Please note that I’m a folk musician and fiddler, and I don’t consider myself a classical violinist. In my experience of the folk tradition, techniques tend to be somewhat informal, variable, and flexible, so take what I say with a grain of salt :) My thoughts on fiddling are based on my own personal musical experience. If you’re looking for more formal violin technique and instruction, there are other resources out there that are geared towards that!
These videos are not intended as a substitute for the advice of a medical professional (when it comes to any thoughts on techniques such as posture, hand placement, etc).
    Happy fiddling, friends!

Thank-you, thank-you, Thank-you!!! Sooo much!!! And I love you❤! Sorry, couldn’t help it. (Sue me!!😂). Ha ha! Liz...I want to THANK YOU!!!! So ❤️ much for your inspirational videos! After 2 years of self teaching, I wiped out on my motorcycle and broke my wrist...Our worst nightmare!!! I lost my band, which was doing the Highland Games circuit in the Pacific Northwest...and 15+ years of music just crashed around me. I thought I would never play my Irish Flute, whistle, bodhran or fiddle ever again....😭 I moved xcountry, and used music as my physical therapy...and by design, now solo...have taught myself guitar; with my fiddle being played only 1-2 hrs a week, I focused on guitar, and vocals- securing pubs, cafes and brewery gigs...You know the ones...lol. NOW? I'm re-energized with these new tunes, and your wonderful personality! I'm BACK, and better than ever! THANK YOU SO MUCH!! 🥰🥰🥰 You're wonderful!
God Bless. Have a wonderful Easter! 😊

Superb, lilting rendering with lovely ornamentation in the main tune and very enjoyable natural variations,in the true folk tradition, thanks. And hearing it taught well really helps. Plus great well interpreted material on the rest of the channel.

I'm getting my first violin on saturday and I'm so happy to learn something new! I was getting scares of the classical violin pieces and want to learn somewhere inbetween, some classical some happy, easy going music etc. This sounds so perfect and I'm excited to to learn it one day, once I master some easier stuff 😊

@@jack002tuber Liz, I will be 80 in a year, not as old as your absolutely beautiful JACQUES BOCQUAY violin! You make it French maker PROUD. Your style of instruction is exquisite! I'm still trying to learn how to play this instrument, started in 1953 on a 3/4 size. I mainly play hymns now. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for this Liz, great tune and a relaxed lesson! A question if I may, what strings do you use and what is your action setting - typical classical (4-5.5) or lower?
