Most games are about power fantasies but ace attorney is for those that want big brain fantasies because let's be honest this game makes you sound smarter than you are.
No, it makes me feel dumb every time when my client gets a guilty verdict because I didn't found two pixels of blood (very grave exaggeration) in omnibus, because I thought "hey, I checked this evidence before, there's nothing for me to seek".
I played through the first 4 games, and I got way faster at pointing out things and finding evidence. It takes some practice, but after a while, you'll be better at it.
@@itchyrock same. In the last case of the third game, I was figuring everything out instantly, presenting the right evidence without even thinking twice and there being no need in pressing the witnesses. I just skipped all useless dialogue and didn't save the last half of the trial

Usually Pursuit themes feel like you're shouting out something like "You've lost!"
But to me, this one sounds more like a triumphant "I've won!"

Reminds me of Apollo Justice's Pursuit theme. It played once in Trump, twice in Corner, a shitton in Serenade (oh God why) and maybe once or twice in Succession. That's it.
Heck, Overtaken never plays during the last trial day. Its filled with Telling the Truth 2007, Reminiscences, Klavier's theme, etc. BUT not Overtaken. Its like you are not the one who corners the last witness, the others do.
@@PydraxAlpta that is a thing that I hate of apollo justice, apollo isn't the protagonist of his game, in the non filler cases, 1 and 4 is phoenix who do all the important stuff, clues for acuss kristoph, the card with blood and all succesion after the first trial, you defear kristoph with the letter that he discovered in his investigation and with the jurors, that exist for phoenix, and he is the only that know the secret of lamiroir.
And all this hate increased with spirit of justice, that have 2 good cases with apollo being the protagonist, one being the final case, and is more important in this game that in the game with his name
Honestly I find it better that way. I dislike it when they overuse the pursuit theme. It's a theme that should play 1 time during a trial, maximum 2 times. And it should only play when you're about to defeat the witness/culprit. Some games play the tracks too much that they lose their impact. Pursuits should only play in the climax of the trials.
I think this is the best use of a pursuit theme in the ace attorney series. Less is better sometimes
Love this theme so much… unlike the other AA pursuit themes, it doesn’t feel like attacking the culprit as much as celebrating the revealed truth
It more feels like you are triumphant and are about to deal the final blow to your enemy. That is why you still have the parts that invoke anticipation in the middle. You almost won but there is still a chance for a counterattack

Ryunosuke's determination to uphold his values, firmly believing in the innocence of his client and fighting for it to the better end, knowing he'll make the whole damn British Empire his enemy, is just so amazing. No wonder Wright ends up being a complete badass, it runs in the family I guess.

Fun fact: The r/AceAttorney subreddit a little while back held a song elimination contest, pitting every Ace Attorney song from every Ace Attorney game against one another in one big poll. This song won the whole thing. So I guess this is legally the best song in all of Ace Attorney.
Yeah I still remember it, Lying Coldly came second place
This is definitely my favourite song in the series, but the tournament definitely had some problems.
Firstly, it was elimination based, so it was more about which songs were least-hated than most-liked (a small but crucial difference) in the middle stages of the competition.
Secondly, the comments with most votes were in most cases those that had been made first. Therefore anyone who was later to a post due to time zones (I would know) had a far smaller say in the outcome.
Thirdly, during the start of the second round, everyone targeted JFA's nominations prematurely mainly because they were easy targets. I get that many consider it to have the weakest soundtrack, but the extent it got targeted was completely unjustified imo.
Finally, the way the competition worked meant that there were some game-changing mistakes by the community. During round one for example, the community agreed to eliminate *either* Cornered 2001 or Cornered 2001 (Variation) to make things simpler, but accidentally ended up eliminating both. The outcome could have been far different if that didn't happen.
Also, as great as the Ace Attorney community is on Reddit, there is definitely an echo chamber when it comes to these sorts of things
Yeah, admittedly, what you're saying is true. Another thing that I really do not care for in these contests is voting out characters because they're "too obvious", which happened a lot in previous elimination contests and happened in this one. It feels like people who said that treated the contest like a game and not like a genuine reflection of the community's opinions.

