Yuja Wang is the driving force here. Her exceptional ability to consistently perform far beyond the World's typical professional level is feeding Joshua Bell's performance. Amazing performance from two world class musicians for this most difficult violin sonata out of 10 violin sonatas Beethoven has written. They played with great "harmony" with each other, great dynamics too.

its good to find this jewel. You can apreciate musicality level of joshua who is pulling Yuya to the musical guideline. it is very refreshing the virtuosity of Yuya. Two of them make a good mix, musicality and technique. Yuya goes following Yoshua which is not the musical guideline of Yoshua, is the music guideline that Beethoven has written and the music itsefl says. Yoshua express this musical flow with the maximum clarity and exptression. I think Yuya had good musical learning coming from yoshua. Anucase even we see that Yuya is following Yoshua, the virtuosism of Yuya is excelent and there is no other pianist who can make sound the piano like that. Once again Yuya makes piano sound like a toy and the mix between the extreme musicality of Yoshua and Yuya´s playing way create this extraotdinary Beethoven who also is both, a mix between deep and joke. Bravo!
"...joshua who is pulling Yuya to the musical guideline..." I know your 1st language isn't English. But in any language this is complete nonsense, and deeply insulting to Yuja Wang.
Oh dear, I have to say that Joshua Bell violin playing is two weak to come through in this great work and his sound generally never inspired me anyway. I would love to hear Yuja perform with somebody else with more power, possibly Ray Chen.
Why does Mr. Bell move around so much? I asked this question below, and slightly re-phrasing it: A given pianist when they're playing a solo recital, a concerto performance, or chamber music always seem to move their bodies (torso, not the hands obviously) the same - quite moderate - amount. But Mr. Bell seems to be moving his body much more than if he were playing in a string quartet, as if he's "adding some dance moves" to the performance. Is this accidental, him just being absorbed in the music (a quartet is just as absorbing, and I never see physicality like that in a string quartet performance), or he doing it deliberately?
@@alexanderknoll9293 what the heck does that mean????? They DO after all play string quartets in concert halls; and the violin writing in a string quartet is just as difficult and taxing as in this sonata. So why would there be all this over the top physical motion? What’s your point about the difference between playing a violin sonata versus a quartet?
Yes, two really phenomenal musicians, but the balance favored the piano… it made Josh’s beautiful playing the accompaniment at times. The mixing leaves a lot to be desired…. And least we forget, this was a Live performance. Acoustics of the Hall? Perhaps, in the sound check, it could have been noted, a microphone would, very lightly, have given the violin, more presence…to match the percussiveness of the pianos range. That being said, the performers and performance are second to none… 💞🤩💐
I thought the violin was very much prominent and full of presence. I even have hearing loss. Not only did he sound on par with Yuja, he seemed to be leading at times, too.
@@cornelmicut1093 The absurdity of this comment is outrageous. He is one of the best to ever hold a violin and easily her peer as a virtuoso. It can well be argued that he is her superior in terms of expressiveness and overall musicianship.
