizol level decreasing (stress hormone). When I think now of my cold showers I remember how it would calm me greatly. Today I will start my cold showers again. Healing comes in cycles, it's ok to to have ups and downs. Thank you Wim Hof!
Just start ;)

For me a cold shower almost every morning (2 min)=
*No more joint pain,
*Happier mood,
*No more palpitations
*More present
*No more panic/anxiety
*No more flues in winter
*Much calmer mind

And so much energy, after that i feel so alive.
Amazing, I need this so much, but my mind rejects the idea of cold and discomfort- I am so weak 😩

Luckily, my spouse and I were able to pay off our mortgage early. We took the money we were spending to accelerate our mortgage repayment and invested it right away while we were both still working. We were able to retire early after accumulating what would have been our home payment for over 7 years and maxing out our 401K/403B plans. Thankfully, both of our parents taught in us the importance of living within our means.
Investing without proper guidance can lead to mistakes and losses. I know this since I've been there myself.Seeking guidance from a professional is preferable if you're new to investing or don't have much time.
Investors can have different investing results even with the best strategy and suitable assets. Understanding how experience plays a critical part in successful investing is key. Since I was aware of this, I consulted a market analyst for advice, which helped me build my account to about a million dollars. Having strategically cashed out just prior to the market correction, I'm now taking advantage of buying opportunities once more.
How can one find a verifiable financial planner? I would not mind looking up the professional that helped you. I will be retiring in two years and I might need some management on my much larger portfolio. Don't want to take any chances

Wim Hof is literally a blessing. I learnt about him in Dec 2023 and since then I've been religiously doing breath work. Started with 3x a day bt however my plan was to do it at least once a day. It's amazing how much relief you get within a few mins nd the anxiety which haunted you disappears instantly. I'll forever be grateful to the person who suggested him
"Im not really bound. Time is serving me, I am not serving time." Beautiful.
Up until 4 years ago I suffered from crippling anxiety every single day for 3 years. I came across wims video on RUclips and was desperate to stop these attacks I would of tried anything (which I did but nothing worked) I opened up to this. A video that said never get sick again. That day after the breathing exercises and cold water therapy I went from attacks every day to 1 or 2 a year and I can deal with them because of wims method. If you suffer, try it. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
That's fantastic. Kudos to you for not giving in and thanks for the inspiration.
Over 10 years ago I also had a long period of suffering from severe anxiety. Back then I didn't know about cold water therapy, but I did learn about breathing exercises and that alone helped me so much overcoming it. Since I recovered I've only had a very few panic attacks and every time I could control them through breathing.
That's very interesting... I have crippling social anxiety and all the fun stuff that comes with that.
Thanks for sharing ❤
@ExiLeZH what about all the others who are almost red lining
Listen to this man People. He will change your life! Has done it for me for sure!
The fact that you can HEAR him breathing, deeply and consistently, is a lesson in itself. I also thought, at the beginning of this episode, that he has A LOT of energy, especially for his age. It seems like he has more energy than I have had after exercise, food or a good night's rest...and I'm barely 30.
Worth listening to. Again, thanks for the value!

I found Wim Hof on a podcast during the pandemic and along with fasting, keto diet, breathing exercise, and cold therapy I've come off medication, lost 2 stone, improved my relationships with my family, friends and partner. Happy, Strong and Healthy.
I started cold showers in the winter when my Father was put into hospice.
I didnt want anything repressed. He meant more to me that i couldve ever imagined. i thought it was only right that i never short changed my emotions for him.
The cold and active breathing taught me to consciously confront all the feelings inside and out. I leaned into the cold and bathed in all emotions. I embraced it all while actively letting all the thoughts and feelings flow through me.
Although i know ill always miss him, it really helped me through each of those days all the way through to months afterwards.
Your cold plunging always in honor of you and your lineage in gratitude 😊
I Am very happy for You. listened to the podcast this morning and started the breathing best I could as I showered with cool water. I will work my way up to cold showers as I get better with the breathing. I wish you Peace.
I did Wim’s cold showers for a whole summer. Taking it bit by bit I went from hating cold water in the shower to singing soul songs to myself underneath the freezing water. I stopped counting the seconds and minutes and just got out when I was bored showering. I could never do them in the cold season though.

