The simpsons was at least 100x more popular in the 90s when 1) it was all we had to do 2) the show was actually good as proven by ratings anyone can look up, and 3) it was the thing you'd talk about on monday in school.
You can find ANY school aged kid on the PC or on their phone for their entire free time, and hardly any of them watching TV beyond just having the disney channel running passively as background noise.
