I agree and I really hope these are turning into commissions for you. My sister does some drawings for clients as an add on to her property business. Unfortunately there are a number of clients that seem to push, push and push to get far more out of the brief than originally agreed
The hand drawn sketches combined with the computer generated renderings really demonstrate the clarity of the design and its intentions in creating a new space. The narrative is also technical and simple enough for a layperson to understand, but not overly verbose as so many other architects can be. Much respect from a fellow architect from Fiji 👍😎🤙
It would be a wonderful, romantic home for a couple. A dark green color for the external of the house would also work, to blend in with the surrounding trees and nature.
So so talented - Gemma, your design clarity/orientation, spatial awareness, and thoughtfulness in finding solutions is truly remarkable. Thank you for sharing your craft and articulation.
That's a great remodel! It's very creative and bright. I love the exposed roof beams. I believe you're correct about the exterior being white as well. Nicely done😊
I've been watching your channel for a while now. I love how you explain your design choices very clearly and mention other options you have cpnaidered in the designing process. You always consider every single detail very carefully, but you never forget to consider the overall picture either. Kudos for your excellent work! I noticed that you usually focus on small residential buildings. Would you also feel like tackling projects with the opposite problem - too much space. How would you allow for intuitive circulation and how would you make them feel warm and homely? Also, I would love to see you design buildings with different purposes: How about schools, religious sites, hospitals, hotels, train stations, office spaces or even museums?
Ah interesting, someone sent me a circular building actually which got me thinking about that kind of thing. Hopefully I’ll get to it because I have some ideas. In terms of the type of architecture, the majority of my experience is in residential design so that’s where I focus. And I keep it small to make it possible to keep the videos coming. But I never know what I’m going to do next so now you’ve planted the seed of the idea…?!
Fascinating! I was amused and pleased to see that my instinct to put in an open, metal, circular staircase was very close to what you went with. The one thing I would add would be some sort of railing alongside the ground floor step entrance. Otherwise, the possibility of stepping off that entrance platform is too high for my comfort. It wouldn’t have to be anything like a wall or a half-wall even; just a bar across and down, to prevent someone from accidentally stepping off into the space in front of the sink. I say this because I used to own a pool with an entrance staircase that dropped off one side into the deep end, and I can’t tell you how many times guests (or myself!) stepped to that side and suddenly ended up over their heads in deep water! Thanks for this lovely exploration of a unique tiny house!
Very nice design. I love the look and feel of it, inside and out. Could the low-height roof area over the main entrance not also be used for storage on that upper BR level, though? Perhaps, the whole bed could roll away from the wall and create an attached slide-out storage unit behind the headboard, like a big, deep drawer to hold bedding and store seasonal clothing, etc?
Hi Gemma- I absolutely love your video over here in Florida! Would you ever consider making a video of you using the Sketchup software to get these amazing results? Basically just recording your process?
Usually I am absolutely blown by your designs, and I for sure love your new addition here. However, it does not get to me why you didn‘t create a double use living room out of that lower guest room? You could have easily used a convertible sofa bed and frosted glass sliding door or doors to add more light to the entrance area. Besides, I do not get why you decided to create two kitchens throughout the house. Where do people who enter the house put their shoes and coats? Also, I would have introduced a glass divider for the staircase in order co pass through the light of the tiny window. As well as maybe also include a frosted glass insert into the entrance door to introduce more light into the ground level room. What made you decide differently? Warm regards >> Julia
I watch a lot of architectural videos and every home I've ever seen has all this natural light in the bedroom and I'm wondering why. It's really bad for your sleep hygiene. Plus, if you don't have natural light in your bedroom, you don't have that feeling of utter and complete despair when in the middle of February the sun wakes you up and you know that it's -30 out and you have to leave the house. There's that small window from the time you get out of bed and walk to the kitchen window to prepare yourself for the horror that could be possibly awaiting you. I try to make that moment last for as long as possible.
Yours are by far the best solutions I've seen out there to adapt existing buildings into living spaces. Your creativity never conflicts with such respect for the pre-existing structures. I found that amazing! I hope one day I can buy and old small building and hire you to turn it my forever home.
I had subscribed to your channel after watching your last video, then i went on to watch all the previous content. And i can't explain how many times i have thought about when you will be uploading a new project!😊
Stunning design Gemma. You never fail to impress me and to fit 2 bedrooms into this tiny home is a major achievement. I love it and hope the viewer who sent it in to you takes your advice and completes this renovation and lets us see the results once complete. Off to rewatch the video again as I always have to watch your videos at least 5 or 6 times to see all the clever things you do.
Wow, another truly amazing project for a house that seemed quite impossible to make sense! I love the opaque glass in the shower and the roof windows. I would LOVE to live in this house. Very well done. Can't wait for the next one!
This might be a little outside your wheelhouse (no pun intended (well, maybe a bit)) but I'd love to see your approach to an apartment building, since they are, in a way, a bunch of tiny houses in one building.
Totally love the inside architecture! The only thing I wouldn’t change is the outside in it’s original colors and even it’s slightly broken down aspect that I always love. The contrast with the modern interior doesn’t feel to disconnected to me. Do love the added openings and build-in bench on the terrasse. I wonder how they are planning to heat it and if adding a stove would be a necessity to keep heating cost down in winters?
I am sooo happy to see another brilliant design by you! I am a Hungarian, living in the USA. The location, re-emagined function speaks to me in so many ways. LOVE IT!!!!
I’m watching from Hungary, love the area of Lake Balaton! It’s wonderful to see your solutions! It would be amazing to see these kind of houses in your style! Love your channel! ❤
Great solutions,Gemma, especially the window upstairs ..I live in Hungary and like those kind of houses...personally I would prefer old branches instead of glass upstairs at the vide
Another lovely and sensitive design, Gemma. It is so nice that you kept most of the more modern design elements on the inside and retained the traditional elements of the outside. It's very beautiful and elegant.
Hungary was my fathers home land. Your video provides some drone footage which I truly am grateful for. I have not seen Hungary for myself yet, but it is on my bucket list. Lovely design! Thank you🌸V
Love this take Gemma! Just a thought as it appears as if this building is actually in the beginning stages of rebirth, maybe introducing storage of some kind behind the bed in the upper level above the veranda roof? Could then reorient the room to take advantage of the longer wall, though the mezzanine may be diminished
A walk through post war suburbs in Budapest shows houses painted with natural oxides. Red iron oxide, yellow ochre, titanium oxide, whiting, etc. That local midcentury colour palate could be interesting to bring into contemporary design ideas.
These are great design challenges. I’ve paused the vid before you revealed your design. I then designed up my own solution and then compare to what you’ve done. This one was quite the puzzle.
I fell in love with this house upon first glance. It's gorgeous. With your ideas and design I'll now dream of this house. I love it so much. It's a treasure.
I am stunned how you respect the historian look of this building and still turn it into a modern, attractive living space. Great job. Can't get enough of your videos!
Darn you are good! Both technically, colour-wise, keeping original features and enhancing them, and incorporating inside and outside in a meaningful way- and even finding space for cabinets/closets where there seemingly is none.
This channel is going places! One design highlight after the other. I’m constantly in shock how beautiful these plans turn out to be.
Thank you so much!

