    Hi guys! So I'm commenting here in 2019 letting you know that clips from this video have been stolen many times to promote horrible hair growth pills and other scam products. I am not affiliated and do not promote any of the companies using my image! If you see ads on facebook or IG using clips from my videos please comment and let people know it's a scam and I do not endorse it! Even if they state I use it and give a false review. I don't!! This has been going on for a few years already and the last thing I want is people getting scammed into buying these products. P.s. I have tried reporting, getting the ads taken down and nothing works because they are not legit companies and come back the next day with a new company name. Thank you all for watching this video and supporting me!! xoxoxo

    all the tips:
    - use a wooden brush, european ones are best to buy online.
    - oils: argan, coconut, jojoba, neem or avocado oils. or essential oils like rosemary.
    leave it overnight or spread it through your ends everyday.
    - scalp massage with oils.
    - use organic shampoo and conditioner, with low ingredients so without the chemicals.
    - wash your hair every 4-6 days.
    - leave- in hair rinses: apple cider vinegar with water, rosemary water rinse.
    - limit your heat use.
    - use damage-proof hairstyles overnight and through the day, like a twisted bun or sidebraid.
    - eat healthy whole foods, natural whole foods protein and healthy fats.
    - for an extra use high quality supplements like MSM powder.
    - trim your own split ends.
    my own tip:
    - sleep on a real silk satin pillow case! it leaves my hair super soft and shiny overnight!
    all the tips really work! just memorize them everyday (:

      3546sunny543545 once you start going longer without washing it, your hair will adjust. You'll notice it will get less oily over time. Mix corn starch and baking soda for a dry shampoo or you can buy one. I used to have to wash my hair every day but now my hair has evened out to every 4 days (I still shower everyday of course, but without washing it) 😊

    2- hair oiling and scalp massage or oil the ends
    3- healthy shampoo and conditioner

    4- Quit the heat
    Protective hairstyles for bed
    Eat healthy

    Wow after watching this video I have so much more insight to women who have straight hair and their healthy haircare regimen. Your hair care routine is not much different from someone with a curly or kinky texture who is dedicated to having healthy long hair. I now realize that every hair type desires the same love and detailed care no matter the texture. I would say that your regimen is very similar to mine. A few differences would be -- I have to sleep with a satin scarf and pillowcase so that my hair does not dry out from a cotton fabric. Since my hair is more kinky my natural oils do not reach the tips of my hair easily as it would with someone with straight hair, so I have ensure that my hair is properly hydrated and moisturized. I also deep condition quite a bit more. I wear protective styles almost 90% of the time. I do my best to stay away from heat and I wash my hair once a week or once every other week. I nourish my hair with natural oils as well. I also do scalp massages to stimulate growth. Thank you for sharing your tips.

      Felicia Mesadieu Do you brush your hair? So many people say to not brush curly hair, but I really don't think that's true. I have mildly curly hair and brush it when dry and add oil to my hair, but what about those who have super thick curly hair?

    • @noellesilvia8319
      @noellesilvia8319 7 лет назад +4

      AbnormallyYours I have insanely thick and curly hair and I never brush my hair. Curly hair is prone to breakage and it will dry out if you use a brush. Just use your fingers for detangling. It does the job and won't break your hair.

    • @Delioncourt82
      @Delioncourt82 7 лет назад +3

      Felicia Mesadieu I love your reply! My hair is hip length and the lengths I go to keep it healthy are ridiculous! Deep conditioning, oils, meticulously trimming split ends, non tension hairstyles, certain brushes, no heat, vitamins etc.... it's a lot of work and exhausting but I like long hair so it's not even a choice whether to take extreme care of it or not.

    • @FeliciaMesadieu
      @FeliciaMesadieu 7 лет назад +2

      I don't brush my hair very often. But I do brush my hair a few times a year. I find that I am able to retain my length this way.

    My hair has gotten longer (at least five inches), stronger, healthier, and amazing- I've been using these tips for almost a year. My hair used to be terrible, but I have made my hair amazing. These tips WORK.

    • @elevatedspirit8
      @elevatedspirit8 9 лет назад +9

      +Julia L They do work! I used these tips (which I knew and also googled on my own) to regrow my hair, which I lost to postpartum shedding/telogen effluvium after birth of my son end of 2012. I've gotten all my thickness back (had lost about 40%) and a lot more length than I ever had. My hair has never been this long and pretty, even after a huge shed like that, which is proof that certain methods do definitely work!

    • @elevatedspirit8
      @elevatedspirit8 8 лет назад

      ***** It will probably continue to grow curly, but as it grows longer, the weight of the hair will cause the curls to be longer and not pop out so much. I had the same issue when my hair was shorter. When it grew out, I no longer had the issue with the curly halo around my hairline, lol.

    • @elevatedspirit8
      @elevatedspirit8 8 лет назад

      ***** You're welcome! I'm sure it will as long as you don't let the hairline get damaged...

    • @elevatedspirit8
      @elevatedspirit8 8 лет назад

      ***** No, they don't pop up because my hair is kind of wavy-straight now because I put a relaxer in it. But when it was naturally curly, I would put gel on the edges and put a scarf over it, and let it dry, then when I would take the scarf off, the curls would be down flat. But in high humidity (I live in the southeast USA), they would pop back up sometimes...so that is why I chemically straightened my hair...because it was too thick and too much to manage. I broke combs off in it.

