My Husband worked fifty years and payed taxes and when he needed help we couldn't get any. We appiled for food stamps when he got sick we only qualified for 10 dollars a month after all the taxes he paid in.What a slap in the face.He is gone now bless his heart,he don't have to see what a world we live in now. I am an immigrant here! But I came here legally! On my port of entry, I have with me the required documents such as a chest X-ray plate ; a medical certificate of good health; a National police clearance, a college diploma and a full school transcript from high school through college, passport, and a small sum of US dollars. I was also interviewed to make sure I understand, read , and write English!! How come the criminals amongst the migrants are crossing our borders without any identification and health checks??? What’s the the the right way? I have family trying to come to the US the waiting period is 30 years for an interview to start the process. Then if approved you can begin the process for residency. By the time you get an interview you are already retirement age.

I'm originally from NY currently living in Texas since 2006. Texas has been dealing with this "crisis" for as long as I have been here, at least. After Biden took office, everything went to hell in a handbasket. Texas has been trying to keep te borders secured which is any countries right! Every country has a process for people to seek asylum or to just move to. Hell, if I want to move to Greece, I have to jump through hoops to do it. Why shouldn't others have to do the same? My parents came to the US back in the 60s LEGALLY!!! They both came with temporary work visas. As a matter of fact, my father was denied 3 times but my mother was granted a work visa the first time she applied. She stayed here ALONE for 1 year working and PAYING taxes before my dad was finally issued a visa. People need to go through the correct process to be vetted to make sure they are not criminals, God knows we already have enough criminals already. They need to be willing to work and help contribute to the taxes that are sheltering them! So the lady with the 3-month old, I'm sure she's not going to work since she has such a young baby. Funny thing is though, when I had my son I started out living in a shelter for victims of domestic violence in the Bronx. I was treated like GARBAGE by the workers in the shelter system and had to grovel for things. I only received $70 in food stamps a MONTH with a new born who was on formula! How do you sustain yourself and a newborn on $70/mo? I'm sure these "asylum seekers" aren't getting just $70/mo. My heart goes out to you in NY still having to foot this bill. No other countries open their borders like this. Most have some kind of border protecting their country. I went from May until the end of last year with no medical benefits. I didn't qualify for any. I lost my job of over 40 years and did get unemployment either because the unemployment system retired my application out of their system two times. Unemployment finally called me back four months later. It took them another 2 weeks to get it fixed by this time I had no income coming in so I got denied. I appealed the decision but they still denied me benefits. How can the American tax payer not be upset by this. I worked since I was 14 and when I needed the benefits I worked for I got denied

I have a cousin that got here in 2021 she gave birth to a child who is one year old she is already pregnant with a second child my mom offered her a Job at her swapmeet business my cousin said she didnt need to work she got free housing and she gets around 1000 plus a month with food stamps and Cash her and her boyfriend are playing the system she says she is a single mother with no help mean while her husband is working a under the table Job sending all the money he makes to his mom for her to put it in a Savings account he got in méxico 🇲🇽 some people really just come here to live off the goverment

Why not give them equal treatment with three meals a day and a comfortable bed in a nice hotel room? From what I'm seeing here there's no lack of available resources to go around. Our own veterans are living in squalor under bridges and in alleyways without proper clothing to proect them from the weather when they laid their own lives down to protect our country. i lived in a border area some years ago... they would walk all over my small property, throw trash everywhere, strip my fruit trees, throw rocks at my dog... things would go missing... they'd gather anywhere without care... came home once to about 15 migrants squatting around a meal just yards from my front door... it was terrible...

During the Battle of Dunkirk from May 26 to June 4, 1940, some 338,000 British Expeditionary Force (BEF) and other Allied troops were evacuated from Dunkirk to England as German forces closed in on them. The massive operation, involving hundreds of naval and civilian vessels, became known as the “Miracle of Dunkirk” and served as a turning point for the Allied war effort. On the evening of May 26, the British began the evacuation from Dunkirk, using the codename Operation Dynamo. Vice Admiral Bertram Ramsay directed the efforts, leading a team working out of a room deep inside the Dover cliffs that had once contained a generator known as a dynamo (giving the operation its name). The Luftwaffe’s relentless bombing attacks on the harbor slowed the evacuation process, even as Royal Air Force (RAF) planes tried to delay or stop the German planes from reaching the beaches, losing many aircraft in the process. Dunkirk Evacuation On the first full day, Operation Dynamo was only able to evacuate about 7,500 men from Dunkirk; around 10,000 got out the following day (May 28). As Dunkirk had such a shallow beach, Royal Navy vessels couldn’t reach it, and the Allies put out a call for smaller ships to carry troops from the shore to the larger ships further out in the North Sea. To use New Yorkers’ tax money to fund these humanitarian operations is not efficient nor fair. First, everyone can claim he or she is asylum seeker. Why not? To get free money, free shelter, free food and clothing… US is a heaven to them. On the other hand, I see many people are struggling. I see not enough mental health facilities or shelters to shelter mentally ill people. Why? Not enough money. Ironic, right? Second, it’s not fair to other immigrants. If everyone should be treated equally under the law, then it’s not equal for other immigrants who must pay hundreds of thousands of dollars and have to have sufficient means to support themselves in order to come and stay in the US. We should just abolish visa systems and let everybody come like asylees. I see no justification for this different treatment. Immigrants are equal, no matter for what reasons they give up their home countries. Anybody can say he or she doesn’t want to go back. Why one’s reason is better than others? a big loophole at best and anybody can take advantage of it.

