0:59. Kind of a dumb question, but what's wrong with the thermostat clamp? 1:23. Have you considered replacing the plastic fuel line with metal? I used brake pipe with a piece of rubber fuel line just before the pump as it moves relative to the fuel line. 4:54. I've never replaced mine, but if you're going to replace the rubber brake lines, have you considered upgrading to braided brake lines? I understand that because they minimize any expansion under pressure, the brakes become rock hard which is a good thing. As usual, another quality video by Ian!

I've been following this with enthusiasm Ian. I have done similar with a Europa many years ago and now am doing an upgrade for the second time. I know the Europa is very different but I have had a lot of success with CV joints and Hookes joints (U/J's). One of each in the drive line.

Thx Mike. The fuel pump didn't leak...well not yet! I've now put the carbs on and it runs

The Plus 2 is such a lovely car and yours is coming along nicely! I wouldn't mind having a bit more space in the engine compartment in my baby Elan like you have-would make things a bit easier. Are you going to stick with donuts in back or go for CV joints? Nice to see an original type glass top fuel pump-my replacement solid top one works well but was over fueling my carbs-had to put a fuel pressure regulator to get it down to the 2.5 psi the Webers like. Looking forward to your progress on this great project-such a useable classic.

      Hi Mark,
Yes, the plan is to change the donuts out for cv joints. What do you have on yours as I'm not sure what arrangement to go for; full cv's or a combination of cv and donuts.

@@ianj3663 Hi Ian- I have full CV joints on mine for about 10k miles, they are VW based I believe and sourced here in the US from RD Enterprises with upgraded drive shafts as well. Have been happy with them but if you choose these be careful with jacking the car up too high in the back-with full droop you may well tear a CV boot. You may have more choices in the UK and I believe some may come with drop limiters if needed.
