Back in 2016, Apple introduced AirPods. They were one of the first pair of truly wireless headphones, with no wire connecting the two earbuds together. But this cutting edge technology didn’t come cheap. The AirPods were priced at $159, which caused many people online to dismiss the headphones. Since you could buy a wired pair with much better sound quality for the same price. The design of AirPods were also mocked, being compared to Q-tips and tooth brush heads. Commenters online were certain that no one would want to wear such ridiculous-looking headphones. But as with most Apple haters, they turned out to be wrong. AirPods became a runaway success, and have since seen several updates and iterations. So in this video, I’m going to explain the history of the AirPods.

Where I come from I have seen only 1 pair of them when over the ears are normal and it was in a shopping village. The guy was wearing a 3-piece suit and the iPods looked so funny and out of place on him. Like would it have killed Apple to turn the stems forward to look like the even more common Bluetooth mic or up to look like antennas?
Not gonna lie, when airpods came out, I was skeptical of them and now I wouldn’t be able to live without them
All my friends were as well. I remember in the keynote in 2016, I must have been one of the few who pretty jazzed by their design though because I LOVED the fit and sound of the EarPods and figured these would be great. I did expect latency issues though and when I bought them, I remember being most impressed with how fast they connected with no issues.
this was exactly me
Same here except u was more skeptical of the price but now I love them. I still think they’re overpriced rn but they are convenient so I don’t mind paying extra

Same I started using these and I can never go back to wired headphones. Now they’re $119 for the 2nd gen AirPods, they’re more affordable 🙂

@dylan mae Depends on what specifically. My computer is a custom built PC running Windows, my phone is an LG V60, my ear buds are the Anker Soundcore Liberty 2 Pro.
Although I didn’t have an iPhone at the time I didn’t mind Apple not having a headphone jack because I was constantly replacing wired headphones when they’d eventually break due to constantly being yanked out of my phone a billion different ways, by then I was already using wireless headphones so it made sense to me.
You have no idea how many times the cord got stuck on something and the headphones yanked off. Wireless headphones are definitely the way to go.

I first thought they were expensive but I eventually got them and once you use them, you never go back to wired earphones. The lack of wires makes the price worth it.
But we can never forget the wire which rescued our phones from falling from the edge of the table 😆
I mean without wires your phone isn’t yanked of the table anyway

AirPods: best Apple product line since the original iPhone. Love em!
As a lifelong Mac user, I am thoroughly impressed with the Mac themes. the icons are spot on and the universal menu is pretty rare to see in MacOS-like distros. The only thing is that the font wasn't quite correct, but still a great job!
Anybody else’s heart drop when you drop one of them ?
The Airpods were my first true wireless earbuds, and even now with my Galaxy Buds Live and Pro, I gotta give credit to my Airpods for bringing me into loving true wireless buds.
Hehehe Samsung Beans. Worst « pro » earbuds I’ve ever tried
The 🫘 are shit anc barely does a thing and it burns through the battery + shitty touch controls apples squeezing the stem is way better because you have to do it intentionally
I had the normal AirPods for about a year and a half until I decided to get the pros, I have no idea how the pros fall out of some people’s ears but personally, they are perfect for me

@Luke AirPods Max sound 50x better than regular AirPods, I don’t know Bose very well, but I guess your choice should depend on the number of Apple devices you have. The AirPods Max are great in the ecosystem, they have the same connectivity features as the AirPods. If you don’t care about that at all, I advise you to watch professional comparison videos if your main focus is sound quality.

I have been enjoying AirPods since I got my first pair about two years ago. I have had the first AirPods and then the pros and since then I cannot imagine my life without those! Having said that, when will you eventually do live streams again? I really miss them!
I genuinely love my Airpods Pro. I tried using so many other headphones, both in ear and over ear, wireless and wired, and just nothing comes close. Every time I try another pair I just get disappointed. They're simply good for my needs and that's about it.
I kind of found it weird how a lot of people kept trying to find reasons to hate on Airpods when they were first announced. A lot of "I've already lost them by just looking at them lol", and when told that you are supposed to carry them in the charging case, they'd be like "well I'd probably still forget about it and leave it at home or something". Well that sounds like a you problem that you're clumsy lol. Besides it's not like Apple invented TWS, a lot of complaints people have about Airpods before ever trying them are not even exclusive to Airpods but TWS earphones in general.

