Designers and manufacturers have spent plenty of time attempting to get digital to emulate analog. How often have they tried getting analog to emulate digital?
Hard sync on this synth can sort of work sometimes for keeping FM in tune, but not really, definitely not like on a prophet-5 - and it depends what kind of sound you're going for. Keeping "in tune", or playable, depends on the pitch ratio of the 2 oscillators, and most importantly on the FM index (amount). It needs to be kept relatively low on an analog poly synth so the voices don't deviate too much from each other due to component variances. This is why you can get these sounds on the OB-X8 which you mostly couldn't get on an OB-X, because you now have control over the FM amount. With these patches it just took a lot of dialing in. Also, the ability to have full control over oscillator levels is a big game changer, since you can have an unaffected oscillator, and then blend in the FM'd oscillator.
Dear Mr. Polydata. These sound amazing! (In fact, most of your patches do!!!) But I am far from wealthy to be able to afford an OB-X8. Any chance you could do some of these for a VST that is much closer to the budget of the working man? (E.g. synapse's Obsession.... ?)

Soundbank’ 79 is great and these sound incredible.
thank you! 🙏
Inspiring patch bank! Don't have an OB-X8 but I'll keep this video around for next time I'm patching my Minilogue
cool, glad you found it inspiring :)
here's hoping a sequential pro 3 makes it your way sometime soon so that synth can get some polydata lovin'
that would be nice!

Wow how fo you keep things in tune with FM? Hard sync apparently doesnt work here.
