@@HewWagner I see... ugh I must have been blinded because this library upsets me. Came half a year too late and now I have not money for it anymore. Ty for the expl. though
So, BBCSO (the game changer) has been abandoned now has it? I know Maida Vale was due to be closed, so I don't know if it still exists or not. But I assumed, wrongly, that they may have produced a muted brass section recorded in addition to BBCSO, as well as a few other articulations, rather than produce another bloody game changer.
I wish it were possible to only download the mics you needed. Going into the file system to manually delete mics is a real pain. And I never use anything but the mix and maybe the close mics.
Sure, or offer the individual instruments, like OT does with their SINE engine. That's where it's at. Spitfire puts everything on sound quality and big names, but substantively?
I wouldn’t necessarily have expected legato patches, as the sections are arranged combinations of instruments, rather than individual instrument groups? (Except for the trumpets and horns which are individual - I hope at some point there are legato patches to go with those.)
I think what OP means is, why aren't there legato patches in addition to the sections? At this price point, most competitors (Audio Imperia Nucleus, Sonuscore The Orchestra Complete 2, etc) have legato soloists IN ADDITION to their pre-orchestrated sections.
@@XiyuYang To be fair, the legatos in Albion One aren't comprehensive over the whole orchestra (like for the brass you get two sets of octaves and one mid patch). They're great, but only useful in specific circumstances. This new library seems to have more detail in the core orchestral content - i.e. the ensemble patches which is what this library is about. I think if I were choosing today, between the two, I'd go for Abbey Road One partly because of that? I say that as someone who uses Albion One *a lot* Also, it depends if you're after an all-in-one package, or if you're pairing this library with one that isn't based on ensembles (Like BBCSO or EW Hollywood Orchestra or whatever). In my instance, because I have legatos from other sources, I don't need this to come with legatos by default. The ensemble patches are what I'm after in this instance. Talking about price, you may get more bang for your buck with Nucleus compared to this, but this is still quite competitively priced if you compare it to a lot of what else is out there (Cinesamples, Orchestral Tools, Vienna Symphonic Library etc.).
I hear a big difference to Albion. The dynamics and tonal range and timbral alternatives are more impressive. However, I would like some of the issues in BBCSO sorted out and perhaps some further patches available.
So this is like the orchestral part of Albion One, but recorded in Abbey Road so not as insanely reverberant? Seems like a good idea, shame it's not a Kontakt library.
Paul, your walkthru is wonderful. When you switched between shorts on the trumpets, I got chills. This might be Spitfire's triumph deluxe with AB product range. And that says a lot since BBCSO is one of my most used libraries. My only criticism is i have almost 2 weeks to wait to get my hands on this!!! LOL.
0:34 please, hold on a second! With the BBCSO I thought you promised it to be a start of something to be expanded too. I was waiting for the brass sections with mutes and such - they never came out. Now this, don't get me wrong, it sounds great, but I really wonder if we can trust you guys in terms of whether you're really going to elaborate on this, by continuation of extra recording sessions in order to develop more stuff for us, the consumer. I really wonder, certainly after the West World Scoring debacle. We'll never forget that one . . . a huge mistake. I want to invest in promising stuff but I don't want to end up on a road with a dead end again. You'll probably not respond to this message - but I really hope that you'll take this serious this time. For us around 400 bucks is sometimes serious money while for you it must mean hardly anything.
Well, they released a video of a demo of Andy Blaney during blackweekend. That video has a future update for the BBC SO. I don't know what to expect, but It's something I guess. Anyways, I'm still waiting for my muted brass in BBCSO.
The money is justified in the musician's and engineering work. I still fully agree on what I available on add-ons. I have abbey road one. It definitely needs more... But I think it's cheap for what you get...
I think with this range, Albion and the BBC there is quite a variety of different sounds but Spitfire will need to differentiate clearly on the website as it will be very confusing for a newbie. I guess this range has a more blockbuster sound for want of a better word. (This does sound great though)
Finally some really great cymbals from Spitfire! The short brass is exceptional, too. The glock is magic. The strings are not as realistic as BBC SO. But maybe that's down to the high/low mixes. Hopefully, when the individual parts are released, they'll up the game there.
I wish I was starting now and I don't have any library to buy this one. For what I've heard, it's my favourite. However, I think that in other to make this one a true "all in one" library, you should've included PIANO and HARP sounds. But this one is closer than Albion One, as you have true orchestral percussion. I like how the woodwinds sound more "flute-like" than in Albion One. And all the instruments in general sound really good. So you've done a very great job! Unlucky me, I already have a lot of the Air Studio One libraries and I don't have a lot of money for this. In any case, great job and I wish in a future I can afford this one, as it seems to be a great deal! The only other thing I wish is that you don't forget about the other libraries (the Air Studio and the Maida Vale ones).
Timpanis are not loading. Will we see an update on this sometime soon?

