She was clearly unhappy with how the performance went, which is why she hustled off. The piece is crazy, and she missed more notes towards the end than she usually would. Her standard for accuracy is nuts, no doubt she was pissed
Beyond Yuja Wang's musicianship and dazzling technique, is the feeling that she's having a blast. What's missing from the commentary below are words about the composer, Lowell Liebermann, who writes one incredible work after the next without any end in sight.
So what if its derivative of a bit of Prokofieff....great composer and Im sure he would be pleased if he could inspire someone to compose stunningly for the piano as he did....
It is a piece that you cannot get tired off but the problem is that for the general public it is a piece that hard to fall in love with in the first place, put that much effort I wish the receive audience will be wider for her
Well done, my girl! You've played this special composition which I would have attempted for sure when I was a bit younger - your age - and I must tell you: I loved the attack you gave it in the beginning. Had Gargouilles, the Grotesques and the Chimera not been so high on my schedule I might never have listened to you playing it BUT Chartres Cathedral etc. have long been my favourites. Hold the heads of the Gargoyeles high!!!
Thank you! Artist of the Year and complete pianist. Perfect interpretations from Scarlatti to contemporary pieces like this. No other pianist has this range.
Michael. I agree wholeheartedly with what you say about this incredible young woman. She can be likened to a spectacular supernova in the night sky that we hope will never fade and die
They just like her because they listen with their eyes and not their ears. Seen her live twice, the tone is average and the musical concepts are unclear. Simply put one of the most over hyped artists of our time. Uchida is a goddess, and Argerich has a better "range," even if Argerich was not still performing Wang still wouldn't be on my top 10 list of artists in terms of range. In fact the only list Wang is on in my studio is the bright tone list, I often play her for my students to show them how not to dress and how not to approach.
I enjoy her performances as well. However, what can you say of pianists like Hamelin? He seems to have an even broader range and remarkable control and maturity. I'm willing to bet that YW would be the first to admit this.
Well, I wouldn't call it "trash", Darren. You could argue that it's rather derivative (Prokofiev, especially, can be heard prompting from the wings), but rather this than the meaningless atonal rubbish that claims to be "music". But if you want something truly original and challenging, try David Earl's new Piano Suite "Darshanas", recently posted. You won't have heard anything like that.
@@KyleHohn that's because you write your comments around what other posters may think. My comments are straight from my heart and my loins. Little Yuja is as talented as she is beautiful and that says a hellofva lot; if you can't see that I pity you, Kyle.
She's great, don't get me wrong. But she could have slowed the fuck down on the Adagio Semplice. I've heard it played with more tension and stillness, which brings out the rhythm in the entire piece.
Lmao she bowed and got off the stage so fast, I love her
Cameron barely a bow

I rarely listen to modern composers, but as soon as I heard Liebermann's Flute Concerto I was hooked.
Wonderful
No. 3 the allegro moderato is so beautiful.
Yuja Wang is so cool!!
갠적으로 유자왕 연주 중 젤 좋음 ㅠㅠ,,

Michael Schefold Not true. There are thousands of pianists who have said "range." Dispense with your tunnel vision.

Majestic in many ways
Pretty good pianist!... Very comfortable on a difficult composition.

Agreed. Got to interview her once.
So how'd it go?

I can't learn to play the piano. I have essential tremor in my left hand!

Thanks so much for this information. I did not know Composer David Earl. What a discovery for me. Grateful greetings.
Played like this it is certainly an enjoyable piece. Neither she nor it need the dress!
Well, it would be a bit distracting if she wasn't wearing anything :-)
Paul den Hollander / 03data LOL
Melvyn Elphee - what exactly are you talking about?
My advice is to disregard what the performer is wearing and focus on the music.
@@nicb4589 Agree!

I’ve always felt that she’s overrated. Just my opinion, but I know I’m not alone.
Why do you feel this way?
Pffffffft. Your opinion is overrated (in your own mind).

Can you elaborate on that
Say you have no clue without saying you have no clue
Relative to the great composers, Liebermann is nothing.
Lol Sounds like you have personal issues with him
I disagree he’s just modern and experimenting he’s a great genius you are just too ignorant
says who...who are you, compared to any musician?