These are an improvement over the 1st gen buds. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxK5mc3yw4xA7Mf2j6k6n1Uqv_KUgrKdeM Pros: The fit is fantastic. This is the biggest plus. They stay in my ears when running and become unnoticeable. They are tight but comfortable. The sound quality is about the same as the 1st gen buds. They pair more easily with my LG G8 ThinQ and immediately reconnect when removed from the case. The sound balance is excellent, good but not overpowering base and clean mid tones and highs.Cons: The noise cancellation is good but perhaps a little less effective than the Bose ANC on the 1st gen buds. Passthrough mode as not as good as the 1st gen buds making it a little more difficult to hear conversations when in passthrough.
The old BGM is back again. Love the video BTW
I've never owned them but you can clearly see that Apple went all out on design and convenience level for this product line.
Whereas fitness and health was the thinking behind the existence of the Apple watch!
Almost a year ago I wanted to purchase a pair of TWS headphones, I was seriously considering the AirPods Pro but in the end I went for the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless (first-gen) and I totally love them.
the in-ear feature is what sold me on getting the AirPods Pro. They are the only true wireless headbands that I've used that don't fall out. I can eat and so on with them. They do slip a little but the fact that they don't have touch functions means that I can adjust them without triggering something.
Thanks for giving a brief history on airpods . it will help me a lot in my presentation .
I got my AirPods a couple of years ago when a was half way though (UK) college. I loved the fact they didnt have a wire to tangle in my bag. But also like said you arnt tied to a device. A could leave my iPhone with friends at my computer walk across the library about 20 meters to the printer and back again with them in my ear and they sounded better than the wired ones i would have to carry a device to use
Airpods, are a genuis invention.

