    You might consider including some dehydrated raspberry fruit with the leaves, it tastes great and gives a stronger flavor.

    I've been making my own herbal teas for years and it's one of my favorite things to do. I use raspberry leaf as one of the ingredients in many of the blends I make. With raspberry leaf, be careful not to steep for much longer than 5 minutes or so, as it might become bitter. Here are 2 of my favorite mixtures using raspberry leaf (all organic):
    1) licorice root, spearmint, citrus peel, a pinch of cinnamon (optional), dried red rosebuds and/or petals, lemon verbena and red raspberry leaf;
    2) spearmint, lemongrass, elder berries(just a few), rosebuds and/or petals, dried linden flowers, chamomile, orange peel, and raspberry leaf.
    Another of my favorite mixtures (doesn't include raspberry leaf) is chamomile, calendula and sage (all of which you could grow).
    Just experiment with amounts to your taste preferences. However, I would caution to go lightly with rosebuds and/or petals as they can quickly overtake the other flavors - and you don't want it to taste like you're sipping on a bottle of perfume - lol.

    I just found your channel this week and I'm seriously binge-watching! Thank you for making these 'scary' things like making sour cream, pasta, Large meal prepping, tea making, etc so straightforward. It makes me feel like they're simpler one-day goals vs "learn to make my own dairy products" ect. And I love that you just record with your phone, it's nice to see someone more relatable.

    I tired this tea since I am growing Raspberry Bushes in my garden. I don't have a dehydrator so I set the leaves atop of my air fryer and left them there for 3 weeks. I then steeped them in a quart of water and rendered some decent tasting tea. Thanks for the tip!

    Hi! I've been binge-watching your channel while crocheting and I like your content. I live in Jamaica and pretty much grow things year-round. I have soursop, and a variety of citrus trees in seedling stage that I hope to get into the ground before the year ends s when they mature those leaves will be great for tea. Currently I have pots of colon peppermint and lemongrass that I either use fresh or dried for tea. Sometimes I have them individually and sometimes I mix them. From time to time I leave them to air dry for a week or two as I don't have a dehydrator. The weather here allows for that kind of drying as well. Other teas I have in the house are cerasee, chamomile, guinea hen, dandelion root and a whole other ton of herbal teas and remedies we use a lot here.

    I've used chocolate mint to make a delicious hot cup of herbal tea. I just pick the leaves of the chocolate mint plant, wash them and pop them into a cup. I then pour boiling water over the leaves and drink. I don't drain the leaves out, just leave them in there whilst I drink the tea. You can use spearmint, regular mint, etc. If you want to go to the trouble, you could dry the leaves first and store in a glass jar but I have my pots of mint on the back verandah, so it is easy to go and pick some leaves. Peppermint tea is very good, too. I also make sage tea when my sage plant is producing and it is lovely. You can sweeten all these teas with honey or sugar, but I don't use any sweetener. Thank you for your video of 'how to make raspberry leaf tea". Very much appreciated.

    Every time my husband and I go to Port Townsend, we stop at the tea and spice shop. He loves the all the individual spices and the blends. Of course I drool over all the tea combinations. It's like visiting a different country in a hot cuppa or a pot of something cooking on the stove. We want to bring a little bit of everything home with us! The vinegar and infused oil shop next door were great also and we hope to go back soon!

    Raspberry tea is good for pregnant women during their last weeks of pregnancy as it softens the cervix. It‘s recommended to start drinking it at the 34/35 week mark (1 cup per day) and increasing it to 2 cups per day at week 36/37 and then 3 cups per day when entering the last 2 weeks of pregnancy (38/39 weeks) up until you give birth. It‘s also recommend for breastfeeding women as it helps with milk production, but I found that lemon verbena was way better in regards to milk production and it can easily been grown. It‘s also super tasty 😋

      Thank you so much for putting this knowledge out there! I will be 35 weeks this coming Thursday, and am going to pick raspberries this evening at a friends patch, hoping to grab some leaves and dehydrate to have for the winter, and now realizing i want/need them for now!😍 also looking into lemon verbena!

