The split score you both have perfectly encapsulates the debate surrounding this album, and the mixed opinions I have seen on RUclips. I like metal as well as wierd music. If a album gets a "wtf" reaction it usually grows on me to be good. I really like it and I am not really av7x fan. There are so many wierd influences, like Beautiful morning they go from AIC harmonies to Warrel Dane type Nevermore singing. Game over you get some Mike Patton Faith no more vibes after that fast singing. It is a interesting album and the most interesting fresh sounding album I have heard in awhile
In total agreement with TVfish on this one. I loved it from start to finish. This was actually the first A7X album I have fully listened to. So I went back and listened to some previous albums. I never realized they had so many great tunes. Wasn't a fan of the first album though. And yes, Nobody is a great dog walking song. Also too, I am listening to a lot of heavier stuff lately, death, black etc so this was a nice break. I am 53, don't want my brain pummelled all the time..
I was skeptical about when I heard the first single but after listening to the album I completely love it, to the point I added it to my "Album of the year" playlist. Amazing album imo
Cosmic really has a way of using its concept to its absolute benefit. You have those larger than life sounds, spacey tones, sad melodies leading to a beautiful bittersweet climax, all while the lyrical theme is so human. In general, I loved how the music framed these so ordinary, human thoughts in such a diverse, over the top manner
This album has hard progressive vibes mixed with all kinds of different genres and I love it. Is it beyond weird? Absolutely! It’s not for everyone and that’s okay, I don’t think it was meant for the masses lol I think this record was for the band by the band you know? They put out what they wanted instead of what they thought would please everyone. All of that being said, Mattel, Nobody, and (D)eath are easily my favorite songs on this record with (O)rdinary, Easier, and Beautiful Morning slowly getting there as well. I’m going to see them on their tour in September and I’m excited to hear some of these songs live.
Nobody is the best song from this album, it's like a Rock opera. The build-up, the structure, and the execution are very mature and nothing cliché. Nobody is almost a doom metal song, which is a fairy popular genre in Europe.
Damn I was the one that mentioned Cosmic haha. I am surprised that you didn't like it, but I see what you mean. It could have definetely been more epic and had a bigger climax. I still think it's the best song on the album and a beautiful one despite it's flaws.
I definitely agree with my man Sammi Zayne. Whatever Toe Tag means lol. Guessing a 10. But no I probably give it a 9/10. Told myself I wouldn't judge this album till I listened to it 5 times. I knew from M Shadows interviews what this album was going to be like. Plus I can't get into almost any song till 2 or 4, maybe even 4 listens. And listening on my sound bar instead of my over ear headphones at work, epic game changer. So I went from hating it. I was super sure it would not grow on me. Second listen, not much better. I was pissed last song was just piano. Wasted a track with only 11. Plus some short songs. Third time I started liking more songs. First half mainly. Fourth time I started to like the second half more. Fifth time I ended up realizing how well the track placement was. And even realized I liked the last track. It was like Death part 2 for me and Death was Ordinary part 2. They just flow so well together. Also now love every song. But it's leaving me wanting a bit more. So 9/10 instead of 10/10. City of Evil and Waken the Fallen are 10/10. I would put this along with Diamonds in the Rough as it was unique, but only like 9 tracks I think. Probably same length. Maybe that was still longer cause back then they loved long songs
@PrblyCheating cause it's completely different... I was getting tired of the same ole thing! I hate when bands put out the same ole shit over and over it gets stale and that's when you "flip through your cd's" cause you don't know what to listen too
@PrblyCheating that's also why I love Tallah it doesn't sound like anything else! If I want to listen to Waking the Fallen ill listen to Waking the Fallen I don't want Life is but a Dream to sound like Waking the Fallen or any of there albums
@PrblyCheating For me I've always loved Mr. Bungle, Zappa, the last Daft Punk album, and prog rock and metal in general. Combine that with Avenged and you have a winner.
I respect everyone's opinion, however this is my take on this. If you are not a fan of the band, you don't already have a general idea of their discography and you listen to this album looking for standalone "bangers" that will make the playlist, you may be disappointed. I think that this album has to be listened to in its entirety for it to convey what it tries to, which is an out of body experience for the listener. This album literally felt (to me) like my soul went through all the stages of life and transcended into afterlife, it felt unsettling, awful and beautiful at the same time. Anyway, that's my take, thanks for the video :)
That whole "gif" and "g" section of the video really felt like a "hits blunt" kind of humor, lol. And as a Christian, I'd find it hilarious if God came down and He said "Jod" not God. Ooof.
I liked it but I think they could've done better. Definitely not an easy to understand for first listen. Well its experimental so its acceptable This album definitely should be the last album to hear if you want to explore a7x. Or... The very first so you dont have any expectations, and then go backwards from that
Genuinely can't see how anyone who's into metal can rate this the same as the Sleep Token pop mess that was also released recently. Certainly interesting, but to each their own I suppose.

I really appreciate how different your opinions are. It helps me to understand the music better and I end having a less biased listening experience.

I love this album. I'll always love A7X. 🤘😈🔥
I love this album, album of the year contender for me.

This is definitely my favorite album since the white album. Not really my thing but I can appreciate this one
Honestly, this album super surprised me and after a few times listening to it, I fell in love. Just great groves and filled with emotion.

Love this album... such a trip. A7X never disappoints me.

A Toe Tag is a score of 8 or higher.
Album for the Year for me

@Baba Yaga dude the song easier sounds just like Faith No More which o love!
@PrblyCheating Whats yours?
this and the new sleep token are my two fav albums of the year
That G joke made me instantly like the video 😂
For me this one went from "meh" to great!! What a trip! what a journey!

Just absolutely fantastic, completely agree with dude on the left.
Its a wild ride, but the payoffs are undeniable.
That whole "gif" and "g" section of the video really felt like a "hits blunt" kind of humor, lol. And as a Christian, I'd find it hilarious if God came down and He said "Jod" not God. Ooof.
10/10 easy toe tag and AOTY candidate for me
I liked it but I think they could've done better. Definitely not an easy to understand for first listen. Well its experimental so its acceptable

I didn’t like it, this album is Avenged Sevenfold’s St. Anger. So I will be back to hear Waking the Fallen. 3.5/10
No audio
Working for everyone else
You’re a metalhead and you don’t know Nightmare or Hail to the King? Damn
I really didnt like this album. The vocals kill it for me.
Luv cosmic
