Anyone else struggle with an addiction to sugar and sweets? Some studies have shown that sugar can be as addictive as recreational drugs like cocaine (bit.ly/2qw8KSM). Consuming excessive sugar became toxic for me and the best course of action is an elimination diet (everyone is different and this is not necessarily the best course of action for everyone!). In today's video I will discuss foods I am currently eating and some healthy daily habits I am trying to practice. If you have any questions or would like me to film additional videos on this journey of mine, please let me know below! ❤️

I think you have one of the healthiest and most relatable relationships with food that I've seen on RUclips. I know some RUclipsrs hate doing "what I eat in a day videos", but I hope you keep it up. I find they really inspire me to better my diet. I've been a little keto-curious but I don't think it would work for me. I'm vegetarian, too much dairy breaks me out, and I love fruit. The way you're eating right now seems like a good compromise for me!

I found out I was pre-diabetic about 3 months ago. I have since been on a keto diet, and I have lowered my blood sugar significantly, completely eliminating carbs and sugar. I feel great! It's scary and life-changing when you get diagnosed as pre-diabetic. It really brings into perspective what you consume on a daily basis.

I watched your video not thinking I would feel any relief about it, or hear you mention this, but you did! So many people out there give such canned-answers to this problem but I don’t think I have ever heard a more genuine and useful piece of knowledge. I literally felt like you were talking to me and it made me feel a million times better than anything anyone else has said. How are you so genuine?!! I just love the no BS anwers and encouragment. Yes lot of things are processed as sugar in our body! Alcohol as well. There are a lot of factors that determine the effect a particular food will have on blood sugar, however, like the fiber content and what other foods are consumed at the same time. Happy to hear you were able to reverse your high blood sugar! Mine is back to the high side of normal as well, several years later.

I really love that you've been talking about your sugar free journey the past month or so because I've been trying go low sugar low carb for my skin and digestive system in particular. I just moved back home after college and found myself over indulging in things I didn't always have access to at school like bagels every morning and ice cream every other night (there's a really great local creamery near me and it's hard to resist especially in the summer). I've found it's actually a lot easier than you'd think to cut back on those things once you become aware of it and focus on finding better alternatives to include in your diet.

This is such a struggle for me. I am a sugar addict. I have eaten sugar packets when I didn't have some kind of pastry available. I have gotten up at 2:00 in the morning, driven to the store, and gotten some cake or sugar thing to satisfy my craving. Now I am diabetic. When I was diagnosed, my blood glucose was 484 and my A1C was 14.7. I now have to take insulin 4 times each day. Quitting sugar now is a must to save my life. This video is great. Please do a video on the process and what you went through. People do not understand the depths of this addiction and how sugar is in EVERYTHING! Thanks for doing this.

I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when I was 11 and I have had it for almost 5 years now. It completely changed my life and made me totally change my diet and what I consume on a daily basis. I am really concentrating on totally eliminating processed sugars from my diet at this point because every time I try to have a "small amount" or just a little taste of a dessert I am back in that mindset of constantly craving sugar. I was raised eating very healthy foods, which I am very grateful for, but when I became old enough to make my own food choices I immediately gravitated toward sugar and became addicted to sweets. Eliminating processed sugar for me entirely seems like the only viable solution

