- In this adventure, my good friend Marco from OVRLNDX and I take our Jeep Wrangler 392’s that have been built for overlanding and trail adventures out together for the first time. We start our trip in Pioneertown at the iconic Pappy and Harriette’s and then work our way up Burns Canyon in search of higher elevation, cooler temperatures, an epic campsite and some fun off-road trails. Marco cooks up a delicious meal at camp and of course it was amazing!

Marco and Brad back together again. Love it 🤙🏼
You and me both! Such a great friendship and just gets better when they share awesome videos with us!
Me2
I NEED a Marco in my life. Awesome videos guys.
As I am watching this I realize the reason I got hooked years ago is seeing two guys just having a good time and enjoying nature together, hope your busy schedules allow for more of this type of video in different locations. Nice job guys.
"I don't know how long this things going to be around but it'll be in my driveway for a long long time." lol
Gotta admit... As a Midwestern farm boy you lost me at tuna and pineapple tacos but still a great video. Love hearing those 392's!
Finally a good ole fashioned overlanding video on a great trail and Marco cooks up another amazing meal. No product reviews (Except the Jeep talk, but they’re Jeeps it’s ok). Looking forward to the next one already!!!
Great vid! Always enjoy watching you and Marco on your trips.
One tip on the ShiftPod mini…if I may…. I usually place it on the ground, and while “deflated” go inside and while standing in the middle, simply push the frame out for each wall.
Youll construct the tent in 10 seconds or less… and no walking around the outside. Same when folding.. stand in the middle and just start pulling the walls in… then get out before its fully collapsed.
This method was faster and and easier for me, however you’re much taller… but still might be worth a try. 🤙
God bless y'all for your passion for trail etiquette. As much as I enjoy your videos, the fact that you take the time to include the importance of leaving the outdoors better than you found it, and encourage others to do the same, truly makes your channel a step above in my opinion! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Nice work
Thanks
Great video!👍🏻
I really liked the smaller group laid back approach to this video. I would love to see more like this.
Awesome! Thank you!
Marco always amazes me with his unique recipes, I’m drooling right now. As always, very entertaining video.
Ah it's haunted their. It's pretty cool spot
Glad to see you two out again making videos, always a good watch!
Thanks for watching!
Cue Peaches and Herb singing "Reunited"
This is just what I needed after coming back form vacation, watching the 2 of you guys on another great adventure! Those camp neighbors were lucky to hang with you. I was out in the desert one week with my Gladiator and was nearby Pioneertown, although I didn't know it. Sometime this year for sure!
Great to see Brad and Marco back on the trail. Awesome adventure guys. That low rumble of the V8 is music!! The parting view was awesome.
Lift's my spirits seeing new videos, especially with Marco and Brad. Keep it going, please.
Glad you like them!
My Jeep needs the "Marco" mod! Those front runner chairs are pretty nice just have to be carful not to get any sand in the sliding legs.
Awesome episode. Love seeing two friends getting together and having a good time. Makes me miss my buddies even more…I live in FL and they are in NV, OR and WA.
ชอบแค้มป์ปิ้ง มากครับ
I absolutely loved seeing some camp set-up in this vid. That’s something I’ve missed a bit in other adventures. I’m sure it’s much more of a hassle to film set-up with a larger convoy, but I think it’s a great thing to include with smaller groups!
Thanks! I enjoy capturing the small details and make it easy when we get to camp at an early hour like we did on this trip.
Great content. I love you two. You’ve actually inspired me to buy a Jeep and move halfway across the country to Colorado in the past six months. I’ve done some exploring in the Southern Colorado mountains since I’ve been here and found some epic places. If you ever want content of some places probably not seen too often on RUclips I’d love to show you around!! Keep up the great work!
Thank you so much and you are blessed to be in CO with so many amazing places to explore!
I just can’t get over the horrible fuel economy. 4xe is the way to go imo. I have it and it’s def the best Jeep I’ve ever driven.
Great to see Marco on the channel again and I love the 392's but how is the gas mileage on and off road? Are you guys constantly on the lookout for gas stations? I have a Supercharged JKUR on 37's and mileage isn't great. 230 miles i start to worry about gas. My Power Wagon mileage isnt any better but bigger gas tank.
Literally the single most wholesome Jeep channel on RUclips.