It doesn't just fall on the NYC taxpayers, as they indicated. Funding and grants are given by the federal government for asylum services. The burden fall on each of us here in the U.S., whether you live in a city that hosts migrants or not. Our taxes are through the roof because of this, and our taxes will keep going up, along with prices for a lot of things, as the need for money for these millions of people will get tucked into our everyday purchases. The cost of gas is now going up, so I suspect the taxes you and I pay for this will in part go to the migrants. The cost of air fares and other services will go up again. Prices cannot come down, because the cost of this influx of migrants will be eating up every dime we don't send to Ukraine.
another aspect to consider: in 2020 alone, when our economy was completely shut down, Mexicans residing in the US sent $40 billion in remittances back to Mexico... $40 billion in remittances!... that is $40 billion that did NOT circulate in our economy at a time when our government was sending out stimulus checks to keep this country going... that $40 billion is equivalent to like a third of the Mexican government's annual budget... its like they export migrants and import remittances... i personally think we should be able to heavily tax those remittances... in some cases, confiscate it... regardless, we just cannot sustain the unrelenting volume of illegal immigrants without becoming a sub-third world country ourselves... housing, for instance... has anyone seen Mexico City?... My Husband worked fifty years and payed taxes and when he needed help we couldn't get any. We appiled for food stamps when he got sick we only qualified for 10 dollars a month after all the taxes he paid in.What a slap in the face.He is gone now bless his heart,he don't have to see what a world we live in now. I'm originally from NY currently living in Texas since 2006. Texas has been dealing with this "crisis" for as long as I have been here, at least. After Biden took office, everything went to hell in a handbasket. Texas has been trying to keep te borders secured which is any countries right! Every country has a process for people to seek asylum or to just move to. Hell, if I want to move to Greece, I have to jump through hoops to do it. Why shouldn't others have to do the same? My parents came to the US back in the 60s LEGALLY!!! They both came with temporary work visas. As a matter of fact, my father was denied 3 times but my mother was granted a work visa the first time she applied. She stayed here ALONE for 1 year working and PAYING taxes before my dad was finally issued a visa. People need to go through the correct process to be vetted to make sure they are not criminals, God knows we already have enough criminals already. They need to be willing to work and help contribute to the taxes that are sheltering them! So the lady with the 3-month old, I'm sure she's not going to work since she has such a young baby. Funny thing is though, when I had my son I started out living in a shelter for victims of domestic violence in the Bronx. I was treated like GARBAGE by the workers in the shelter system and had to grovel for things. I only received $70 in food stamps a MONTH with a new born who was on formula! How do you sustain yourself and a newborn on $70/mo? I'm sure these "asylum seekers" aren't getting just $70/mo. My heart goes out to you in NY still having to foot this bill. Welcome to how Texas has been feeling for the longest time and most of the country shook their fingers at Texas for wanting to keep the boarders closed and shipping them off to other cities! The increase in the illegal alien population under President Biden is based on a sample that only tracks household addresses on file with the government. The full number is impossible to quantify but likely even higher.
These 16.8 million illegal aliens now represent nearly one-third of the foreign-born residents of the United States.
The additional $12.6 billion in costs annually is only a down payment. These costs are likely to grow as the migrants become more settled and increase their use of services like public education and health. Moreover, parolees are immediately eligible for a range of welfare benefits.
At the current pace of illegal immigration, more new illegal aliens will have settled in the U.S. in the first three years of the Biden administration than in the entire decade of the 2010s.