This is more like "all Albion's One instruments, but with Abbey Road 's room reverb" ? Well it may have a lovely sound, like all the libraries you've made before, but...
I don't understand, why You gave this sketching tool 5 dynamic layers (which is cool), but the professional BBCSO Pro only 3 (not cool). Shouldn't it be at least vice versa?
The "sound" of an orchestral library doesn't mean much if you don't have all the articulations and playability that you need to make convincing music. Vienna nail this aspect. I'm just not sure Spitfire put enough time into their playability and realism.
As nice as this sounds, I'm not sure really what this offers than I can't already get with BBC Core. In fact BBC Core offers far more flexibility and precision than what's being shown here. Unless you specially need to replicate that Abbey Road sound I'm not really sure who this is meant to appeal to.
I've replicated all the sounds in BBCSO Pro. The problem is the orchestra patches can't handle that many patches playing in unison on my computer. No idea why - it's on SSD, running 64 gb. The free Palette brass patch from Red Room Audio works as a nice replacement for the brass, and originals epic woodwinds fills in for the woodwinds, for the orchestral patches.
Well, while you are creating library projects with extraordinary brand names like Abbey Road and BBC... Performance Samples on the other hand, with the "Vista" project, is building original extraordinary tools that we actually need and use. Did you happen to listen to Vista's legato passages? Are n't you jealous? I mean as a leading brand in the industry...?
@@II-jv9yx Don't think so... It's just Strings I believe but the programming is so promising that I think they will migrate it to the whole orchestral spectrum, maybe including Choir too.
This is very true, mostly because PS sources their samples from real performances (not just the legatos) anyway, the new Vista 2 demos sound just like the real thing it's crazy
Hello SPITFIRE! My name is Ruslan, I am writing to you from Kazakhstan. Of course everything is fine! I love you very much, but one cannot help feeling that you are producing the same products under the same sauce. I don’t see a SPECIAL, fundamental difference between Albion ONE and, say, the same BBC Symphony Orchestra, or ABEY ROAD ONE and Others .... Some reiteration and reiteration ... But I emphasize, I adore you! (On Russian) Привет SPITFIRE!
I was all in when I listened to the strings and brass, but when I heard the high woodwinds I was just "no, no, no, no." They sound lumped together and like a synth patch. For the wood winds I really would not want them lumped together. In fact, I really would like them soloed. Now you say I can buy extensions later. But what extensions? "We have things planned" would imply to me that you know. But you don't tell me. Your FAQ doesn't tell me. That's a big ask to buy this and not know where it goes either. [EDIT: PS - I sound a bit too harsh! I'm still grateful for the walkthrough, it was helpful to form an opinion, and while marketing is marketing, I still appreciate the effort.]
Sounds awesome I have BBC SO professional trying to decided if I also need this, though I know it's a different sound. Good video though Paul thanks, you explain things very well. Take care stay safe
@@MamaSymphonia oh right pleased it's not just me then. I love the sound of the BBC SO, and it great to be able to play the instruments separately , but sometimes sections can work really well too
I honestly wouldn't recommend this new orchestra to the both of you. Especially after considering the price you paid for the professional one, it's not exactly cheap.
I pair BBCSO Core with Albion One (which is divided into sections in a similar way to this) and it’s really useful as it allows me to write in sections as well as individual instruments. Like for example, I’ll often write string parts with two hands using the strings patch in Albion One, and then work out how I’m dividing the parts into individual sections using BBCSO... or just leave it with Albion One as that does give a different colour... or some combination of the two.
Maybe with long notes it can sound legato. Even Originals instruments, knowing what you are doing, can sound like a legato. But the key is to use long notes in a really fast passage with short notes. There is where the legato shines the most and the long patch sounds ugly.
For a newby like me. When I use the ensemble mode , can I change the amount and Loudness of certain instruments. I installed it a few minutes ago and in the ensemble mode I almost nearly hear brasses.
The one thing everyone uses; isn’t available on this software? What’s the point? Legato is vital. The lack of inclusion makes this software a very poor idea.
This is an underwhelming library for the (introductory) price. I wish Daniel James did his review sooner than I bought it. I would have saved this chunk for another library.
Hi Paul, thank you again for a great walkthrough. Quick question: How is Abbey Road One different to Albion One? What does Abbey Road One offer that Albion One doesn’t? Thank you in advance.
People put too much stock in performance legato. I scored plenty of indie films back in the day with EWQLSO which had no true legato patches. Legato transitions are nice little detail, but surely not make or break in my opinion. When i saw the email from Spitfire, i went to the Abbey Road One page, and just listened to the Demos without looking at any of the details whatsoever. I wanted to just listen without thinking about price point, or anything. I listened , and i thought, WOW. That sounds fantastic! I certainly didn't think "Hey, i dont hear any legato transitions!!" And i seriously doubt the film director would miss then either. LOL If you can't make this library sound incredible, then your problems span beyond lack of true legato patches. I'm willing to bet that most of the "complainers" are people that sit around waiting for the next product to come out that they can whine about, and have never actually scored a film. You won't hear complaints from real live working composers.
Huge fan of Spitfire Audio generally, but Abbey Road has been the one major disappointment. It's sad, because the idea is great and I'm sure the intention was good and the effort considerable. But one needs to be as honest in one's criticism as one is generous in one's praise.
spitfire makes good sounding plugins but to many and to less custumer support, plugin support and so on.... greedy af ...plus then you can pre order libaries without have to ability to sell it if you are not happy with it...also for 800 euro libaries
i have an important question, i've heard that these sounds need an extremely strong system to load properly especially if you load multiple instances for a project and i'm worried that my pc would not be able to handle them. My specs are AMD Ryzen 3 1200 Quad-Core Processor 3.10 GHz, 8 Go RAM, SSD disc C: , a scarlett focusrite external sound card and a Nvidia 1080 ti graphics card. I'd be eternally grateful if anyone was able to answer my question, thank you!
8G RAM is not gonna work, for this to work you need at least 16G, to have a somewhat fluid workflow, you're looking at 32G. Sample libraries don't have that high a demand for processors - then again since you're producing music, you definitely need good ones. I'm not sure how yours stack up against i9, but quad core is the least you could get away with.
The sounds are okay for ostinato and trailer music writing. For melodies it doesn't sound great. The lack of legato really limits how you can realistically use this library. At $450 it's a tough sell for me.
ah yes, another "brand new" library made up with samples from previously released libraries. at spitfire there's more work put into making a new UI than actual sounds.