Through the lockdowns, whilst my industry of sound, audio and visual was completely cancelled out…. I was able to avoid complete depression by watching this channel, hoping and praying that I was able to get back to building my XJ, and praying that I could somehow afford a JK soon. So now I have my 01 60th Anniversary XJ and my 07 Sahara JK.
Life is improving, and gets better all the more that I watch trail recon.
Thank you and so great to hear you've got a pair of Jeep to be able to get out and have adventures with.
@@TrailRecon folks I think can take your efforts for granted Brad, and you don’t charge anything for your channel, and I’m glad it can still somehow support yourself from it.
Out wee family unit adore watching your adventures with Regina and the boys, and my Vic loves watching Marco…. Even moreso now that he actually isn’t a veggie and isn’t having to make meat for everyone else but not enjoy it himself LOL
Love the dual v8 startups 😍. Second only to Brad taking a signature bite of Marco’s cooking! Thanks for another memorable (virtual) trip!!!
Videos like this is why I started watching Trailrecon…love it!
Glad you enjoy it!
Great video as usual. Where can I buy one of those nice folding wind screen for a fire pit. Looks like a Camp Chef but can't find it online. Thanks
Not sure the manufacture Marco is using, but here is one that is a little more compact: trailrecon.com/kovea-windshield-.html
Hey guys, another great video. But where did Marco get that Camp Chef folding fire pit aluminum wind screen ? I have emailed Camp Chef and they said they never made that, so what gives ? I would love to get one. Thanks
I guarantee If Marco runs for US president he will win with major margins 🎉❤😊
What tires are Marco running? Looks like you're (Brad) on BFGs?
Now if I could only Afford an $80,000 Jeep!
😂😂😂 I know, right? That’s my story too! And I’m gonna sing it loud!!!
I really enjoyed this one, reminds me of your channel back when I first started watching, thanks for sharing :-)
Thank you, so glad you enjoyed it!
Hey Brad. Awesome video as usual bro. Can you please ask Marco what kind of knife he was using in this video..its awesome. The 392s are rad btw. 👌
It was a special knife made by our friend Jordan at Lost Sasquatch
Donde consigo esa cocina que han usado. Saludos desde Perú!
Loved seeing Brad and Marco back together again! Thanks for another great video!
I really enjoyed this video with Marco back on the screen. You two are meant to be together. This makes for a great video!
You two guy's are the coolest!!!!! Thanks for another great adventure...
140k with of jeep ..... and he takes it on a trail. This rubi was made to make its own trail
A great back to your roots video adventure Brad, we need more like this. Wait, what, Marco had a burger??? I thought Marco didn't eat meat.
Let's see if this one lasts more that 6 months in Brad's driveway 🤣.just messing, Awesome video as usual.
LOL! It's a keeper!
Dos 392’s! Hot damn!
Great video thanks to both of you !!! Thanks
Great video. What knife is Marco using? I want one.
Me too. Details please!
It's a custom knife our friend Jordan from Lost Sasquatch made for him.
Awesome to see the both of you guys together again and with the 392's even better !!!!.
Marco and Brad back together, earth is fine now haha! Great video, never skip any seconds of it!
Good to see you both out on the trails . Thanks for the video . Really enjoyed watching
You guys eat better on the trail than I do at home, even on the weekends when I have time to cook.
LOL! Guilty!
Same here! But I will need the recipes for that salsa and the tuna.
I watch your videos since I watched a video from "Epic family" when they did a trail along with you. I am from India, New Delhi. I like your presentation. Keep going. God Bless....
Thank you!
Many loved the AMC V8 in those ole CJs but many also said it was too much power for the narrow width CJ-5 that made them prone to flipping. Just on this video, wow you can hear the aggressive growl of these 392s. And I'm sure in person, it's much better.
Last night, my 2 sons said they heard me coming home from about a half mile away. And I just have an '05 TJ Rocky Mtn 4.0 with a Banks cat back exhaust giving it a stout throaty growl. Don't think my neighbors appreciated it as much as my sons and I do. 😎 I like giving back to my neighbor who has a Roush Mustang. That you can hear from a full mile away! I prefer a throaty growl over being obnoxious any day. Your 392s are the best of both, great power with that aggressive tone of a V8.
Cool video! 👍
Great video, only recently found your channel. I've been wondering if you have much experience/knowledge of upgrades for the gas v6. I have a 2020 gladiator Mojave stock. Wondering about maybe putting in another chip etc...
