    How has aging felt for you? What is some advice you would offer to others on getting older? Everyone has a different perspective and I know my audience is extremely varied in age. If you feel comfortable, share your thoughts and feelings as a response to this comment. I look forward to reading everyone's responses. ❤️

      This is not related but I think you are incorrect about your sun sign. Because my bday is 29th of June and I am a Cancer. If you were born on 3rd/4th of July you should be a Cancer as well not a Gemini 💖

      As I'm getting older I'm more and more in my body and anchored in reality. It feels really good. I've always felt like I was floating around and could not really connect with what surrounded me. Doing exercises, drawing, creating help me on a daily basis to achieve this feeling of connection. I'm less and less in PTSD states and I know how to accept all of my emotions and my anxiety. Thank you so much for the space that you create Julia. I've been following you for one year now and I really appreciate coming back to it. Lots of love

      I’m 22.5, and since I turned 20, time has just been moving faster than ever. It genuinely scares me. My therapist said it’s probably me just changing my perspective as I age, but it scares the shit outta me. It feels like there’s no time to prioritize myself and have enough time to enjoy life.

    Not to fangirl here but you have been a huge influence in changing the way I've thought about leaving my 20s and entering my 30s. I'm 25 and started getting scared thinking my twenties are supposed to be the best years of my life and they're already half over and what if I'm wasting them? But you make 30 look SO cool. You're always growing and learning and exploring, always on Instagram dancing, never trying to be something you're not... it's making me look forward to getting older and understanding myself more.

      Don’t!! I’m the same age, turning 26 in a few weeks and I always wanted to be in my thirties. Every older woman in my life said their thirties and forties were the best in their life. Their careers were in full swing, their marriages were usually solid and they had the $ to have fun and travel! :)

    • @LibrariansWife
      @LibrariansWife 5 лет назад +26

      Amanda Leah my thought exactly, people are too obsessed with age these days. I’m 45 and I feel great both in body and mind. I know women (for some reason it’s always women who goes crazy over aging) who are in their early 20’s and they talk about getting botox to get rid of the tiny wrinkles around their eyes. I got very few wrinkles, and it’s NOT due to me injecting poison into my face, I have just stayed out of the sun for most of my adult life, it’s as simple as that. Relax, love yourself, eat healthy and you’ll be fine.

    When i turned 50 i felt like my life would be over. The birthday came and went . . . and i felt the same as when i was 49! Its just a number, believe me, im still 17 in my mind. The thing i will say though, is that life passes by so quickly. I don't know how the years have flown by so quickly, so . . . make sure you live every moment, make memories. Log memories ( photos, vids etc) Im now starting to worry about dying (yes) and feel like i should make memories for my husband when i am gone! Every moment is precious. It goes by so quickly. Make sure you live it ❤

    • @christophersz
      @christophersz 5 лет назад +7

      Tokyo Rose Hello, you are so right about being 17 in your mind, it seems to me we all stop at a mental age at some point, mentally I feel 25, unfortunately my mind thinks my body is 17 with the stupid things it thinks I can and do do, but the fact is I’m 52 and I don’t know how I got here, it seems to have happened so fast. Make all the memories you can, put yourself in the pictures, make sure you’re together, tomorrow’s are never promised. I lost my wife of 27 years last February and I would give anything just to see her one more time. Julia there are chapters to your life that you can’t imagine, things that haven’t happened yet that will change your life in wonderful ways just wait and see. And if one day you do decide to become a mother just know this you’ll be a great one.

      @@christophersz I am so sorry you lost your wife. We are at that really strange age where you suddenly realise your friends are dying one by one. To lose a partner of over 27 years is just heartbreaking. The years fly by so quickly you don't even realise you are aging! You know what i mean about memories being important. Again, i am so sorry for your loss ❤

    I'm turning 26 in a month and as stupid as it sounds, 25 hit me so hard last year. I've recently become obsessed in my fear of aging and feeling like I'm wasting my 20s being depressed, etc. I LOVE seeing people thriving in their 30s and 40s... gives me hope that the best is yet to come.

