This is not a "slum". These are older buildings that people have lived in for decades. Apartments are passed down in families and family members continue to live there even when they are well off.
If you want to see slums, come to America. We have many with methheads and junkies lying and shitting on the sidewalks, trash everywhere, abandoned houses and businesses. What you are filming are very nice places to live in comparison.

There's division instead of unity, a lot of policy fighting over ideology instead of helping people or getting things done. China's mental attitude about their country is pretty good. While it's good for Americans to take an honest look at problems here, beyond that it's not healthy to be so negatively biased and it's not nice of non-US people to be dumping on another countries problems. I would call this a low income neighborhood not a slum. It's clean, water and electricity system are in place. Pretty well maintained neighborhood.
