    As a new duck hunter, I will say this was the best clearest description of these simple strategies I have seen, read, or heard so far. Amazing investment of 13 minutes, thank you!

    These spreads work perfect in the beginning of the season but tend to not work as well in the middle or end. The birds get use to seeing them and tend to flair. But as far as the pods configuration that's my all the time go to in my area for both ducks and geese. Great video Josh keep making them very educational for all types of hunters.

    Also, on low wind, sunny days have the ducks come in facing the sun. You'll notice the ducks opposite of the sun commit harder than those who are on the sun side of the decoys. I actually consider the sun more than wind on sunny days. Sun to my back if possible or to my side. Always works. Especially after a cold front.

    Great tips. Personally I don’t use a set pattern. I just place decoys where I DON’T want the ducks to land.

      @@yehudafisher3896 far from it buddy. In my area birds avoid the standard patterns that everybody uses. We just have to be different than standard

  • @FTCMinor

    Thanks for the video. This visual explanation is surprisingly rare even with all the waterfowl content out there. I still have 2 questions. When folks explain spreads and use terms upwind side and downwind side, which is which? And also where do you like to stick spinning-wing decoys in these spreads?

    • @derekchervenka605
      @derekchervenka605 3 года назад +1

      If you stand in a field and walk with the wind you are going downwind. If you walk against it you are going up wind. Spinning decoys I stick just upwind of where I want birds to finish