Great video! I lived in So Cal for years. Now live in Texas. I really miss all of the open area California has for off roading! Thanks for sharing!
Rubicons come in 3.73 gears in the 392? If you Marco had 4.10 I don’t see the need to regear. You almost can’t keep up with the many variations of the new JL.
"This 392 is going to be in my driveway for a long long time. It's hands down my favorite." **sells 392 after 1 year*** I wonder what happened
Just had a good conversation with Doug over at Outback Adventure Products and ordered a trailgater. Super nice fella. I want to carry his products up here in Calgary. Your channel is dangerous for me to watch lol.
Blueberry pancakes camping! Rock Star. Too bad it wasn't a Marco meal, but not! Nice exhaust note Trail Recon.
LOVING the Ricon 392. Had a BMW X5M, sold it because I wanted something more versatile. Bought a 4Runner, sold it because I wanted something more powerful. Now I see Raptors & Rubicons...and I'm leaning towards this 392. Seems like it's the best of both worlds!
😂😂😂😂 I admittedly had four of those tacos!! I would too!! Especially with the pineapple chunks & peanut oil salsa!! 😋
I just hit this trail today thanks to you, in a 2003 Honda Pilot bone stock besides a cooper all terrain tires, my Honda it’s awd, they have some tricky sections for an suv and in some parts of the trail hit my running boards since it’s a stock high, pretty soon I gonna put a lift kit to help me in this situation, overall nice trail
I agree... Brad and Marco adventures are great. We've done Burns Canyon but drove through Pioneer Town. Sounds like we'll have to do it again and stop for lunch. Lovin' the sound of those 392's rumble. Hope to run into you both out on the trail and maybe see you at the Expo in Flagstaff!
Can’t wait for you to drive the Jeep Magneto one day. And recharging with solar panels in 2035 haha let’s see where life takes us
New guy question... why did Marco level the jeep using rocks... does it matter that much that it's level? Why? Sleeping ?
Just for sleeping, getting a good night sleep at camp is valuable and little things like making sure you are level helps.
Love your channel.. but macros cooking has to be off the hook.. and you haven't had a tent in a while on the jeep..what are your plans ? Tent on top or a trailer..?
Those tuna taco's looks unbelievable, I'm having a Blueberry Muffin not the same... 😞
Glad to see you two back together and enjoying the outdoors.
Thank you!
Awesome video my friend those are amazing jeeps smiles from ear to ear both you guys Marco food is awesome until the next video stay safe and have fun👍🏻
Once more, an inspiration! We just visited Pioneer Town and the land around there was at least as amazing as Joshua Tree. Burns Canyon is on our list now. Thanks!
So many great areas out there to explore!
Hey Brad, where did you get the coffee pot? Looks like an old version of a coffee pot from the 1950’s.
@ Trail Recon.. How do you like the ShiftPod tent? I’m looking into purchasing one.
Really cool and informative adventure. Now you guys are ready to take the 392s to the Alaska trip 😁😁.
Would be an epic trip to Alaska with these Jeeps for sure!
I wish a V-8 was an option on every vehicle. Everyone is going to these small 4 and 6 cylinder turbo engines
I wish they would put a bigger engine in the 2 door. I just don’t like the 4 door soccer mom Jeep.
Brad, Do run spacers on your wheels? how does the kM3 handle on and off road? Do you prefer the KO2?
Epic Brother! Totally Epic!!
It was a great weekend brother, can't wait for the next one!
I hate watching marco and brad cook. makes me soooooo hungry. mouth watering
Did you get rid of the camper? I noticed I haven't seen it in a while.
Hey brad, is burns canyon trail to big bear doable on an AWD Stock SUV???
HI BRAD & MARCO 👋
LOVE THE SOUND OF YOUR 392'S , FLOWMASTER OR BORLA EXHAUST ?
BREATHTAKING BEAUTY COLORS VIEWS SCENERY VIDEO WEATHER LANDSCAPE FOOTAGE ! LOVE HOW THE LANDSCAPE CHANGES THE HIGHER UP YOU GO !
