    This is strange because this performance was missing from all subsequent releases, even a contemporary recording, there was also an impersonator of Dennis Thatcher which went entirely unused but has cropped up in a few places

      That would be John Wells, reading from his Dear Bill letters from Private Eye (Bill was William Deedes). I didn't have this song on my LP version either, but it is listed in this version: www.discogs.com/master/187266-Various-The-Secret-Policemans-Ball

      @@billbobmatthews I have the audio only in a slightly cut down form, removing the "N in a woodpile" line, it's on youtube somewhere

      I am sure I have this in the original LP, I think it’s the full version.

      @@Marcia_Toms You're right it was on the original vinyl LP, but was later removed. Along with other segments. Whether this was because of political correctness, I don't know. Billy's song was probably removed because it had a large number of people falling to their death off the edge of a cliff. And also the line that he put the c**t in country music.