Great video man.
I couldn’t justify spending the money on the AirPods until 2019 (too expensive for how much I was earning - 1/3 of my salary). But once I got them.... I just love them.
I don't own any Apple Products but I like learning about them, you earned a sub, Greg from Apple Explained
AirPods went from meme status to ubiquitous. I have had the 1st Gen Airpods for over a year now and I love them. They were much better than other wireless earbuds I've used in the past. The AirPods Max look super dope, except for that smart case. TBH, it looks like something I'd throw away. It makes Sony's noise cancelling headphones look like a better deal.
Bought them on day one. I knew Apple was onto something soon as they were announced. The convenience of using one bud at a time while getting full functionality was amazing
Yup…I hated it too. But now I own an AirPod pro 2. What blew me away is the noise transparency of the device. It’s astounding. I freaking love it.
AirPods Max was a low supply high demand issue. Apple was having production issues as reported by MacRumors.
Yes. Too expensive for a headphone.
@@random-accessmemory9201 if you want the best in the market you have to pay for it
I remember talking to my classmate in high school saying "one day we will have headphones with no wire so if you have long hair you could just listen to music all throughout class without being bothered" how the hell did people think this was a bad idea or ugly ever? The potential was immediately obvious to anyone with half a braincell. Even if they thought this was an apple gimmick that was overpriced (which I agree), the concept was long awaited and necessary.
Well, I think a few points you made about the airpods pro max are not thought out to the end.
The fabric handband is protected by the aluminum, but only vertically, not horizontally. Also, I personally don't know what to do if it partially loses connection to the frame. Another thing is, the most people I know want to retract their headphones in order to save space and all the resellers want to keep it in prestine condition. In addition, I don't like beeing forced to use a specific case just to have access to the low power mode. And a minor detail here is, that when you pull them out with slightly more force, the ear pieces will bumb against each other, which might have a long term effect on its condition. A common statement I have heard is, tho built like a premium product, many consider them too heavy and not comfortable for any action that doesn't allow you to sit still.
Yes, many personal things, but also some apple could have done better from a product design standpoint from day one.
I am a airpods 2nd gen user myself and I am highly satisfied. But these... I don't know.
Besides that, you did make a really info packed and nice to look at video. Thumbs up :)
Hmmm, let's see. I bought (and heavely used) sub $30 BT wireless ear pods for use on my HTC phone years before Apple invented it. Admittedly mine had a wire that connected the ear pods. I was aware of models that were fully wireless but those were a bit expensive. Then the AirPods came along. At the time my initial reaction was ... Oh look Apple finally got into wireless for ear buds. The fact the case also charged the ear pods was new - I never saw that before. THAT was a really great idea from Apple, I'll give them that. Plus it could chage the phone too, was a smart feature.
4:26 I'm assuming you either are laughing or stuttering while voice-overing that part
Had AirPods gen 2 for a year than got the pros 2 weeks ago there both great highly recommended
Next time I wish you make a video about beats and what's happening to them????
10:43 i can understand why people asking for power button.
I once staying at my brother's "smart house". Can't help myself from keep looking for light switch, despite he already mentioned every light is auto switch.
odd to dismiss the smart case complaints and not talk about how the charging cutout doesn’t line up with the lightning port and the most vulnerable parts of even the earcups (the corners) aren’t protected by the case
The AirPods Max argument about the case doesn’t make sense. “I like how I don’t have to fold the headphones”. Sure, but have you compared the durability with a folded, inside a hard case headphone? AP Max just sit around in your bag, waiting to be pressed by something else.
3:31 tell that to my dad. he bought the pros but still uses his earpods.
I’ve always used earbuds/headphones since I was in Middleschool, back in 2002. I got so sick of being attached to my device, and having them ripped out of my ears by snagging the cord on a doorknob or something. Once I got my AirPods, I’ve never gone back. Notice how every single company immediately followed apple’s lead after the saw the AirPods was a huge success? It wasn’t long until every single company had their own AirPods knock off.
Well you see they started with these lil cutips then added some speakers to the end and finally a charging cradle next thing you know AirPods were born.
There’s a couple of points I would like to make about the way people saw AirPods:
1. Corded headphones can be used with anything with an audio jack. Today: you have to press extra buttons and sometimes get around the fact that iPhones don’t work with certain brands of headphones as smoothly as AirPods.
2. Most people don’t care about the battery because the headphone battery power is displayed on the phone. There are also audio cues that let you know if your battery will run out.
3. With corded headphones: you can listen to a video while charging and without worrying about the charge of the Bluetooth headphones.
4. I admit, AirPods are actually quite handy. They work incredibly well and are very comfortable in the ear, as well as useful for phone calls and without the fear of cords being yanked out.
5. I believe that Apple and other phone companies should have the option to buy models with audio jacks due to the fact that audio jacks have been available for over 70 years.
6. Corded headphones are cheaper, they are widely available, and are easily replaced and will last with good care.
7. Most phone brands don’t allow the user to have both Bluetooth *and* corded headphones. Some people can’t afford expensive Bluetooth headphones and Apple corded earbuds are $20.
Variety is the best option: don’t you think?
Its amusing how airpods are always compared to wired earbuds but never the other wireless earbuds that cost a quarter of the price for the same listening quality. Throughout the whole video, and virtually every comment in the comment section they speak as though apple is the only wireless earbud producer, and compare the airpods to wired earbuds in every scenario.
I love AirPods I have AirPods pros the one with the wireless charging case and do it in the old ones
ok?
Even I admitted that without the exploding popularity of Airdpods, I would never knew about similar TWS models
The history of AirPods should go back to 2007, the iPhone Bluetooth Headset was the AirPods of it's time. Although it didn't play music, it's also based on Apple's wired earbuds, it also had system integration.
Look apple is naming there products with at least a I like: Ipod,Ipad,IPhone AirPods

I got my airpods (1st gen) in 2018 I think it lasted up to 4 years it still works just that the left airpod dies easily the right still works fine but decided to upgrade to the 3rd Gen about a month ago and I have no regrets.
I was just about to go on a walk and I type in the history of airpods and this video pops up from 10 hours ago. what are the odds.
The regular AirPods are the only headphones that managed to stay for a long time in my ears without falling like other in ear headphones
I don’t know what it is but airpods just work so perfectly and the fact you can charge them with your case it makes it so much better it’s definitely worth 150 I have the generation 2 my brother has the pro