Hi! I'm from the future. they recorded a muted brass section :-) (and fixed the bloody awful solo French horn)
The woodwinds are nice, but whoever did those prearranged woodwinds in Albion One is a god and cannot be beaten.
So true, favorite part of Albion One for me by a wide margin.
So, if I understand this correctly - Abbey Road One is like BBC SO Discover but with more microphones settings and mixes, yes?
BBCSO has individual instruments sections, so not quite. this is similar to an Albion but focusing on the orchestra
Agreed, most people want to compose, not figure out mics. If they offered more accessibility it would be a lot better.
I have BBCSO Pro and SSO. I like the percussion in this library, but not enough to buy it. I think I'll be skipping this one.
Wow, no legato patches?
Bold move Spitfire, bold move.
@@HewWagner I mean, albion one is arranged and it has legato patches, so that shouldn't be an excuse
They're following Apple's pricing and marketing. Give us less and raise the price. Next is $99 bucks for the player.
I say that as someone who uses Albion One *a lot*
Also, it depends if you're after an all-in-one package, or if you're pairing this library with one that isn't based on ensembles (Like BBCSO or EW Hollywood Orchestra or whatever).
For someone purchasing their first all-on-one library, is there any point in getting this over Albion One, BBCSO Core, or Audio Imperia Nucleus?
So this is like the orchestral part of Albion One, but recorded in Abbey Road so not as insanely reverberant? Seems like a good idea, shame it's not a Kontakt library.
I think their own plugin is way better. In Kontakt everything is just way too small.
You can use it in Kontakt if you want...
@@Reactor10k No, you absolutely can *not* use it in Kontakt.
@@Justin.Franks Have I got that wrong? Am I thinking of Komplete Kontrol?
Why do you want to use it in Kontakt? Benefits?
The mutes are out 🤌🤌
I’m waiting for a long comment from you regarding “ thank you spitfire “
The money is justified in the musician's and engineering work.
I still fully agree on what I available on add-ons.
I have abbey road one. It definitely needs more...
But I think it's cheap for what you get...
I got it, is amazing!!!
the abbey road one plug-in and all other products from spitfire does it work with Apple M1?
Yes! Even with only 8 GB of RAM. :)
Finally a bright and full Spitfire Brass
Much appreciated ) brilliant ) great dynamics , but only sections ? No individual winds horns brass etc ?/
It doesn't have legato..?
I think with this range, Albion and the BBC there is quite a variety of different sounds but Spitfire will need to differentiate clearly on the website as it will be very confusing for a newbie. I guess this range has a more blockbuster sound for want of a better word. (This does sound great though)
Are they the same players and room as the iron man 3 soundtrack? What have they done with the horns?
Dont know what I love more: this library or the Vivian Westwood Shirt
Can you do trumpet falls on this?
Nice!
Hello , somebody known if the plug in have a "Purge samples" fonction , as Kontakt ?
Finally some really great cymbals from Spitfire! The short brass is exceptional, too. The glock is magic. The strings are not as realistic as BBC SO. But maybe that's down to the high/low mixes. Hopefully, when the individual parts are released, they'll up the game there.
Incredible, it sounds sooooo good!
Instant buy if I knew the addons would be a Flautando pack. Flautando legato, trill, tremolo.. everything flautando
Well it may have a lovely sound, like all the libraries you've made before, but...
does anybody know what his piano controller is in this video?
Mind blowing .T'is an amazement what you're doing .
Grasias .