      Hey. I posted a comment earlier about how I am 19 going on 20 this November. And I am excited but nervous about fulfilling my purpose and my goals. I'm taking it one day at atime..something I've learned though is that everything is completely up to you and your divine timing. And you can create the life you desire to live through your thoughts and actions. So I hope that the depression funk goes away for you so that your not creating it in life. I heard 26 is a very fun time lol

My 30’s were better than my 20’s. It’s up to you to make your life great. Choose happiness and sanity. That’s what I would tell my younger self lol

    Reporting from the sixth decade of life. Everyone is on their own path, but the best things I did in my 30's: get super super fit and healthy; this carries you theough the, um, changes 😜 in decades to come. I'm also grateful for having had babies in my very early 30s; the body is resilient, energy levels are high for active, fun parenting, and it allows for a delightful renaissance, both personal and in your relationship in your 50s, when, if you're lucky you still feel young ❤

  • @JenDoe1
    @JenDoe1 5 лет назад +26

    I love your outlook Julia. I’m 42 and I can say that when I was in my 20’s I was so scared of going into my 30’s. During my 30’s I had the best time of my life, I felt better about me - how I looked, how I felt and I started to not care what other people thought. I became truly comfortable in my own skin. Time seems to pass by faster and faster as we get older so really being in the moment, being present, and taking all that happens as a lesson in life is so important. Life is truly what you make it. Happy belated birthday! ☺️🎉

    I just turned 33 I've got a 10 month old and a husband whom are my absolute life. My advice would be to just be present and in the moment even if it's so small. Don't sweat anything in life because tomorrow is never promised and yesterday is the past. Everyone is beautiful in their own right and you owe it to yourself to create your own path and story. Don't be affraid yet don't be too cautious. Mostly never regret anything because your choices have made you you. Always remember that you are deeply loved and and appreciated and to always walk your own path cos noone can walk it for you.

    Turning 25 was the hardest EVER. It’s the first year I’ve ever had to truly think about aging and being too old for certain people, activities, bars, etc. a lot of people in my life are marrying and having children and me on the other hand, leaving a long term relationship and essentially starting over, it’s been a full quarter life crisis this year for me!! But as the months go by I am more accepting and calm about it. I don’t want to waste any time because as you say it’s so fleeting and precious!! Not in the serious women’s movement way (although I do unfortunately have relation to that too), but as in, wow, its like watching myself at the age you are. I was making similar vlogs about nearly identical subjects during the same points in life. I have one driving around on my bday you reminded me of and brought up some cook memories. It alsolooks like you drive the same model BMW I used to own and love. And most importantly your favorite place is in my locale. I grew up in Santa Barbara and still live here. Watching your drive up the 154 was like ahhhhh, I love that drive. And the Madonna Inn, yasss.

      Lauren Hansen it’s actually a really cheap electric razor and it’s amazing. I also have a straight razor but I use the electric one when it suits me and it’s been great. I’ve been using it for a few years and would recommend it! www.amazon.com/dp/B0018A32XS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_ZlzgDbXKXXA9X

    My father has always rounded it up when January 1 comes. His birthday isn't until August. So he has considered himself 98 since Jan. He tries it on me but I don't go along with it. lol! I will be 67 in September and I am the same person I was at 27, personality wise. Health wise I have some medical issues and a few creaky joints but I'm hanging in there. I am my father's only caregiver but he is not a problem. I felt my age a bit when I retired from 33 years of teaching. I think teaching kept me young because there was never a dull moment. After 7 years of retirement, I still miss it. My advice to everyone: Live everyday to its fullest. Don't limit yourself because you think that's something you shouldn't do at a particular age. And finally, keep looking forward. Don't live in the past.

    I’m turning 22 in a few weeks and to be honest every since turning 18 for me, I haven’t felt any different. I don’t feel 21 however that is supposed to feel like anyway to someone. I really just feel like I’m living and have made it another year and that’s something to celebrate. I’m curious to see how that could change in the future but I hope I keep this mentality of it. People around me make age a big deal which is probably why I really don’t. When you were talking about how you feel more attractive and prettier I saw how you genuinely meant it with full confidence without hesitation. It’s rare to see someone give themselves a genuine compliment without dismissing it with a joke or brushing it off. Thanks for being you Julia, happy belated birthday you bad ass woman!!!!

I actually felt my brain fall into place when it finished the maturity process when I ended 24, and I’m way more chill, calm and happy then before :) I’ll be 26 soon and I’m happy about it actually. I’m closer to creating the life I want (grad school and $ to travel way more haha).

    I will be 30 in 58 days! I thought by 30 I would be content and sure of my life choices! I feel more confused than when I was 20! I question everything now from religion, beliefs, stance, ethics, life and daily chores! Back when I was 20, I saw everything as black and white; now people and things are no longer divided by the binary of black and white! However, I am happy that I enter my 30s as a financially independent woman able to rely on herself!

    hahaha I am watching Nick sprawled in front of the fireplace and just laughing away with you guys, what a cool tradition and I am "digging" the whole place, how fun! I love it! My thoughts on aging on a separate entry. For me the scary year was 29, and that was because I was young and naive :D your closing statement is so true, you are very wise for such a young person, you are very lucky! For my birthday this year I asked for an Ancestry.com kit, have you ever thought about doing it? Even if you know your parents heritage, there is that of their ancestors. Just thought I'd mention it!