    • @jessicasturm5099
      @jessicasturm5099 3 года назад +4

      @@briannatuttle1028 You‘re welcome. Drinking raspberry tea is very safe when you start drinking it at 35 weeks as its effect on the cervix is very mild, but be aware that if you should get contractions before 37 weeks of pregnancy you should stop drinking this tea. Lemon verbena is indeed very good for milk production, but the ultimate power boost for milk production is fenugreek. Tabletts are available on the internet or pharmacies/drug stores, but should only be taken when milk production is too low, otherwise it can lead to overproduction and problems (cloged milk ducts, etc.). Greetings from Austria

    the raspberry and blackberry leaves in store baught teas usually are fermented so that they taste similar to black tea. it's a simple process, maybe you could test that with some of your leaves next time. and for fruit tea, definitely try rose hips! they are delicious to eat fresh or in jam too but you can only eat the outer layer and removing the insides manually takes a lot of work. but if you harvest for tea only, you can dehydrate them in whole and crush with a mortar

    Hello love. First of all my daughter and I love your channel. We watch every video you make. I'm 67 and my daughter is 48. We live in Rochester NY. I'm retired and my girl is a double amputee so the regular gardening is out of the picture for us but I'm looking forward to you doing your patio planters. Any how with you raspberry tea I saw this girl doing a video on the tea so not sure if it's any help or not but here is her info. (Melissa k. Norris modern homesteading) keep your videos coming. Love you guys.

    I was just watching doing Fermented Tea Leaves. One reason is, the amount of nutrition that is kept, while drying, is doubled. Secondly it transfers from pale green mild tea, to dark tea with flavour punch.
    And i saw 2 ways of Fermenting. 1 is way easier and faster Product Storage. You freeze leaves in a bag and clumped up, for about 6 hrs. Take it out and bust up while frozen. The goal is to get leaves and cells broken up. Then you leave it in bowl, place weight on it and leave out in sun or warm place, to start a fermenting. Then dehydrate.
    2nd was take lots of leaves and bash with rolling pin, until half the pile remains. Massaging to break the leaf cells. Then Weeks of closed in jar, bring out, break clumps and aerate, watching for white mold growth. Aerating and fluffing stops full mild growth. After 6 weeks, the result is an earthy scent and blackish leaf tea. This is then ready to use.

    I'm so going to try this next year. I have some, I guess you'd call them volunteers, raspberry plants, run aways from my neighbor. Could you add dried or freezedried raspberries to it, maybe? I was also thinking black currants, those leaves really smell like the berries.
    I so enjoy your videos, really inspiring.

    I have an insane amount of wild blackberries that I am going to harvest the leaves for tea. I have never tried raspberry tea before. Have you ever used fresh leaves for tea? I have apple mint and make fresh leave tea with it all the time. I love it. I always dehydrate enough to get me through the winter.

    Thank you for your video. Question:
    I don't mind the bitter taste but I read another comment from another vlog that brewing/boiling the loose leaves of the tea for longer periods burns the "goodness" and nutrients of the tea.
    How long can you brew (boil) the tea for?

  • @jenstanley4921

    Maybe you could put some dehydrated raspberries in with the leaves to steep. 😊

      @@AcreHomestead I really need to get a dehydrator. I am thinking of drying some dandelion flowers for tea, just using the sun or oven for now. Also I did hear that if you pick the baby leaves of the runners on the strawberry plants you can make tea just like the raspberry leaves. I plan to dry citrus peels to add to tea mixes. I need to figure out how to make peach tea for the hubby.

    Some other things I grow that end up in my tea include: lavender buds, fennel seeds, lemon balm, mint, anise hyssop, chamomile, and calendula. I dehydrate and store separately then mix and match depending on what I’m in the mood for. Also good with dehydrated citrus slices and Spring honey from my hives. Our Spring honey is much milder than the Fall honey and I like it better for tea.

      @@AcreHomestead Yes. I don't really notice a flavor one way or the other, but it has antioxidants, is good for the immune system, and is a good detox (good for the liver and gallbladder).

    I made mint, chamomile and lemon balm tea last year. You can buy a box of 100 silk bags from Amazon for like 6 or more dollars!! I filled them and gave them as gifts with thrifted mugs to my coworkers! I wonder if anyone has made a savory tea with thyme and Rosemary and such??? It would be healthy!!! Anyone out there try it???