WISH WE HAD SMELL A VISION ! SUPPER 🍽 & BREAKFAST 🍽 LOOKED SO GOOD 👍 BE SAFE ! HAVE FUN ! ENJOYED 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 THANK YOU 🙏
ONE MORE QUESTION LT TRUCK TIRES OR TEN PLY / WHICH IS HEAVIER BUT WITH SHARP ROCKS , CACTI , NAILS & SOMETIMES TREE STUMPS / BRANCHES / LOGS , ETC . WHICH DO YOU BOTH RUN ?
I DON'T KNOW WHY WHO EVER DOES THAT THEY DON'T USE MAGNETS TO GET THE NAILS AFTERWARDS 😕
We both have the Magnaflow Exhaust... love it! Thanks!
What is the brand and where did Marco get the windscreen for the firepit, if you don't mind?
Not sure the brand, but we have a similar one: trailrecon.com/kovea-windshield-.html
Looks Kool. Where did Marco get the fire ring shield from? Thanks Panman
Very cool! Thanks for all the great content!
Glad you enjoy it!
If the 392 wasnt an option, which Jeep would be your favorite?
Love the sounds of those 392's! I've eaten at Pappy and Harriet's and had that blackened catfish sandwich and agree it's the best! For chili lovers, theirs is one of the best you'll find. Great video guys.
Oh, I'll have to try the chili next time! Thanks!
you guys are amazing and tell Marco he needs to do an overlanding cookbook. I will buy the first one. I am on the east coast , Florida,. ret NAV. and exploring in my 1989 first half two door 4Runner and have been doing mods to convert for overlanding . Your channel has inspired me to keep exploring.
Thank you! Marco published his first cookbook last year: amzn.to/3xHoWU0
Awesome! I see your back to using the Shiftpod instead of the Gazelle. Why do you like the Shiftpod better? They are about to start the presale for the new version of the Shiftpod mini. I’m trying to figure out if it’s worth the $300 extra price over the Gazelle. Thanks! Keep up the great work!
I like the shiftpod better in windy and cold conditions. The Gazelle has more room and better on those hot nights. Both good tents.
Marco always making me hungry. And I don’t even like tuna😂
Brad does your 392 have the factory Extreme Recon package? Curious because of the non-standard 3.73 gears. How would you imagine a stock 392 with 3.73 gears would do with 37 inch tires? Lots of torque with the big Hemi but Marco seems a bit jealous of your 5.xx gears and is ready to pay $$ for a swap.
Is Marco a secret chef? Cause his dishes are always delicious looking!!
jealous of your rigs and those tacos looked amazing!!
The tacos were sooo good!
I am Shocked, Brad! Shocked, that your preferred Jeep Wrangler is the $80k big block v8 version. LoL. I love Burns Canyon Road. I appreciate your videos, as they are inspiring me to get out there on the trails.
What is that knife that Marco is using while making tuna taco’s ??
I want one !!
Hi, would you please share the brand of the firepit shield. TIA
You mean the "Cactus fire" from all that smoke from ahead of you in Big Bear ?
Lol these 392’s get you guys so happy looking, I see that grin on your face everytime you and Marco say 392.
Brad and Marco I would love to meet up with you both and go do some overlandin! I just bought my first Rubicon ever! I'm still waiting for it to get here. I'm told it's about a month away!!!!
Congratulations! I'm sure you're going to have many great adventures to come! You can also check out Marco on his channel, OVRLNDX.
Finding Yourself in a 356
This is a great video from a guy who lives near pioneer town. His Porsche gets up the mountain, maybe my 2012 2wd Frontier on 32 K02s can do it too. I plan to try. I live in Palm Desert.
I'm curious as to what brand headliner you have installed. Is that HotHeads, or the stock Mopar headliner?
It's the HotHeads, great quality!
Amazing work as always!! Great combo!
Thanks you!
What a blast. I just got a jeep wrangler, and my buddy has a gladiator. We hope to do some camping like this soon!
Granted I wouldn't want to go on an insane trails because its my everyday driver (and its my first big boy purchase gotta keep it nice for a few years)
But I'm sure I can find some great spots in the UP of Mich.
I literally watch this Chanel for recipe ideas. Thanks Marcos!
Absolutely incredible video! You guys make such a great team! And I just have to ask: what is that beautiful blade Marco used for meal prep??
Thank you! The knife was made by our friend Jordan at Lost Sasquatch
@@TrailRecon Thanks very much! It’s a beautiful and seemingly high quality piece!
