Anyone else struggle with an addiction to sugar and sweets? Some studies have shown that sugar can be as addictive as recreational drugs like cocaine (bit.ly/2qw8KSM). Consuming excessive sugar became toxic for me and the best course of action is an elimination diet (everyone is different and this is not necessarily the best course of action for everyone!). In today's video I will discuss foods I am currently eating and some healthy daily habits I am trying to practice. If you have any questions or would like me to film additional videos on this journey of mine, please let me know below! ❤️

You can make a "jam" out of chia seeds and fruit. You saute the fruit (i.e. strawberries, blueberries) on low medium heat. You can add stevia or different sweetener if you like. You add the chia seeds and it gives it this jelly-like consistency. I make mine and put it in mason jars.

I make mine with fresh or frozen mixed berries, a splash of fruit juice, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and a couple teaspoons of honey to sweeten (if you like). Simmer and mash the berries, cook until its thickened up a bit. It's so easy and really delicious :)

I think you have one of the healthiest and most relatable relationships with food that I've seen on RUclips. I know some RUclipsrs hate doing "what I eat in a day videos", but I hope you keep it up. I find they really inspire me to better my diet. I've been a little keto-curious but I don't think it would work for me. I'm vegetarian, too much dairy breaks me out, and I love fruit. There is a great documentary called “Fed Up” and it talks about the effect of sugar, how much of a negative impact faux sugar and real sugar can have, how the industry fools you into thinking low fat is better for you, but most dont know that low fat items are higher in sugar and sugar substitutes. It totally made me and my husband rethink how we approach food. It’s a great and eye opening documentary.

My sister has type 2 diabetes and has cut sugar and carbs from her diet completely and we're always looking for new recipes because I myself am also in good shape but because I was addicted to sugar for so long I'm pre diabetic and I still struggle to not eat sugar, your videos have always helped me calm down during a panic attack but now you've helped me see there are ways to not eat sugar and still have a good tasting meal and snack! I also have really painful cystic acne so I can't wait to see how much better my face gets when I stop eating sugar

Hey! I’ve been getting PRP treatments done for almost a year now and it’s really worked for me! I have PCOS making me lose my hair so we don’t have the same problem exactly but I would really recommend trying it out! When they inject the plasma into your head it feels super weird like your head is bloated which is kinda funny. So yeah definitely recommend it! Good luck!

I have the same issue with sugar you describe. Its an addiction and I have triggers too. I find it helpful to focus on *not buying* processed sugary (vs not eating sugar). I also find that I'm most vulnerable to a relapse when my life is chaotic and I have poor routines. I've also found it helpful to eat something with a lot of protein when I have cravings that are really intense.

It’s like you knew I needed this. Currently going through the long and painful process of killing off candida overgrowth in my gut, after too many years on antibiotics (the die off is so bad at this stage, and while watching this I’m taking my daily fetal position on the floor and will probably be here for the next 45 minutes lol). So, that means no sugar and very limited carbs for me. I typically eat very healthily and have always made a point to limit sugar, processed and otherwise (less than 24g a day). But man..... after going through this, I’m realizing I was/am still addicted. It is so insanely hard to cut. And sometimes it feels like you’re stranded on a desert island navigating through the transition, so I really seriously needed this video. can’t wait for you to cover the topic of acne.

If you're looking for something sort of sweet that is low in sugar, even natural sugars, chia pudding is a great way to go! Sweeten with vanilla, cinnamon, liquid stevia, Lily's chocolate, toasted pecans, unsweetened coconut and some berries. Very little sugar that won't spike your insulin but feels like a sweet treat!

watched this at 2am last night barely keeping my eyes open, just to have some motivation to try to quit sugar. you discussing this made me also realise a lot more how unhealthy my current relationship with sugar is. I feel like I have been struggling with food all my life, hence I've never been given a correct image of what a proper diet and eating habits look like. My mom has been bulimic in the past and I feel like she definitely fits Binge eating disorder, Ive always denied having BED (don't want to self diagnose) but lately ive been realising how much negative thoughts and habits I form around food. Thank you for always inspiring and motivating not just me but tons of people to take care of themselves. I love you!

I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when I was 11 and I have had it for almost 5 years now. It completely changed my life and made me totally change my diet and what I consume on a daily basis. I am really concentrating on totally eliminating processed sugars from my diet at this point because every time I try to have a "small amount" or just a little taste of a dessert I am back in that mindset of constantly craving sugar. I was raised eating very healthy foods, which I am very grateful for, but when I became old enough to make my own food choices I immediately gravitated toward sugar and became addicted to sweets. Eliminating processed sugar for me entirely seems like the only viable solution

This is such a struggle for me. I am a sugar addict. I have eaten sugar packets when I didn't have some kind of pastry available. I have gotten up at 2:00 in the morning, driven to the store, and gotten some cake or sugar thing to satisfy my craving. Now I am diabetic. When I was diagnosed, my blood glucose was 484 and my A1C was 14.7. I now have to take insulin 4 times each day. Quitting sugar now is a must to save my life. This video is great. Please do a video on the process and what you went through. People do not understand the depths of this addiction and how sugar is in EVERYTHING! Thanks for doing this.

Hey, I shared the same experience as u about 2 years ago and was just as scared. I think a big step in resolving the sugar craze we feel is identifying what in our diet contains all that sugar. For me, it was cerial. I would only eat cerial sometimes just to feel that sweet tooth. I also cut out soda and juices. I began drinking CLEAR sodas from Walmart and stopped buying so much candy. I became aware of labels for what I was eating and slowly but surely actually began rejecting high levels of sugar. The key is living a logical and sustainable lifestyle so u can still enjoy yourself. So I can proudly say my sugar levels are normal now and I still drink soda and eat sweets occasionally but it’s no longer a dependency. Sugar also aided in my anxiety as it would “calm me down” so I tackled some mental health issues as well, it’s all connected. Take ur time in finding out why u crave sugar in whatever form it’s in and start from there!

One key tip is to read all the etiquetes (there's sugar on EVERYTHING: tomato sauce, bread, veggetable milk, etc) be awere of it!

It's nice to see and learn from other people with the same problem. I also think that I have a sugar addiction, even though I really want to slow down the consumption. It's really hard because of its "drug"-effect, one gets easily addicted to it. Studies have also shown that sugar can increase cancer risk and other problems like acne etc.
    It's rlly not easy.

I’m 44 and I’ve struggled so severely with hair thinning and receding hair loss in the last few years from polycstic ovarian syndrome and whatever else. Nothing has helped and it’s just devastating since I’ve always had thick and long hair. I also have always had a horrific addiction with sugar. So there’s that. It has come to a close second to a long battle with drugs and alcohol which thankfully are over. Thank you for always addressing what’s important. ❤️

I just had a couple thoughts as I finished this video, which was wildly entertaining btw (that might sound sarcastic, but it’s totally not, I love what I ate in a day videos):
First: watching your videos gives me such strong fruit cravings because all your fruit looks so fresh and succulent 🤤
Second: as a creative suggestion; it might be cool to put together some sort of outro clip at the end of your videos. Maybe a compilation of you pole dancing, ice skating, doing asmr, and making yummy food or something set to some cool music, as sort of a sign off summarization of your channel and what it consists of. Just a thought 💭
I love your channel and think your videos are great!
