- This interview was aired in 1993 soon after Michael's interview with Oprah was broadcast. In it the Jackson family discuss Michaels plastic surgery & changing skin color, Jermaines controversial song 'word to the badd' and La Toya's estrangement from the family (amonst other things).
This interview includes the entire Jackson family including Joseph, Katherine, Rebbie, Jackie, Tito, Jermaine and Randy. La Toya, Marlon, Michael and Janet are not interviewed but they are the topic of discussion.
Includes excerpts from Black and White, Gone to soon and the 93 grammy awards.

@@memelashey974 you should really do more research before making statements like that. michael never stated "no girls allowed" or every insinuated the idea either. he slept in the same room as various people, girls and boys, his little nieces and nephews, etc. michael lived a very different life than most people and thought a lot differently as well. but by no means is that an indication of his guilt. facts and evidence proves guilt or innocence, not the judgment of whether something is "normal" or not.

Did you see what MJ looked like during his teenage years? Some of his siblings appear to have had nose jobs. But, I believe MJ did a bit more. He hated his appearance. If you notice, he carefully chose kids that look nothing like him.
I'm a Jackson fan and even i have to admit that many of them did nose jobs. Look at their earlier pictures. Anyway almost everyone in Hollywood altered their appearance so i wonder what the focus on them was.

Tickets were sold out for the last show when i got to madison square garden to see them reunite for their 30th anniversary sept. 2001, however i was lucky enough to see MJ in person at the union square nyc virgin megastore later in november promoting/signing copies of his new album invincible. That was a fun experience for me, i enjoyed the reactions from all of the people that came out to support him. He was bar none one of the most loved entertainers on the planet. 1958-2009
Doing this interview, probably made Michael isolate himself more from the family being that he was and rightfully so private. But I do understand the family's reason for doing this, it was their way of reaching out to him because he was apparently not taking their phone calls

It's sad watching this, knowing Michael died. But clearly the memory is still alive in us and vivid.
This interviewer was bringing up a lot of good points though… 0:53 and to that I would say our societies obsession with Eurocentrism and reinforcing it as superior or the beauty “ideal” but at same time it’s not on them it’s a result of our culture. We’ve all dealt with this maybe not just plastic surgery but in other ways too. What is unfair to them though is that their so much in the public eye that they will become the most scrutinized for it.
If you come from a big family then you would understand most of the problems they had or faced as parents, as siblings and as a family. On top of that being the Jacksons and being black and famous. It all make sense if people just think about it. I come from a big family and to keep all kids in line you have to work hard and be strict as a parent. And then being famous and black it's much more difficult.

For the people defending Joe in the comments, y'all really don't have a clue. Not everyone handles that sort of "discipline" in the same way. Michael was more sensitive than his brothers. He was terrified of Joseph, sometimes vomiting or fainting in his presence and was still scared of him in adulthood. That is NOT normal. It's bad enough that Joe beat him, but he verbally abused Michael as well, making fun of the way he looked. I don't give a shit what the other siblings say, it is totally inexcusable for a parent to tell their own child they are ugly. Funny how when the reporter asked the family why they think Michael starting getting plastic surgery, everyone froze. I know damn well every one of them was thinking "Joseph" but they didn't have the balls to say it. Michael, however did in several interviews. When he told Oprah about how hard Joe was on him he seemed worried that he was still going to hurt him in some way, saying "Sorry, Joseph. Please don't be mad at me." Michael was thankful for all that Joseph did for him and his brothers and he forgave him (once again, refer to his interview with Oprah) but he never forgot about what he did. A lot of his problems he faced later in life can be traced back to his childhood relationship with his father. So yeah, actually it was a big deal. Stop making excuses for Joe's behavior.

@@FedeRhodes I believe there is some truth to that. Michael had gotten to a point that he didn't want to bother with people who he couldn't control. There are members of his family he couldn't control. They weren't going to tell him what he wanted to hear and he didn't like that.

Uno2000 I know 😔🤦🏾♂️I don’t recommend watching any rare amateur footage from those concerts, particularly the September 7th show. He was so disoriented and he was making a mistakes in the choreography, missing a lot of notes, he even messed up the moonwalk in “Billie Jean”. Plus his eyes looked like they were closed most of the time and they looked lifeless like nobody’s home. It’s really hard to watch amateur footage from that first concert and it kinda spoils it because the version that aired looked so much better. But he’s still a legend.🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️

I do not think it had anything to do with laziness, I believe it's the music industry's policy and also the change in taste of music. Jermaine was essentially RnB and funk, Mj was mainly pop. Also, those brothers got married early and started a family of their own. MJ stayed at home until fully grown and had unorthodox family that is still causing problems even after his death. Jermaine DID record more albums that MJ, but if the record label don't promote them there is nothing he could do!
