Disappointed to find out that the thinkspace courses you promote so heavily doesn’t actually include individual lessons or tutorials from you. Only video content. I had bought violins 1 and cellos and was waiting for the rest. Their customer service wouldn’t give an ETA for the rest. I kind of had to buy VSL duality strings instead, and oh my, they are so much better. Same sound, more mics, more articulations, more control on the patches, lighter on the machine. Great sound from ARO, but the limited articulations and demand on resources makes them a frustrating library to work with.

Really good lower cost string libraries: 8Dio Anthology Strings, 8Dio Century Strings, Nashville Scoring Strings, Spitfire Studio Strings, the list goes on an on. I really think what you're paying for here is the brand name and room, but how much of a difference is there really? So if you can afford this, by all means get it. But if you can't, there are a lot of really great lower cost alternatives.

I bought the new strings. They actually sound very nice. Unfortunately, it quickly turns out that they are very inflexible. The reverb is too long for me. So you have to mix different microphones. This even overloads my Power MAC. I also have the VSL Duality Strings, which sound at least as good. The advantage of the VSL is the shorter reverb and the almost unlimited programming options. I have programmed my own legato patches, which offer even more flexibility.

Problem is that the revamped Spitfire SO recorded in Air Lindhurst offers arguably more for the money. The newly programmed performance patches for Kontakt are a joy to play, and have no issue with fast runs. It seems AR strings need more optimisation, not to mention the boring Spitfire player.

What's interesting Is Guy pointing out the voice count (which is high) it's definitely memory heavy, but on an M3 Max in Cubase you don't get any performance Peak at all even while playing live at 128buffer , much less than BBC Violin 1 ! and if you compare this to the SA Total performance patches in Kontakt which have massive CPU spikes (while playing live) this wins hands down , some how its very CPU light!

Sounds fabulous. Do I really need more strings? I have Spitfire Symphonic and Chamber Strings, Appassionata strings and others that I don't use much like those on Ark 1 and 8dio ostinato strings. The answer is yes! But not right now. I have my eye on OT's Peteris Vasks strings which is a gorgeous sounding chamber string section recorded in a Latvian church. VERY reverberant but also has close mics for a dryer sound, and has lots of articulations including interesting ones like slides. A different beast altogether, serving a different purpose from Abbey Road though. Would be great to have both but need to curb my library purchasing habit! Getting expensive!

The intro price is £1k, the real price is £1500 I really don't understand how Spitfire put the tag on their products. It's ridiculously over priced. And why should I pay £1500 for another Strings library which is not much better than the others. I purchased all the Berlin series around £1k last Black Friday, I received all the Berlins (think 6 Libraries in total) with tons of Articulation.
And I know this truth that Spitfire only releases a library which is not complete yet and instead of finishing, leaving it and goes to the next one. We can see this truth in HZ Strings or BBC SO.
IMO Sine is damn lot better than Spitfire player, the Mic Merging function in Sine is completely in a different league. I love Spitfire but seems they've got so greedy in recent years.

So, as everybody has probably discovered with one new library or another from various companies, this one, you're saying, you'll almost certainly going to have to buy new faster and or larger drive for this. I assume you moved the previous strings from this new Spitfire AR over to that drive too? If so, how smoothly did spitfire handle that? Some companies if you have to delete and move libraries to make room for upgrades it can royally mess up previous projects. I have had spitfire get confused over where my LABS are, though now they have a whole new way of handling LABS, which might be a new Guy video at some point.

@@CampbellDownie I don't want anything to do with subscription software. I've had any number of people/RUclipsrs quote the EastWest subscription as being cheap at just $20 a month. Excuse me? That's actually $36 per month by the time it arrives on my credit card bill - ouch! It doesn't take a mathematician to know that that VERY quickly adds up. I bought BBCSO Core two years ago for what it would cost me for 13 months subscription at $36 per month. And it's mine to use until kingdom come - and doesn't require an Internet connection to work (my Music PC is offline, and I'd prefer it stayed that way).

Ironically, Spitfire shouldn't have collaborated with a third-party brand to make a next-generation flagship library. Big names such as "Abbey Road" overshadow the prioritizing of utility and performance. A "generic" library that could handle complex compositions would speak for itself. AROSS is constrained not only by marketing, but by the unsophisticated music tastes of Spitfire themselves.

Highest transfer rate and the most lanes - USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 = 10 Gbps. USB4 Gen 3×2 = 20 Gbps. Make sure not to use a hub, go to direct to the motherboard. Make sure each USB drive has a dedicated host controller, or you will be dividing the available transfer speed by the number of connected drives.
