I am 81 going on 82. When watching Yuja I close my eyes and find myself sleeping in huge forest, oine located in the miffle of a garden land. I smell he freshness of the moss, hear tiny chicadees chirping in the breeze. I'm in heaven. (Thanks, Yuja --- Surely the God of Heaven who knows what lovely things grow on mountaintops knows you're the fairest of them all-- no mirror necessary on the wall, dear girl).
The best things in life are free. Yuja's sensuality on stage complements perfectly to her Piano virtuosity. Its a gift to all of us to share her personality and talent with all of us.
I would not have thought this possible, half an hour on the Musician of the Year, no interview, no pictures of pet dog, just music all the way. Immense thanks!
I have to listen to Yuja with my eyes closed. She is so beautiful that when I open my eyes and look, at her, other thoughts intrude which take me away from her magnificent playing
I like 98% of all her interpretations... come to think of it I like all ;-) She is simply unique, fresh, perfect technique and musical feeling, aside from that she has a great sense of humor and is a very sweet person! So unlike many others... and that is not meant to disqualify any other pianist.
Yuja, listening to you play is like being in a kind of musical heaven. I thank you with all my heart for what you are giving to us all - and thank you, Michel, for creating this very fine tribute.
An Exceptional, Wonderful, Fantastic, Genius pianist -- But there is NO such thing as : "The best who ever lived" I suggest you listen more and acquire a more mature and less puerile perspective as to just WHAT Greatness IS
Incredible passion in her play.Total command of the composition. A Truly gifted Artist who dedicated her life and time to be A World Renowned Concert Pianist. UNA Brava Artista
Talent and technique in spades - at this level of musicianship, it is best not to compare her to others - just appreciating the gift that Ms.Wang has and recognizing the dedicated YEARS of hard work that brought her to us is way more emotionally rewarding. Valentina Lisitsa also belongs in the piano playing firmament but comparing her to Yuja Wang or others would simply rob us of the pleasure of listening to each consummate artist with open hearts and minds.
I had never seen or heard her play Ravel until now. I don't see how it is humanly possible to move her fingers so quickly~! She is in my mind one of the greatest musical artists in the history of mankind~! Sorry Vlad, you've been replaced~!

A Pianist like this only comes along once in a generation or two. While there are some very good technical pianists out there. Wang can do both ends of the Spectrum brilliantly. Not to mention is just on a whole different level. Not only is she absolutely stunning. But is already one of the finest classical musicians in the world. Yang has a very bright future ahead. :)
She's wonderful. A friend to whom I forwarded a performance (Beethoven's Sonata 29) said I liked her looks. I told my friend that she hadn't listened to the performance. Busted she was. She did listen and changed her mind. I wouldn't care if Ms. Wang looked like a horse and wore a barrel while she played. It is nice that she looks great but many women do. Her musicianship is amazing.
