It's amazing how hemp oil can help us become independent. Grow it in our pack yard. Take it from soap to shampoo to moisturizer to food. This plant is great for our body.
Good morning Ann Marie, thank you for this recipe. I have a question, isn’t the linolenic suppose to be lower due to DOS? I plugged this recipe in soapcalc and the linolenic is 4 Thank you for your hard work!
Kevin Dunn proved scientifically that at trace, saponification is at 5% finished. Makes no difference if you add any additives at first or at trace. Science ❤️
As it is facial soap, can you please tell me the pH of soap bar. Because we know facial skin is very sensitive higher pH can harsh our facial skin. I ask this question only for clearing my curiosity.
The soapcalc.net calculator will give you a rough idea of the levels in your bars but I heard it’s more of an estimate than fact. Go to the hardware store and grab some pH strips. It’s the only true way you will be able to determine the harshness levels in your bars.
I liked your apron and of course the soap looks so welcoming... After a lot of kitchen work! Does Brambleberry sell lye crystals too? Do you give recipe too if one buys these ingredients?
All of the recipes at the "In The Studio" tab on our website are completely free! You can find them here: www.brambleberry.com/in-the-studio/projects/cold-process And yes, we absolutely sell lye. @@bramble-berry Thank you so much for your reply. Just one more question. Maybe it is a foolish one. Is there anything like readymade lye solution that is available so one can directly use it and not bother about making it in a specific percentage of solution?
@@pooja_2023 No, there is no ready-made lye solution. Every recipe is different and can have different levels of lye added, so it would be very difficult to have a "standard" amount to sell. I love that you put the same shirt back on 2 days later to take the soap out of the mold! Just kidding 🤣🤣🤣🤣 How much aloe vera should be used if it’s not from concentrate?
Yes it will. I make CBD soap all the time. I use DISTILLATE in my recipes. My recipe make 10 bars so I add 1 gram of distillate to my oils for 100 mg in each bar. My recipe also cures in 2 weeks.

Babassu Oil: www.brambleberry.com/shop-by-product/ingredients/oils/babassu-oil/V000577.html
Yes it can, but not at a 1:1 ratio usually. With this recipe, we'd recommend a maximum of 15% mango butter (3.3 ounces) and add 5% babassu oil (1.1 ounces) to fill in the rest of the oil. Whenever you change your oils, make sure to run your recipe through our lye calculator again so you are ensuring that you get the safe amount of lye in your soap. Hi Ann Marie! I am trying to get away from Palm Oil so I have been using lard instead. Would lard be a good substitute for palm oil in this recipe? Thanks so much! Your videos is what got me into soap making SEVEN years ago and I still absolutely LOVE IT ♥:)Thank you!
Lard isn’t at all identical or ever would be a one to one replacement as it has a lot more stearic acid and much less of palmitic acid. Lard is also a lather killer if you use a large amount which you kind of have to, to get the same hardness as the palm oil. Palm also has a lot more oleic acid than lard. So all in all lard is not a great replacement oil for palm oil. You can use tallow, which again would be so much more stearic acid than palm but hardness is similar. When you’re making facial soap you really don’t want stearic acid rich soap as it produces soap scum more than without. Palm and coconut oil combined also produces a lot more lather. There’s a reason why palm and coconut oil are combined along with other oils. Try using sustainably produced palm if you are worried about it. Honestly the number of people consuming snacks and pies made of crisco and palm based snacks in the US and Europe, you not using palm wouldn’t make a difference. Palm by nature is not a bad oil. It’s the western giant corporations that abuse the developing poorer countries and exploit them, which contributes to many problems. I use palm. I’ve been making soaps for 20+ years. There’s no other oils that can ever win. And using butters and such contribute to more problems than palm such as deforestation and much more carbon foot print as they come from Africa and they’re not cheap.
If you are concerned about mixing your lye solution in a solid glass container we have also had no issues with HDPE plastic and stainless steel containers.
If you're just using hemp seed oil, you do not need any difference insurance. As for using CBD oil, you want to check with your local laws to make sure it's allowed. For more information on business insurance, you can read this article: www.brambleberry.com/articles/small-business/art0145-business-insurance.html For information on using CBD in your products, you can read this article: www.brambleberry.com/articles/ingredient-information/art0096-cbd.html

Making and selling hemp is different than making and selling products with hempseed oil. I’m assuming you mean the latter. The answer is no since hempseed oil is not illegal in any way in the US and most places and is sold at most health food stores.
@@stancexpunks Thanks! I call the agriculture in Florida and boy they are a hot mess. Not an actual hemp plant itself (I am not the one that is farming).
Looks great and thank you for sharing Anne-Marie. I'm thinking of making it but I have a question. Can I use Aloe Vera juice in place of water and Aloe Vera powder instead of spinach powder?
You probably can use the juice in place of water, but since it likely has natural sugars (similar to beer), you can scorch your juice in the lye. We recommend refrigerating the liquid before mixing it with your lye. The powder should work as well! Whenever you're making changes like this to your recipe, make sure you make a small test batch first to see if you're happy with the results.

The best advice for acne should come from your dermatologist.
