I thought I would get this video out as quickly as possible to give you my first impressions of the 2023 Asus Zephyrus G14 and whether or not I realistically could switch to using this on a daily basis (not just for Gaming)

Great video. No, the Asus G14 supports more than 1 TB, that is just the top storage spec you can get from Asus.

@@CharlieDrives G14 has NVMe SSD slot and even something like 4Tb and more would work as part of spec.

Yes, I have a 2tb ssd and it works without issues
I would be pissed if I paid 3k for a mac and apple would turn around and refuse to service it if it weren't my fault that their hardware failed.
Hello, nice video! I 've been searching for the 2023 version for a while now. If you don't mind me noticing some key points, from a perspective of future buyer: 1) Assuming it was an amazon listing that you bought this, check again for the product number - you should have the GA402XV-NC012 with the r9-7940hs one the zen4 that is // It's the only one with the 512gb m.2 and the single zone lighting. 2) Use the armoury crate to tweak some options. After a lot of videos and online reading it's safe to say the performance config is the ideal one. 3) Could you please confirm point #1 as I was ready to order one? Thank you for your time.
Great video. I think I’m getting the ROG G14 2022 version because it’s cheaper and checks all of the specs I wanted over M2/M3 MBA.

Make sure you have the Zen4 AMD model! AMD 7x4x CPUs
It means only the Ryzen 9 am I right? Not 7.

I also do Web development (but so far as a developer and not a leader) and I would like to hear if you could work for g14 or still a macbook is a cut above it. so I look forward to continuing the comparison 🙂

Use the eco mode for the GPU on the Armoury Crate for the battery test.
The integrated GPU should match the Macbook Pro's performance.
how about the screen of G14 compared with Mac?
Great video! Any way you could do a gaming performance video showing fps numbers? Stuff like red dead or elden ring or cyberpunk. You are the only video this model so far on the internet! And maybe try uncapped fps to show full performance. Great review though!
Buy yourself a seperate microphone, it would improve your sound quality like a lot. I suggess Shure MV7 or higher tier SM7B. Nice content but the sound is lack of clearance

I'm considering this laptop or the Strix G16 or Predator Helios 16. They are my targets. However still in a dilemma I can't choose

For the video dedicated on gaming and battery life, if it's possible, could you try undervolting the gpu and cpu? It will give better temperatures, performance too (if it was thermal throttling) and better battery life since it consumes less overall.
Although i don't know if it is possible to change the voltage in AMD CPUs
They have an app installed on the main software that you can tweak performance, cpu, vent speed ... Etc...

normally the g14 can go into iGPU mode + 60Hz mode when unplugged if you tweak a couple settings
There's a great channel called GizmoSlip Tech that does really in depth reviews including undervolting the CPU and overclocking the GPU. He's got the Zephyrus G14 on the way and will be reviewing it soon so keep an eye out for that vid :)
can you test it with the tool called latencymon, it checks how efficient all the drivers are working together. Kind of the reason that myself I have always bought macbooks. Working with sound they always have very little system latency. On windows laptops this is much more hit and miss.
Getting battery life on a windows device to be like a mac will be very difficult windows cannot adjust for every configuration where as apple has x amount of configs per gen and can hyper optimize with their own software, you can probably get it to be around 8 ish hours by adjusting settings the g14 s t i l l isnt out here in america and hearing you mention the fact that the cheapest machbook you can get is over 2k pounds put in perspective how much more expensive pal pricing is the air here you can get for 999 usd and the 13 inch macbook pro you can get for 1299 usd top end zephyrus pro duo with a 4090 and 2 screens is 3999 usd, great job on one of your first couple videos about tech youll get better as you go on with making more reviews! (also theres no reviewers in america with this product still the only time people got to test it was at a convention here)
It'll take any single sided NVME SSD .. current max AFAIK is 2Tb .. Samsung 980 and 990 pro are single sided at that capacity. The network card lives under the SSD, hence the single layer limitation. RB14 is the same IIRC. I have a 2Tb in my 2022 G14, exactly the same in that respect.
Hey, I'm about to get the same model. How hot does it get? I've heard horror stories about heating issues on previous G14 models.
Its really not too bad! I'm going to do a full gaming test in the next few days so stay tuned. Then the next video will be my overall impressions after living with the laptop for a while. What will you be using it for?
@@CharlieDrives I’ll be using it for light gaming such as CSGO, Valorant and general engineering coursework software like CAD, Blender, some circuit design software (conveniently things which the apple silicon Macs cannot do well, otherwise I would have gotten it).
I have a friend who has a 2020 G14 (I think GTX1650ti model) that goes up to 90 degrees just by playing counter strike, so I really appreciate your response.
Hey there! I downloaded cyberpunk last night and played it for a few hours. Laptop got hot but it wasn’t ridiculous. You probably wouldn’t want to have it on your lap, it was fine on the desk. If you put it in turbo it drops 10degrees or so but you have to put up with the louder fans!

@@CharlieDrives well... I actually meant the main screen... I'm REALLY interested in this model G14 2023 cause it's supposed to have Mini Led Screen... At almost 3K resolution.... But I read it only goes up to 600 nitz?... Witch is a little weird, cause all other mini led screens that I know, and the one I have own on mi iPad pro 12.9 M1, it went up to 1000+ nitz.... So... I wanted to hear your testimony regarding the screen and it resolution and brightness... It's this the animatrix model as well ? Thanks for responding.... 👍
@@m2n900 By memory its 600nit max brightness and 500 dimming zones which is pretty good considering the size of the display.

Asus pairs the 4080 and 4090 with the mini-led.

Although I'm starting to identify some little annoying things (again I'm wondering if this will be common across many PC laptops) but we will see. Need more time with it to completely be sure. 😃

If this machine could have 64gb of ram it would be my number one laptop of 2023😢
You can install a 48 GB stick and 16 (soldered) + 48 would make it 64 GB.