Wim's life journey left me breathless. The irony of art imitating life. Never cried on a podcast as i did here today. Thank you both for sharing your gifts with us. ❤
I do the 14 minute Wim Hof breathing exercises every other day then immediately hang in my inversion chair for 10 minutes - I can swim two laps underwater in a large pool and I'm 62 years old! It's a life changer, for sure!
Beware shallow water blackout
Wim is absolutely one of today’s true human super heroes! I’ve been doing morning cold showers since coming across his videos years ago and wanted to see if I could do for 2 weeks and that turned into the better part of 3 years
He did not "invent" these various types of breathing. If it helps someone feel good great. Don't forget he also advocates hyperventilating in water which has had lethal consequences. He's just a man and a flawed one at that. He shouldn't be viewed as a saint. He didn't go into the fact he walked away from all his young children to go live a selfish rouge existence when they had no mother.
I have never heard of Wim. I have dealt with chronic pain for 25 years, which resulted in sleep deprivation, weight gain from not moving dye to pain. My husband has lung and muscle weakness issues that are so scary. I am full of hope with Wim's methods, even in our golden years. I would love to look deeper into this. Thank you, Steven for sharing this. I recently learned about you from a presentation you did with Dean Graziosi. I am grateful for that too. 🌷
You will absolutely want to avoid these if you’re that old and in poor shape. Ice baths will only come with risks and complications for you.
I am a retired commercial diver who have used this breathing technic since my Mother taught me to calm myself down by taking 4 deep breaths which I taught my children. I do not take any pills at 60 years old I was taught this and enforced it on myself for decades thrugh swimming and diving and holding my breath which felt good and made me stronger and healthier.
THIS is the reason for social media. Content that truly matters. Thank you 🙏
Just woke up, sat down with my coffee, turned on the tv, and was excited to see you have Wim Hof on today. He’s amazing! Thank you. 🙏
Steve, listening to Wim about his beautiful wife who committed suicide, it dawned on me that she may have had severe post partum depression. This incident, his grief traumatised him to such an extent that he can withstand intense cold. I may be wrong but listen to the pain in his voice, it's real.
He said she had schizophrenia. She was a squatter when he met her. Many squatters (obviously not all) have severe mental illness and/or drug addiction. He said his wife had schizophrenia and bipolar, which today is called schizoaffective disorder. That combination of mental illnesses is very devastating with a high rate of suicide. Wim said she wanted to have another child but he told her she had to get mentally healthy first. A year later she committed suicide. Their youngest child was 7 years old at the time of her death. It wasn't postpartum depression in her case, although that can be a serious mental illness as well.
@@mygirldarbyhormonal issues in combination with autism in women are often misdiagnosed as bipolar and schizophrenia
Yes Wim said his wife was a squatter who developed schizophrenia and was Bipolar too. What is a squatter?

There are certain types of pain that are not ever fully gone from your psyche and soul. You learn ways to cope with and overcome the trauma, even turn some of it around and help others heal from their trauma or pain. In other words the parts of your experience that you learn to heal and live with in a healthy and productive way becomes part of who you are. Don’t try to get rid of the trauma or pain. Learn how you can heal from it and help others to find some inner peace. We are all different people and we all need unique paths to heal. You have to try things until you find what works for you
stop trying and start being again. less thought more presence, focus on your breath and realign your attention with here and now.

I love 'uncle Wim'. He is the absolute kindest and most well meaning person and he shares all this with anyone who wants to listen. Everyone needs to try it for at least a week.
Despite of all his Guinness world records, ability to change his immune system response through pranayama and cold immersions.. he is still caring a grief of the loss of his wife… that trauma is so deep in him that it makes me think he is blaming himself for losing her. All his achievements seems to be a way to either “punish” himself or distract through the process..Anyway, amazing interview @TheDiaryOfACEO as well as the one with Steve-O
Yes i agree that he still has grief regarding his wife. No one method has all the answers, but he is definitely correct about saying that human beings have a tremendous potential and we know nothing about it. We have the power through breathing to activate the parasympathetic system which relaxes and repairs. Also the awareness of the power of words is astonishing, every world resonates in the body and effects the biochemical mechanics of all the systems of the body. So we have to tap into this potential, I certainly have done it.
this channel is getting better and better! I love it.
I swear when I was doing the breathing I kept feeling like tearing up. Must be accessing those deeper feelings like he says
Oh definitely it’s insane what’s buried in the body if you do t feel you won’t heal and it will raise itself in another way physically or mentally.
It is somewhat similar to taking magic truffles for example that changes neurochemistry in a similar way. It temporarily inhibits the prefrontal cortex which usually guards our "scary" emotions firmly. When we don't have that for a moment, we regain access to it.