@@TheUltimateRare Capcom didnt localize AAI2 because it didnt get a lot of sales in Japan, and the DS and 3DS being discontinued would mean it would need a remaster to be ported to newer platforms. Guess we'll have to wait for them to release another collection game that would probably feature AA4, both AAI games, and PROBABLY DD and SoJ

This is amazing. To hell with the people who say it's not fast enough to be a pursuit theme. Speed isn't everything in music you know.
Honestly, for the longest time, the intensely fast music of the pursuit changed video game music. Permanently. I guess people just didn’t get a new pursuit theme that would probably change music in a long time and when they finally got it, they just went, oh? That’s it? It isn’t hating. It’s just expecting a revolution.
And yet I digress. The music is quite fast and enjoyable, yet that’s not what the pursuit themes are about! It gives you this feeling of success and victory, even when you know it’s not over yet. What I’m trying to say, is this song IS a pursuit theme, if people know it, or not.

This sounds triumphant, really. The other pursuit themes represented how they're "cornering" their witnesses preventing them to make a comeback while this one is slow, calm, not fast but with every statement carries a huge impact on the witness until they're finally cornered, down on their knees, with only the truth remaining!

Best Pursuit theme in the series. The first time I listened to this I was mesmerized and listened to it again and again for hours. No other Pursuit theme made me feel like that.

((One of the most badass lines in the entire series I really mean it I want a brand new ace attorney game so bad so I can get my blood pumping when the case gets exciting))

This is such a good pursuit theme I didn't even realize it's a lot slower than the pursuit themes from SOJ and DD, the instrumentation alone makes the song feel fast paced and upbeat without the song itself needing to be excessively fast like cornering together

@@jaxsterminator8634 the clacking backtrack, descending scale segments, and rapid chromatics on strings are all tools in the composition used to create a sense of motion and acceleration which are used expertly here to make it feel zipping fast at points, regardless of actual tempo (tldr fast notes and complex patterns make up for a slower technical tempo and still create a sense of speed)

The Great Ace Attorney felt like a slow build-up on purpose.
For the first 2 cases you aren't even a Law Student, hell you don't even go to court in the second trial!
You don't initially solve the 3rd case, only uneasy that you might have let a guilty man go, to his death that is.
And for the first time, in a case almost completely unrelated to the main story, you finally feel like a true Lawyer and this theme plays.
And then during that hell of a final case, you have earnt that title of "The Great Ace Attorney" and pursuit plays in the typical fashion...
God I love this game and can't wait to finish Resolve!

This is exactly why this theme left such an impact on me the first time I had the pleasure to listen to it. It marks the turning point where Ryunosuke really comes into his own as a lawyer, completely trusting in his client and fully prepared to fight till the bitter end.

I like how this pursuit give more of an 'achieving feeling', Naruhodou is just a student that suddenly got accused of murder, then got to go to the British Empire, where he became a successful lawyer after all the obstacles he'd went through (Case 2 and 3 in particular).

to everyone saying this is not a pursuit theme...I say to you go and at least look at a let's play of the game. it's not even set in the same time period. it's literally the first emergence of the ace attorney bloodline. ryunosuke naruhodo is a turn of the 20th century teenager who looks WAY to much like Phoenix Wright...... the music totally fits the game and that's all that matters.
+Louis Benson I agree, slower or not I can see this being a great pursuit theme that pushes the action.
Not to mention, Ryunosuke doesn't even start saying "Objection" until this theme starts playing. He doesn't even have his own Objection theme to start with, in fact he wasn't even a lawyer originally, so he starts out really nervous and Kazuma has to finish most of his arguements for him.
The moment this song first plays is just perfect. You watch Ryunosuke develop his confidance throught the first case. This song marks the point where he can finally stand on his own, and where you finally see where Phoenix got his awesomeness from.

This song really has impact, it's used so sparingly. Currently on case 2 of Resolve.
This song has actually rewired my brain, it's not just an earworm it has actively built a house in my head and is paying rent, it might be my favourite video game song ever and that's quite an accolade--
There is a reason in my opinion that this pursuit theme is unique and sounds this way!