You're drivin all us crazy with a different library release every week!! BBC, Abbey Road... anyway, sounding phatt and really good!
LOVE THOMPSON WALKTROUGH
Dynamic range is better then in Albion and BBC SO. Great product but Im thinking what now feel buyers of BBC SO PRO ...
Is there a way to adjust the attack rate?
Spitfire Audio I you people should come out with anther choir I cheaper version.just an idea maybe originals choir.

Но я подчеркиваю я Вас - ОБОЖАЮ!
i seee the same.

I'm in the same exact spot
@@HewWagner Yeah, having multiple Spitfire Audio libraries leads to deadly combos. 😆
It doesn't have true legato, but sounds legato. Can someone explain about it?
I wonder if I missing something here.
Maybe with long notes it can sound legato. Even Originals instruments, knowing what you are doing, can sound like a legato. But the key is to use long notes in a really fast passage with short notes. There is where the legato shines the most and the long patch sounds ugly.
When I use the strings , i use con sordino for the low strings and longs for high strings , and that gives a real nice legato feel to it
Can somebody tell me what software theyre using and some more details? Cheers!
By software you mean sampler or daw? If DAW, Paul mostly uses Logic pro x. Or if sampler, none. This is their own plugin, NO kontakt

The lack of inclusion makes this software a very poor idea.
is BBCSO better ?
@@II-jv9yx Core has legato, Discover does not.

i certainly hope this is a sick joke.
Hi Paul, thank you again for a great walkthrough. Quick question: How is Abbey Road One different to Albion One? What does Abbey Road One offer that Albion One doesn’t? Thank you in advance.
Clarity, dynamics, room
Ohhh really………
👍🏾
Even without legato, Albion One sounds enough.
How does this compare with BBCSO?
I think the biggest difference is that in BBCSO you get all the orchestral instruments individually, but here you get combined section patches.
It doesn't, two different concepts.
@@HewWagner Yep, I've seen people saying that Abbey One can be good to use along BBCSO because the room are kinda the same, not like Air Studios.
Who's Mike Signals?
Spitfire Audio milking us money with much of the same (just another sample library. 🥕 Carrot dangling is now called "recorded in Abbey Road")
Huge fan of Spitfire Audio generally, but Abbey Road has been the one major disappointment. It's sad, because the idea is great and I'm sure the intention was good and the effort considerable. But one needs to be as honest in one's criticism as one is generous in one's praise.

Damn guys. I'm out of money, And Hard drive
i have an important question, i've heard that these sounds need an extremely strong system to load properly especially if you load multiple instances for a project and i'm worried that my pc would not be able to handle them.
@@XiyuYang thank you for your answer, i upgraded my CPU to 6 cores 3.60 GHz and my memory to 32GB i hope that will do it!
Elliott Smith sent me.
You have to be mighty miserable to dislike this video. These sounds are amazing
The sounds are okay for ostinato and trailer music writing. For melodies it doesn't sound great. The lack of legato really limits how you can realistically use this library. At $450 it's a tough sell for me.