    Firstly: Happy Birthday!
    Secondly: Getting older has been...weird. I smoked, drank, did some drugs in my teens and early twenties, all while being very physically active with running, hiking, etc.; I slowed down with the drinking/drugging in my late 20s-early 30s. Quit all of that in my mid-thirties when I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder that has pretty much taken over my life. I don't regret the drinking/etc., so much as I do the time wasted on a lot of the people I surrounded myself with back then. Those things and those people also led, in part, to my dropping out of college -- which I very much regret.
    I'll be 40 in just under 2 months and am slowly getting my health back together, but the whole "I'm about to be 40" thing is daunting. I'm reevaluating everything in my life at this point, and it's not fun. Trying to remember that I can't change the past and can only move forward, and that is not always easy. My family has become much more important to me in recent years, I've become less afraid of what people think of me, and at this very second I'm looking forward to 40. I'll probably change back to dreading it by morning, but I'm okay with that. :-)

    Fun fact I worked for the actual production place that makes the coconut cult yogurt and I literally HatEd working there. The cleaning and business ethics they used were intense and strange it was literally business just opened up by a bunch of college kids and I think they were just using this old lady’s money :/ they had this crazy strike system if you broke a glass :( and they had “blenders” and just handy people and the blenders literally just made the yogurt and the handy people like me did all the other hard work the dishes the pouring the mechanical mixing . It was not a great system :/ so glad you liked my hometown! Other than my small rant

      Wow so crazy! I won't lie, I had a change of heart and actually love the yogurt now... I have been eating a few spoonfuls every day. I'm not down with any form of cruel punishment at work though and not happy to hear that staff was penalized for accidents. It's really interesting to hear about your experience though and I hope you found a new job that feels more fulfilling to you. ❤️

      itsblitzzz you answer with such grace and genuine kindness and concern :) it’s so refreshing!!! Yes I have found a better work environment and hopefully that businesses has changed and grown as well . It’s sooo expensive and a lil too chunky for my taste. I think they were so strict about glass breaking because it’s a really tiny work space and they probably don’t wanna get sued if glass gets into the mix

    I will be 39 this month and it's incredibly surreal. There are so many feelings I have about it and honestly, it's been difficult too because my life has not gone the way I planned, my story does not look like everyone else's or even the majority & if I'm completely transparent, it led to a serious depression; not aging per say but accepting my story, seeing the positive in my story ,which, has been the most difficult bc it's been punctuated by so much tragedy & loss.
    I don't speak much about the particulars bc one leads to the next and honestly, it's so crazy that people just kind of wind up jaws dropped, speechless, not sure what to say or do, be happy or sad & it's potentially super awkward. I'm thinking a book might be in my future (seriously actually, it's always something I've wanted to do whether anyone ever reads it or not... it'll cut down on the awkward 1st person story telling... so there's that).
    Back to aging...
    Life's a journey. We all take it. It's how we choose to perceive it, interpret it, approach it that actually matters 👈 sounds cliche but it's the most honest thing I have learned and can say about it.
    Having suffered from crippling depression at times, I feel like I've often cheated myself out of so much bc I didn't want to live it at times but again, that was a part of my journey & now I use those times to reflect on when I want to procrastinate or take the safe road.
    It's never over (til it's legit over) so never tell yourself you're too old to do anything. F it. Just do it (👈 thx Nike).
    Superficial bs is exactly what it is. Superficial. There is no one way, no proper way, no chronological way to do anything.
    Do you. Be you. Focus on what makes you happy, what brings you joy & withhold judgement of others.
    Aesthetically, eat well but don't deny. Stay active. Be good to your body. Be grateful for good genes (👈 thx mom; that's about all she gave me but it's a goody).
    Be kind. Love. Be strong but vulnerable.

  • @ShaunTheCHB
    @ShaunTheCHB 5 лет назад

    Growing older has been very depressing for me, I have had a very tough journey in my life. Depression, anxiety and discrimination have been the whole story pretty much. I missed out on many opportunities for love, friendship and joy that most people take for granted. Due to my disability and society just discriminating, I could never experience those moments and I can't get them back now. My mother has struggled so much because she has had to look after me and not have a free life of her own.
    I'm glad that many others don't feel that way and that many others who hit 30 and higher have had good lives, I certainly would never wish for anyone else to go through what I have gone through.
    I'll be 35 next month and I'm dreading it truly. 35 years on this world and I have nothing to show for it expect sadness and pain and a whole lot of regret. I don't want to grow old anymore, I want to stop.
    Sorry this is very dark, but that's how I feel unfortunately. I hope no body else feels like this, that would be terrible.