Since you like doctors and since you are looking to heal your body of a pre-diabetic situation, you may be interested in the book by Dr. Steven Gundry, a renowned cardiac surgeon, called "The Plant Paradox". Since starting his program I went from having a blood glucose reading of 110 to 78.... I hope this will help you in your search for amazing health...
btw - some good plant based substitutes for sugar are inulin and erythritol... If you feel like you would like a yummy lo-carb ice-cream sweetened with erythritol, try Enlightened. It comes in dairy or dairy-free versions...my favorite is the chocolate peanut butter, although peanuts are high lectin and not healthy...If you would like some inulin based chocolates, try Slim Fasts's Caramel Nut Cluster Fat Bombs... delicious! But again, peanuts are not healthy..Julie
Also, Vitamin B12 is just poop... so you can get it easily by eating your garden veggies unwashed... you can get plenty of iron by taking alfalfa powder capsules...I use Dr. Christophers since all of his products come in veggie caps...
And you won't need probiotics if you eat plenty of pre-biotics to feed the healthy gut bugs (probiotics) that are already in your gut... Pre-biotics are fiber found in fibrous veggies and in inulin and erythritol..
Unfortunately, all of the meals you are eating in this video will keep you in a pre-diabetic state... Please read, "The Plant Paradox" to no longer have these health issues...this message is sent to bless your life with great health :)
You are absolutely right! You do know more than doctors regarding your own health...You will be inspired as how to heal yourself, as you well know being Jewish... "Physician, heal thyself"... Personally, I don't ever visit a doctor since I know better than they do about my own body...but I will go once a year to have blood work drawn to get blood tests to verify what I already know... It never hurts to have science confirm that you are on the right track...but never have doctors try to fix you... they don't have more than one nutrition class in med-school so you know how to heal yourself with foods/nutrition better than they do...just let them do the tests...then you fix it...if need be...

That being said, you should also try to stay away from the rice cakes as they're not actually good you. They have a really high glycemic index, they provoke a high amount of sugar in your blood when digested.

Yeah, I think it’s much more difficult for people in North America to quit sugar than for us in Europe. Due to strict legislation EU countries make producers be so transparent about their products and regulate that content that it’s easy for the common consumer to make decisions about which product suits best their need by a simple glance at the nutrition table which is simple and easy to understand. And we don’t get the dreaded ”corn syrup” as ingredient which I understand is US’s tongue in cheek way to say ”let’s see how many figure out corn syrup is interchangeable with sugar?” I’ve quit ”sugar” (fizzy drinks, sweets, cakes etc.) cold turkey for about 14 years. I wasn’t that big of a fan of it anyway (though during high school when the school food sucked I’d eat instead two Mars bars and a can of Coke, but I usually disliked cakes). My sugar levels are ok because I eat fruits and vegetables, some bread and of course meat which all of them do contain some levels of sugar. Though there is a difference between sugar from fruits and vegetables and straight one from sugar plants. I do however drink soft drinks from time to time, but only if they are alcoholic. And while I dislike Coke now it goes down good with Jack Daniel’s or rum. So it’s a sort of acceptable compromise. Also ”diet/zero sugar” drinks are in the long run bad for you. Don’t try to fool your pancreas you’re giving it real sugar, otherwise it’ll turn against you.

    • @itsblitzzz
      @itsblitzzz  5 лет назад

Corn syrup is definitely poison! It's in a lot of things here. My current diet is not a zero sugar diet because I am eating fruit! Your organs process most sugars the same, even healthy ones from fresh produce, but they don't have the same negative effect on body & blood sugar because they also contain fiber and other nutrients.

Hey! Yes I had very bad acne for many years. The rice cases aren't slow carbs but when you eat fast carbs with protein they don't spike blood sugar as much. I am not cutting out fast carbs entirely, just lowering them in most cases. Rice cakes are still pretty low carb (14g), 3 ingredients, and no sugar (theses ones anyways!). My trainer recommended them with protein for snacks on the go ❤️

I think more people are diabetic then they might think. I am also diabetic but all my other blood tests are great (cholesterol, blood pressure, triglycerides etc) and doctors are really confused as to why i am diabetic. Personally I think it is stress that causes a lot of people to have these high blood sugars, and people think they are probably not diabetic if they do not have obesity, which is, in my opinion, quite naive.

You can make a "jam" out of chia seeds and fruit. You saute the fruit (i.e. strawberries, blueberries) on low medium heat. You can add stevia or different sweetener if you like. You add the chia seeds and it gives it this jelly-like consistency. I make mine and put it in mason jars.
