- I am not sure if this is on youtube but I find it funny so I uploaded it.(audio by the way with pictures) Billy talks about the glasgow accent and singing a song about a woman wanting 10 guitars
Billy always a class act.
I live in Edinburgh but my mother was a Glaswegian so I often visited relatives there and can honestly say that Glasgow folk are the salt of the earth. Also I had no problem understanding what Billy was saying or what he was alluding to. The man's a comic genius.
I am from the north east and I love Glasgow. love the city . love the people . best part of Scotland by far . be proud lads and lasses !
Love him. Xxxxx
Thanks 😘
Billy gives warmth, beauty and life in his humour and by bringing the best out of his appreciators, he also, often, chases the threats of darkness by the laughter he creates.
Any time I'm in a bad mood I put this on and, by the end, I'm laughing so hard my bad mood is gone! My whole family is from glasgow and most of my parents friends were. Takes me back to good times!
Seeing Billy live is the only thing on my bucket list. There are no words for how much I adore him, funniest person on the planet.
And also the most interesting and windswept person on the planet.
i would prolly sit and cry..... Laughing out of my ass but crying at the same time. He's so amazing. He means more than any other comic. The best. ♥ ALWAYS IN OUR HEARTS
Jo M am afraid you will huff tae kick that aff he is pish now the gid auld days are gone
Stacy blue. I saw him live in Dublin in FEBRUARY THIS YEAR 2017. he was brilliant as ever. A bit slower yes but absolute class humour
Yes he is a bit slower but he is not afraid to make a jab at Parkinson's. He is and has always been so relevant. So familiar in a great soul kinda way. Reminds me of some people I have known. But Billy still has a gift for humor and has made so many people feel so relevant themselves. He is so familial.
I have had the amazing good fortune to meet Mr CONNOLLY twice. He is the nicest guy. First time he said "God, I bet you get some stick look in' like that!"
Listening to this on LP so decided to check to see if it was on YT!
Billy your the greatest. Thanks for the laughter.
I watched Rab C Nesbitt with the subtitles on for the first few series, now I'm fluent in Glaswegian.
Love you, Billy. Whenever I need a laugh, I look you up. Thanks.
Recently visited Glasgow and for the life of me I could not understand half of what I was being told. The people were however absolutely delightful and patiently enunciated every syllable in the half words strung together that comprised sentences. :)
Lucky enough to have seen him live a couple of times....its a painful experience
I've seen Billy live several times. Question why is it such painful experience for people.
Laughed so much at this stuff when it first came out in the 70s, and it's still funny now.
I heard it then too, haven't heard it since...I remembered some of the first gag...
Get a statue of Billy while he's still with us, love the Big Yin.
"If we've any tourists in... fae like, Milngavie"... brilliant lol Spam Valley!
When he was still hysterical.
Any tourists in milgavie cracks me up every time a suburb of Glasgow which is a bit posh
I used to live in Scotland and appriciate your uploading this audio and pictures of my favorite Scottish comedian, Billy Connolly.
"Is there money in the box?" Naw, I'm in here myself
Brilliant! Originally by Chic Murray in the late50s/early 60s, famed by Did You See Dumbarton Rock 😀
The wind swept and interestin' Big Yin , for me, is the funniest man on the planet.
indeed. Cant say enough about Billy. He is a grand soul.
elijah pink I’m from Castlemilk Glasgow and it’s great to truly understand what he’s going on about Hysterically funny . I remember his 1st ever Parkinson Interview early in his career . I never heard someone on tv speak like me ever in my life.He is the epitome of the Greatest Comedian of Glasgow behaviour , humour and story telling ever . Especially in the 70s he was So truthful and raw . He told us stories about poverty in Glasgow, stories about working in the ship building industry , alcoholics etc etc. He made it so funny no one (except ppl from that place/era ) knew deeply about what he was talking about and it made then laugh hard at they’re own predicaments . Especially in his early career as he spoke about poverty and how ppl dealt with it . He takes you to a dark place disguised with sarcasm and humour and we loved him for it . That’s how us Glaswegians deal with all sorts of things .
So proud of what he’s achieved after such a horrible start to his life .
Peace from Scotland
Best line EVER!!! My dad used it 😂😂😂😂 . my dads names Jimmy. James to family and old friends. A true Glaswegian from the ‘Good Old Gorbals ‘ which was very violent . 13 kids in a room and kitchen sharing with an alcoholic dad and mother . My da hated Humperdinck as well, lol . Just crack on and laugh my dad taught me , it’s life what you gonna do about it ?? !!! Billy and my dad are similar ages and went through a lot of similar shit. 👍😉😊
For an extra chuckle click on the closed captions and watch what the bot thinks Billy is saying.
No.
I wish I could just stroll past him in our home town of Glasgow and just say "Big yin" and give him a wee smile.
It happened to me about 23 years ago. My wife was running for our bus home in Glasgow City centre and almost ran right into Billy. He stopped a little shocked. My wife didn't even notice him, but I did and stood stunned as he walked on.
Nobody can follow this genius.
Not a genius.
Brilliant observations Billy! The BEST!
Only somebody who's worked the old Scottish club scene can really get how true this is.
Hi, Seen Billy in 1978 at the Pavilion theatre Glasgow with my wee pal Henyboo, it was called Big banana feet.
Such a genuinely funny man, he makes me laugh every time. And what I like is he can laugh at himself. So so funny :D
I want to go to Scotland some day, and listening to Billy makes me want to go more so than ever...
eschnitger well... Its 6 year later? You get yer arse oor here yit?