No other countries open their borders like this. Most have some kind of border protecting their country. I went from May until the end of last year with no medical benefits. I didn't qualify for any. I lost my job of over 40 years and did get unemployment either because the unemployment system retired my application out of their system two times. Unemployment finally called me back four months later. It took them another 2 weeks to get it fixed by this time I had no income coming in so I got denied. I appealed the decision but they still denied me benefits. How can the American tax payer not be upset by this. I worked since I was 14 and when I needed the benefits I worked for I got denied

i lived in a border area some years ago... they would walk all over my small property, throw trash everywhere, strip my fruit trees, throw rocks at my dog... things would go missing... they'd gather anywhere without care... came home once to about 15 migrants squatting around a meal just yards from my front door... it was terrible...

I shall ALWAYS trumpet the sacrifices and courage of DUNKIRK - - - Dunkirk is a small town on the coast of France that was the scene of a massive military campaign during World War II. During the Battle of Dunkirk from May 26 to June 4, 1940, some 338,000 British Expeditionary Force (BEF) and other Allied troops were evacuated from Dunkirk to England as German forces closed in on them. The massive operation, involving hundreds of naval and civilian vessels, became known as the “Miracle of Dunkirk” and served as a turning point for the Allied war effort.
On the evening of May 26, the British began the evacuation from Dunkirk, using the codename Operation Dynamo.
Vice Admiral Bertram Ramsay directed the efforts, leading a team working out of a room deep inside the Dover cliffs that had once contained a generator known as a dynamo (giving the operation its name).
The Luftwaffe’s relentless bombing attacks on the harbor slowed the evacuation process, even as Royal Air Force (RAF) planes tried to delay or stop the German planes from reaching the beaches, losing many aircraft in the process.
Dunkirk Evacuation
On the first full day, Operation Dynamo was only able to evacuate about 7,500 men from Dunkirk; around 10,000 got out the following day (May 28).
As Dunkirk had such a shallow beach, Royal Navy vessels couldn’t reach it, and the Allies put out a call for smaller ships to carry troops from the shore to the larger ships further out in the North Sea. Some 800 to 1,200 boats, many of them leisure or fishing crafts, eventually aided in the evacuation from Dunkirk.
Some were requisitioned by the Navy and crewed by naval personnel, while others were manned by their civilian owners and crew. The first members of this small armada-which would become known as the “Little Ships”-began arriving on the beaches of Dunkirk on the morning of May 28, helping to speed up the evacuation.
At the outset, Churchill and the rest of British command expected that the evacuation from Dunkirk could rescue only around 45,000 men at most. But the success of Operation Dynamo exceeded all expectations. On May 29, more than 47,000 British troops were rescued; more than 53,000, including the first French troops, made it out on May 30.
By the time the evacuations ended, some 198,000 British and 140,000 French troops would manage to get off the beaches at Dunkirk-a total of some 338,000 men. An additional 90,000 Allied forces were left behind, along with the bulk of the BEF’s heavy guns and tanks, when the resistance ended on the morning of June 4 and German troops occupied Dunkirk.

To use New Yorkers’ tax money to fund these humanitarian operations is not efficient nor fair. First, everyone can claim he or she is asylum seeker. Why not? To get free money, free shelter, free food and clothing… US is a heaven to them. On the other hand, I see many people are struggling. I see not enough mental health facilities or shelters to shelter mentally ill people. Why? Not enough money. Ironic, right? Second, it’s not fair to other immigrants. If everyone should be treated equally under the law, then it’s not equal for other immigrants who must pay hundreds of thousands of dollars and have to have sufficient means to support themselves in order to come and stay in the US. We should just abolish visa systems and let everybody come like asylees. I see no justification for this different treatment. Immigrants are equal, no matter for what reasons they give up their home countries. Anybody can say he or she doesn’t want to go back. Why one’s reason is better than others? a big loophole at best and anybody can take advantage of it.

It doesn't just fall on the NYC taxpayers, as they indicated. Funding and grants are given by the federal government for asylum services. The burden fall on each of us here in the U.S., whether you live in a city that hosts migrants or not. Our taxes are through the roof because of this, and our taxes will keep going up, along with prices for a lot of things, as the need for money for these millions of people will get tucked into our everyday purchases. The cost of gas is now going up, so I suspect the taxes you and I pay for this will in part go to the migrants. The cost of air fares and other services will go up again. Prices cannot come down, because the cost of this influx of migrants will be eating up every dime we don't send to Ukraine.

in 2020 alone, when our economy was completely shut down, Mexicans residing in the US sent $40 billion in remittances back to Mexico... $40 billion in remittances!... that is $40 billion that did NOT circulate in our economy at a time when our government was sending out stimulus checks to keep this country going... that $40 billion is equivalent to like a third of the Mexican government's annual budget... its like they export migrants and import remittances... i personally think we should be able to heavily tax those remittances... in some cases, confiscate it...