Deep breathing and counting through contractions knowing they will end after I reach 100 so every digit brings you closer to the end of the pain... mind over matter and knowing you are a part of nature and participating in the natural process via your amazing human body! Its so simple but you have to stay present with yourself.
me too !! 5 times
Thank you Diary Of a CEO for bringing Wim to the channel ! He is a most when it comes to wellness and his message must be heard.
Thank you for honoring your promise.
Videos like this are why I keep opening RUclips every single day!!! When your favourite RUclipsrs interview your favourite people, what a great feeling!
To me this man is "Ome Wim!" (Uncle Wim)
I've never met him. I'm gratefull that you have had him on your show.
Greetings from Curaçao.
Wow! The breathing technique was absolutely incredible. Never done it before and I was very sceptical, but my God did I feel so peaceful. Thank you Wim and thank you Steven for a great interview.
I love his energy. I’ve been debating trying psychiatry again for depression after grieving my father. This is so empowering and the way you just give and present this to us in an attainable way is so amazing thank you!
Of all people Wim is the one who really deserves to be heard! Thank you! Also 6 minutes in the ice bath for the first time is CRAZY!💪
As a fellow Dutchie, I'm proud of Wim and I would love to follow his way of living.
This is probably one of the best DOAC podcast, but it looks like it may fly over a lot of people's heads ... Thank you Steven for having such an Open mind that allow ours to open up as well ...
Was thinking about that just now as I was trying to explain to a family member.
I couldn’t have said it better
My late father would always do a few of those super deep breaths whenever he felt stressed, he can't have heard of Wim Hof's method, he didn't use much technology, didn't even have a phone. In hindsight, he might have used a similar way of breathing without ever learnig about it.
MY FAVOURITE EPISODE SO FAR, WELL DONE STEVEN.
I love this man...thanks for inviting him around your table...🙏🏻
I was introduced to Wim Hof method at a course I was doing at St. Gallens; now listening to Wim I am moved and have new respect for him; thanks for this episode
I’ve been doing Wim Hoff for two years now. Changed my life. I would cry if I even thought I’d be somewhere cold. Now I don’t fear it, I am, at least in that respect, a totally changed person. Wim has had some bad press lately (some foundation to it too it seems) but it’s worth noting he really has changed many lives for the better. His breathing technique calms me down every morning.
What was the bad press about?
@@ErumyrPeople blaming his methods for family members dying.
Which is absurd. He's telling normal, healthy people to do this.
A 60 year old man with stents, after 2 heart attacks, should not go in an ice bath (just a made up example). I have brittle bones and metalwork in 5 parts of my body, I probably shouldn't either. You also shouldn't be in there for more than 5 minutes or so.
Common sense is not common.
@@Erumyrno bad press. Only idiots who commit suicide and family members blaim the world
@@Christoff8188 its manufactured bad press. crazy & stupid people only. No real arguments were put forward. The same people are against the use of science, cars and medicine because all these 3 things could and did kill people in the past,.. CRAZY arguments
Was that man part of the world experiment?
Out of all the videos I've watched, I feel like this interview with Wim has been the most profound and deep rooted change I felt to act on...thanks for all you do Diary of a CEO team!
Wim Hoff changed my life, I had severe stress and couldn‘t fell my body because of fear, now I can feel again! I feel like my mind is clearer than ever before. And I have control over my cravings !
The best interview I've seen with Wim being really open and even a bit vulnerable in all his strength.
Oh, Wim ! Always puts a smile on my face. Cold baths and breathing exercises helped me to get off steroids for my chronic bronchitis. Thank you Wim!
Thank you sharing. I suffer from chronic ashtma and on daily steroids. Will try it. Thank you
@@debsbenjamin4629do you think it will work for arthritis
I think this is MY FAVORITE episode! THANK YOU! ❤❤❤
0:17 Just for the Protocol: That is the Kilimanjaro in Tanzania and NOT the Everest. He also did not run up in underwear but just put it one for a picture on the top. And just for the facts. I was there with him. His guide John is a good friend!
Steven, I'm so incredibly grateful for the work you're doing. A massive thank you for the guests, the topics and your approach. I 'm so grateful and proud of you.
Thank you Wim for sharing the knowledge with enthusiasm, acknowledging people in pain and children dying
Loved listening to both of you. Thanks for this interview.
Wim's passion and energy for change and healing naturally is so inspiring, I feel like I'm ready for cold exposure and to follow his message
Wim's breathing exercise is the best method that's helped me and saved me from chronic panic attacks, can't recommend enough!
Ohhhh so nice to see the one and only Wim Hof popping up again. 😮
His charisma is more captivating that the breathing method itself. ❤
this is the best interview ever
I didn't relize it was almost 2 hours untill it ended and asked why is it too short , speaking from the heart, mind and soul to the heart, mind, and soul of the listeners
I know you speak about your insecurities and fears sometimes Stephen but it all just seemed like hidden stuff, buried away, that you were talking about. Seeing how awkward you felt not being behind that desk is comforting and has increased my respect and feeling of connection.
Keep on with the great content bro! And thank you.
Wim is so incredibly intense. His message and method is very interesting.
And to add to my comment above. Thankyou so much for this podcast, giving a greater and deeper understanding of Wim and his method. I really enjoyed this episode, the insights and the realisation of the possibilities for me as a human.
The intensity comes from mastery of trauma over many years. Youth would be wise to learn from thier elders.
I’ve seen Wim before! But, that opener! You’re doing things nobody has done- you’re doing the plunge in ice! Amazing!!
"They suddenly feel power!!! Sorry that I'm yelling." I love his genuine enthusiasm.
Wim is a gift to humanity. ❤