@@noahxolotl I think they are referring to a full French localization. The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles are released in Europe, but only in English. (Europe is also the only major region which lacks any physical release whatsoever, but hey it's Capcom.) The original Trilogy was localized in a variety of different languages like German, French, Italian and Spanish, but I think that was in part a collective effort with Nintendo of Europe which might be why the 2019 Trilogy still lacks the Spanish translation.

I dont get the people saying this is a slow theme and that sounds like an objection theme... Can you exactly tell me where the heck its the slow part? Also why the theme has to be fast to be a pursuit theme?
+Nico Beltran Aliaga I can somewhat understand though. I keep screwing up the tempo count, but I have noticed there isn't a huge difference in tempo between this game's objection theme and pursuit theme. Doesn't stop them from being fantastic themes, though.
Well thats because, for starters, this theme strikes you as a triumphal parade (much like previous Objection themes) and gives that feeling of wanting to shove the evidence in the culprit's face. Secondly, we have that -for the most of them- Pursuit themes are very high paced as they want to make you feel an urge of pressing the culprit to a corner (hence the name of the first one), much like a very intense pursuit... I got a question for you, have you listened to previous pursuit themes? (excluding "Keep Pressing On" for instance) Do you see the pattern?
Hm, but still, I think this pursuit theme makes me (at least) want to press the culprit into a corner, and because Ryuunosuke (Phoenix's ancestor) was in the past, the theme, in my opinion, should fit the time period it is in, and so since in the games the court in Japan isn't as strong, I guess (which is why Ryuunosuke's friend Asougi was supposed to go to London) the pursuit theme wouldn't be as fast. Compared to the themes for the original Phoenix Wright games, which are set in a more modern time, and since there are people who are constantly getting convicted, Phoenix Wright seems like a hero in the courtroom, and as the new defense attorney (I'm talking about the first game here), him being able to corner someone would seem more exciting that a theme in the past. Plus, if you compare this theme to the objection theme for Dai Gyakuten Saiban, I think we can all agree that the objection theme suits it better than the pursuit theme would. The point is, as the years go on, the pursuit themes become more... exciting and fast-paced, I guess, and the reason why some people might find that this theme isn't as good is because it's different than other themes, but I think this is a good pursuit theme because it's a little different from the others, since they are mostly electronic and this one is instrumental. I think it's a good change, and some people like instrumental while others don't, and I'm not trying to say that people who don't like this theme are terrible and all, but I'm just putting out my opinion.

Grace Yang Hey... don't get me wrong! I absolutely LOVE this theme, along with other soundtracks of the game. See, I get your point, it is weird transitioning from high paced electronic arrangements to almost fully orchestral songs, yet, have you heard some of the Gyadkuten Meets Orchestra arrangements? They ABSOLUTELY destroy their predecesors (take Quetioned for example) and, moreover, their modern reboots counterparts (like the ones from PL v PW). Cornered (PL v PW) it's a ok orchestral reboot (yet GMO version is better imo) and Keep Pressing On... please, after Overtaken, Lying Coldly and Wanting to Find the Truth they could have done something better I think, it is a week pursuit theme imo (or is it the game? idk). About the time setting, well they game's sound track is well placed in that regard but I stan by my point there's some good tracks that (after some arrangement) could easily fit for courts in the game.
It is somewhat slower than usual. Especially when compared to the one from Justice for All which is often the one all others are compared to.

Man I was writing a book report to GAA songs. Started with Moderato and hit the Allegro midway through. Then as I started writing my conclusion I played this theme and I never felt more alive than in that moment. The music was timed perfectly as I typed every word out and when I went to click enter. Man I felt like what Ryunosuke feels like after taking down the villain in 1-5. GAA Songs are something else

I’ve been listening to this for a while now, especially in hype for GAAC, and I gotta say, the fact that it took until the end of the (somewhat) long first case for this to play made the moment so much better. It’s probably my favorite of the post-trilogy pursuit themes.