    • @elevatedspirit8
      @elevatedspirit8 8 лет назад

      ***** Aww! You're welcome! I'm so happy for you! My grandma has wiry silver/gray wavy hair and she uses it too, as her edges curl up. I've used the scarf method for years and it does work wonders! Especially when adding a little edge control gel, pomade, or a tad of hair spray for extra control...once it dries the hair typically stays flat.
      I love to wear my hair up pretty much all the time, and so I like to use the scarf method daily! Glad it worked for you! There is lots of info on the scarf method on hair care blogs and forums (just Google it)...that's how I learned about it, and also I found it by trial and error because my hair was too frizzy and puffy. Such a simple remedy!

    3 reasons to have healthy long thick hair.
    1. Genes
    2. No stress
    3. Healthy Diet
    Ever since I moved out from home and have some depressed phases my hair started to fall out a lot. I only have half the hair that I used to have. Which is still more than the average person has. But stressing yourself out and eating wrong are the major things you can actually work on to keep your hair nice and thick

      @inthediamondsky 7 лет назад +39

      Hannah Janssen Use oil. I have curly hair that's always tangled. So I put argan oil OR (in small amounts) coconut oil. Then I start from the bottom to detangle and work my way up to the top. If you brush when wet, it has more of a chance to lead to breakage. If you put oil when dry, and brush at least once a day, you'll see major improvement to your hair.

    Does anyone have any tips for an oily and itchy scalp? I can't go more than two days without washing it, otherwise I''ll scratch my scalp to the bone. I'm vegan and I only use natural hair care products, but none of it seems to be working for my oily scalp. I also do ACV rinses, but they also don't make a huge difference.

      How does the oil smell? Sweet, sour? Do you sweat often, work out or just heat? You may have an imbalance, too much yeast or maybe inflammation. Are your elbows, knees, or knuckles rough or itchy? That could signal a food sensitivity or even allergy. Good luck!

      SofaBar I'm the same way. My scalp is already a shiny mess by day 2 so dry shampoo is my friend by this time. My favorite is not your mothers dry shampoo, since I have super dark hair this doesn't leave that white shadow behind. Plus I start to get headaches if I don't wash it, so the max I can go is 3 days. I've recently gone back to using 3 min miracle by Aussie for color treated hair & not only does it smell amazing but I notice my hair is super super soft afterwards and it really tames my flyaways. I used to use this when my hair was past my hip. Trying to grow it out from a pixie cut.

    I watched this video about 3 months ago. I was so inspired to have strong healthy hair! I ordered all the supplies I would need to follow her advise and I am here to update. In only 2 1/2 months I have seen amazing improvement in the quality of my hair! My hair fall has decreased DRAMATICALLY! My hair is softer than it has been in years. I love my wooden brush! I didn't think I would. Previously when I had used a wooden brush, it always seemed to hurt when I brushed my hair. Now I realize it was because my hair was so unhealthy it tangled so easily. I was also a little skeptical about the shampoo because of some of the reviews I read but I tried it and I am absolutely loving the Calia Hydrating Shampoo and Conditioner. I also love the oil! For the first time in years, my scalp doesn't itch and my hair is softer than ever! I'm also loving the effects MSM is having on my hair. I feel like that had been a huge contributor to the reduction of my hair fall.
    Like I said it's only been 2 1/2 months but I am excited to see how much more my hair improves with time. I follow all her rules but the ones I listed are my favorites.

      Caro B. Hello Caro B, I am the opposite, my hair grows way too fast and I never enjoy any haircut long enough because in one month, my hair has grown so much that it does not look like I have had a haircut. Anyhow for me hair care is about nutrition and natural products. Eating lots of green vegetables is the key to long beautiful hair, incorporate about a teaspoon of fenugreek seeds and coconut oil with a a teaspoon of fenugreek seeds into it. Leave the oil to soak up the protein from the fenugreek seeds for about one month then start oiling your hair with it. As in do not pour down oil, a few drops in your hand into your scalp and massage gently. Leave in for about one hour then wash. I used to do this every month. Now I don't do it anymore, because as I said, my hair grows wayyy to fast. Best of luck!