Totally agree!
ive said it before but i will say it again. this is the kind of thing that makes me love architecture.

This is the first design of yours I have seen. You create magic, just beautiful. ❤😊🎉Congratulations 🎊
The ‘before’ pic shows a cutie pie. Very architectural!!! Perfect property to improve; I’ll bet someone loved it!!😌♥️

Amazing design Gemma!!!
Thank you! 😊
As always I enjoy looking over your shoulder during the design phase. Especially like the glass wall for the shower.
I agree that an all white exterior very much elevates the appearance.
Wonderful ideas ! It looks like a very meditative space. Especially in the context of a vineyard.
This is one of my favorite designs far - especially the staircase!!
Stunning
Enjoyed your ideas. The wine site sounds nice.
Very clever, indeed. I wouldn't make all the same choices but the attic area is marvelous. Your software is really good.
This is stunning and well thought out
Beautifully done.
Gorgeous.
Absolutely beautiful ❤
I really love this design. I love how you explain the constraints and the solutions. I always feel like you're thinking outside of the box!

Other than I would NOT paint the whole exterior white, this is genius.
Bravo!
Love the layout suggestions, not so keen on the white outside.

What a lovely reimagining of a fine old building.
That ground floor entrance would definitely be my library, workspace and gaming area!
With a studio/office!
Amazing that a building for pressing grapes has so much architectural style and character!
That was the norm back in those days.
Anyone who was rich enough to build such a thing, did it with style.