@@meilewis1863 I do have my kilts ready...
Billy is on my 'dinner party list'... He's the only definite- I thought him, jimi Hendrix (for the music), im stuck already...but billy is a definite.love him
elijah pink Dinnerlist sounds interesting: Christopher Hitchens, Billy Connolly, Bill Hicks, Stephen Fry, Neil Degrasse Tyson, Richard Dawkins, Alan Davies... can't think of many more, but I think a conversation/dinner party with these people would be amazingly entertaining.
billy,robin williams and whoopi goldberg
aparently they were all friends back in the day
its amazing the strength yeh get when u bite ur own willie
Billy Connolly, Billy Crystal, Reba McIntyre, Gene Simmons, Paulina Porizkova and Jennifer Nettles. That would be my dream dinner party!
The amazing thing is that I wouldn't have understood a word of this last year.....Now having spent a lot of time in Glasgow, I understand every word.......Great city, great vid. Thanks for uploading.
Oh love this man one off the best comedians :)
Best comedian ever
I think that was part of the reason that Rangers were able to lure Paul Gascoigne to Glasgow is the closeness & the sort of relationship that the two areas have.
No matter what anyone else tells you, Gazza is loved up in Glasgow.
Nah it was the money.
Genius at work. Simple as that.
Love this man
Billy is a fkn legend. Thanks for posting this..
TheRamsesII drfddtffttt
Absolute comedy genius. Salute you, Billy! (Or, William J Connolly 111) 😂

Pretty much tourist to Glasgow. 😂
1:48 - coin operated phone box, remember Buttons A & B?
Operator: “Is there money in the box?”
Glesca translation: “Is there many (ie people) in the box?”
That’s for the tourists 🤗
Seen the great man live in Falkirk Town Hall about 25 years ago......Amazed he could find it! :)
I know this is an old video but is it just me who thinks folk/comedy is Billy’s best work
Probably.
there's only one big yin, long live the king
There are no words to describe how much I loathe and despise people who _don't_ like Billy. He's like a human litmus test: it enables you to sort out the pricks from the decent blokes. (Oddly enough, I don't think I've ever met a woman who doesn't like Billy.)
He resonates the human spirit as it should be. He embodies the spirit as it should be. He is the spirit as it should be. In our hearts always Billy ♥
Pure comedy gold.
"Hinginn" means "Hanging"!
The funniest man in the world! 😂
Remember me you in snuffies rose st great time .......thanks Billy x

@gulowsen i spose you went to Dundee? yer still alive? amazing rofl
Cosmic! 😊
I'm scared. I understand him.
The best
Pure class i can't beleve this got 7 dislikes
The only possible explanation is that the dislikes came from 7 individuals who can't understand good comedy or a Glaswegian accent.
John Murray its the wankers from the south who cannot understand any of us . like we give a shit !
Tourists from Milngavie, no doubt.
Whit is it wae oor accent? Glesca accent's the best. The one i know and love. THE BEST
the best
Brilliant man the good old days
I love listening to his accent...but when he tells jokes...that accent is so thick I can only understand half of what he's saying.
His accent's not even that broad though. It's less thick than many other Glasgow/West Coast folk's accent's.
X
I'm Glaswegian & I don't understand half of what he's saying but maybe that's because I'm laughing my tits off heard all of these as a wean growing up & now I'm 55 & he still makes me laugh like that 8 year old boy he just tipifies all Glaswegians my old dear knew his family in Anderson when she was a little girl that's my claim to fame
FUNNY!!!!
