Thanks for making this video ! It was a great guide to help me knock this out on my 2005 Deville. After doing this repair here are some lessons I learned the hard way. 1. Disconnect the sway bar. This will give you significantly more room to swing a wrench. I used an 18 mm or 3/4 inch open-ended wrench on the bottom side. top pump side takes 5/8. 2. It is much easier when you have someone from the top side pulling on the hose after its disconnected. If you can feed the hose from the bottom side and have someone pull on the top side much easier. Conversely it's also much easier to feed the top side with some help while pulling from the bottom. 3. 2005 model year the only nut connecting the hose to the engine. It's just a body pannel clip that connects the hose to the support rail.
I have a 2002 Cadillac. I followed this video to a T and got it! It took me a while because I had to pause and do whatever it was that I was doing. But I got it! Thank you!
Just replaced mine today. Thanks for giving great detail for the job. I have to say the hardest part for me was fishing the hose back into place. it was nerve racking but at the end I won.
Thank you very much! I did my 2003 Deville today. I really appreciate your video! Here are some tips for others: I ordered the hose from Amazon for $54 or so. To remove the lower fitting I inserted the wrench from the wheel-well side and alternately from directly underneath but could only manage partial turns but was able to get it by constantly flipping the wrench. The hardest part for me was getting the old one out--I had to get my wife to help from up top while I fished the lower end out. I was tempted to cut it but I wanted to figure it out so that putting the new one in might be easier. I don't know if I just got lucky but the new one slid right in. I had the new one in my hand as I fished out the last bit of the end so I'd be sure to put it in the exact same spot I installed the lower fitting first--I had a hard time getting it started because there wasn't much room for my fingers and it took me a long time to get it. I was very careful because I didn't want to cross thread it. Oh, by the way, the '03 had a plastic push-thing (like the water reservoir) rather than a 10mm nut. Anyway, I hope some of this helps!
I agree that getting the old hose out was difficult. It would just not pull up and out without getting stuck. I ended up cutting the hose on the pump side and was then able to pull the remainder out through the bottom. The new hose was just slightly different in how the metal portion was bent. This made the new hose slip down into place very easily.
Enjoy watching your vids. More fun than going thru the shop manual. I procrastinate doing repairs because I complain about not having a garage to work in but that doesn't stop you any! Thanks from Hawaii.
Great video. Thank you for making it. You made it very simple for me. I thought it was going to be a horrible job since the engine is so large and hardly any room.
Part's gonna cost me 72.99. Shitty repair shop tried to rob me for 129.99, and 130 in labor. You just saved me $150!!! And I'm most definitely sure I can get this done in an hour or less. THANKS MUCH!!!!!
I have a leaking hose, just found it, on my 2003 DHS (even the same color as this car). PERFECT video, I'm so thankful you posted this. And, you explain everything very clearly. Fantastic help. Thanks again!
thanks for this....I'm doing this job 2morrow and with these engines being so tight I thought I had to drop the cradle, but you showed the easy way. great job
Excellent video. There is almost no room to get to the lower connector. It may help to unbolt the left side of the anti-sway bar to access. I got the hose at Autozone and they also had one wrench that had both the 18mm and 16mm flare nut for about $9. Do not try this with a conventional open end wrench. Use PB Blaster on both flare nuts before removal. Because of lack of clearance on the lower connector, a wrench would only move 1/8 of a turn, so I used a 3/4" open end wrench and flipped it over and over until it started to snug down, then I got on it with the flare nut wrench to snug it down. Good luck to all.
thanks for the video i got a 2002 sts and i can tell you this was no fun at all the hardest part was getting the line out and getting the new line started into the rack i needed a friend to help hold the line to get the nut started on the rack and i didnt use the old brackets to hold the line in place insted i used zip ties hope that wont be a problem took about 3 hours to do and that was with about 4 cigarette breaks lol thanks again
Hi I have a 2004 cadillac deville but I'm not sure how to order the house so I can get the same as the original how can I found that part number, thank you and good vid
I was able to do this but the new pressure hose I bought didn't come with the retainers to bolt it down so I just installed it like that. But the steering pump is still making a loud groaning noise and it's foaming, does that mean the pump is bad or should I try bleeding it? Thanks in advance
My 08 DTS had a 13 mm nut holding a clamp instead of a 10 and there was only a plastic clip holding the clamp at the bottom by the rack. Used a 5/8" on the top fastener of the hose and an 18mm on the bottom. The hardest part of the whole job was fishing the hose out and the new one back in. To get the old out I had to bend it a little to get it out. The old was fished through several wires so you will have to be careful there. The hose routing was slightly different than this video showed. I wanted to make a video but I'm usually cussing like a sailor so I didn't. LOL
Thanks so much for sharing this video! Replaced the hose in my 2003 Deville without trouble! Hardest part for me was fishin that booger out! Thanks again!!
is there a video on how to refill and bleed the power steering system ? we just bought a caddy and it leaks (squirts) power steering fluid badly. what causes this anyways ? thanks. like this video.
I have one question for you how do you remove the air out of the power steering my issue is the car turns right with no problem when I'm turning left is hard and when I notice that I didn't have any power steering fluid at one point or very little but I did ask him and then by that time my neighbor told me that I had air in my mine so I'm trying to see how to get it out if you can help with that that would be excellent Love You video by the way
I took the same hose off, I purchased a new one and not Im not sure in the hose coming down from the p/s reservoir goes under the rack or over, the video doesnot show it.
Check the crank sensors and the wiring, make sure its plugged in proper and no wires have been rubbed or comming out. Its a common problem on those, may even be a faulty sensor, cam/crank.
thanks for the vid,..mines leaking in the same area,.........not a bad motor, just have to baby them over 120k................plastic intake manifold loosens up and creates code problems f.y.i., thanks again, Dan
I have a 02 Seville every thing the same under the hood drives fine but around corners or very slow around corners or turning my power steering creaks very faint sound I was just gonna replace the pump because it also whenever you turn it all the way it feels weird I got the pump and hose but will this fix it or am I just feeding money into the car and waiting it
thanks for response but i cant seem to figure out how to send personal messages through the youtube channels. could u pls send me the exact instructions, i read topic under help but couldnt find it on page. ty
Are you ready for this? ........ My 99 deville oil pan gasket needs to replaced....... Yeh ! I know these North star engines are a pain in he Butt ! also I have a P1350 & P1375 code. 2001 deville DHS I have p0410 secondary air injection pump malfunction. I changed the IAC before pump went out but the idles high then drops below 500 also idles up and down at times . I want to replace the spark plugs

After I did what you said in the video and got it put in my 03 deville, it took 4 quart of power steering fluid and I wasn’t seeing any leaks but the power steering still does not work. I am completely stumped, I really need some guidance!?!?
Absolute slapper of a video, plain and simple, thank you so so much

Excellent Video. Completed the job this morning in about an hour on Wheel Ramps. Biggest pain in the ass was getting bottom bolt started.
Have a leak in my 03 deville I'm praying it's in that line that your vid was so clear on so I'll check tomorrow and keep you posted, thanks again

Check the crank sensors and the wiring, make sure its plugged in proper and no wires have been rubbed or comming out. Its a common problem on those, may even be a faulty sensor, cam/crank.
Awesome video. I have to do this on my 99 Concours, so hopefully it's similar.