And she only shampoos her hair once a week. The idea is to use quality products on your hair, as Sarah says. I think she takes really good care of herself and it shows. Sooo, to break it down,
    1.) TRY TO FIND AND BUY YOURSELF A wooden BRUSH!! It reduces the risk of making your hair all static-y and gives your scalp a good (and healthy) massage as well. Brush daily.
    *MASSAGE SCALP WITH FINGERS OFTEN, TOO- IT STIMULATES HAIR GROWTH
    2.) Oil it up as often as you can; either cover your hair, scalp to tips, in oil before bed then take it out in the morning- OR- put oil on the ends of your hair daily and then maybe scalp whenever convenient.THE MORE ORGANIC THE BETTER
    *JOJOBA OIL is best for thin hair! GET if possible) (Rosemary also good for stimulating circulation to the scalp, makes hair softer
    3.) - When shampooing, be sure the shampoo has little to no chemical ingredients (the more natural, the better). Massage scalp while shampooing. *READ labels on the back! RECOMMEND: Colia
    * SHAMPOO and CONDITION every 4-6 days NOT EVERYDAY
    4.) CUT DOWN ON HEAT USE IN HAIR!
    - No hot water, No blow dryers, No hair straighteners OR curlers!!
    5.) PROTECT YOUR HAIR!! Anyway to avoid it getting all tangled and matted- again, brushing, braiding, and buns... avoid anything that'll tug at your hair, or move it all over the place- like going to bed with your hair down and out. Tie it up, but with a loose hairstyle. (Braids, buns, ...)
    6.) EATTTT. Have healthy foods as often as possible and eat MORE often in general. Food plays a huge roll. (Eat foods with lots of minerals, DRINK lots of water, and as much healthy food as you can MORE often!!)
    7.) Trim the ends every once in awhile!
    8.) MY OWN PERSONAL TIP: Biotin. It's a vitamin, it helps with HAIR and NAIL growth.!

It's become a big part of my diet and since taking it my hair has reached it's natural thickness once again and grown like crazy and my nails aren't ugly or fragile anymore. Definitely worth using!!

    To Sarah,
    I found this video toward the beginning of 2016. At that time, my hair was totally wrecked. It was so damaged from a million things and was in such poor condition and I was fed up. I wanted to grow my hair long again (even though I'd had it long when I was younger, I always used flatirons and dyes and treated it horribly so it was gross-ong, not beautiful long) and so I went to RUclips looking for answers. I watched your video and before it I had no idea how luxurious and calming hair care could be and the benefits that could come of it. I got a haircut and set out to start what has now become a real journey of healing with my hair but also myself. I invested in oils and good shampoo and conditioner and learnt as much as I could about healthy hair. I didn't realise at the start, but most of my hair was damaged basically up to the root, and I essentially started a process of growing/cutting/growing/cutting/growing/cutting and so on. I also have trichotillomania which means i had/and still somewhat have certain balding spots that I hope to one day overcome and grow out. Its Nov 2018 now, and my hair is at my shoulders. It was probably BSL when I started, but over time I became more invested in the health of my hair rather than the length. My hair has changed so much - its got thickness back, its shiny (god it was so awful cutting out the flatiron because it was so damaged that the only way it looked good, like you said, was by styling it even more - endless cycle), and its just healthy and something that I can almost (once a bit more of my balding grows out) be 100% proud of. Thank you for making this video, you really inspired a change in my life and I can say that it feels so nice to have thick healthy hair that is at its fullest potential rather than being horribly damaged and wrecked. I really can't thank you enough. Now that its at my shoulders and so healthy (for the most part) all the way down to the shoulders, I feel as though I am ready to start growing it out to make it long like I wanted to when I first stumbled upon this video about two and a half years ago. I now know how to care for my hair and I am so excited to start the length process and this video means so much to me.
    I know its 'just hair', but I've had a lot of things go wrong and mental illness up the wall and all these terrible things - and it just feels nice to feel good in my body and have a great mane that keeps me cosy.
    Love, Julia.

    Omg love your hair in this.Looks so gorgeous.It looks almost blonde with a gorgeous wave and love the growing out side bangs. Also it hangs down in tousled waves and is much more in style than how it looks now.Personally I feel it is far too long now and doesn’t show off your pretty face but this look is so lovely on you.A friend says you should chop your hair to your shoulders then give a week by week update ,imagine all the fans that would watch but personally I would love to see your hair like this again you look so lovely in this. I've been following these tips for 3 years, with some modifications, and my hair has gone from shoulder blade to waist length! It would probably have gotten even longer if I didn't get a haircut a few months ago. Modifications: I found most of the oils that she recommended to be too heavy for my low-porosity, fine hair. Instead, I use Fable & Mane scalp oil. I also take powdered collagen and a hair vitamin every day. For shampoo/conditioner, I use Jessicurl. The only thing I haven't been able to do much about is my hair density, which maxes out at medium. Oh well -- genetics! Thanks for such a great video.

And my main styles are, a pony or bun, and I always keep my hair in a braid for bed. It’s nice to see a RUclipsr doing something I’ve been doing for years.
    Also I use a shampoo that I add to, I add a bit of oil and a keratin powder sometimes honey if I have it. And a method I call dry condition where I put my conditioner in before I shower and let it sit.

      +LE123LE123 What could be happening to people like you is your hair is freaking out about being washed so often so it makes a ton of oil to try to compensate for the lack of, and so by washing your hair you are making it more oily. That happens to a lot of people. The only way I could think of to reverse it is to try to suffer through the oil for a couple months then your scalp should adapt to its new freedom and produce less oils.

    • @LE123LE123
      @LE123LE123 9 лет назад

      +WhitePianoLily I tried stretching washing but I suffer from a scalp condition and that caused terrible itching and lead to bleeding scabs and very uncomfortable all around. Seboreah dermatitis (sorry didn't spell that right) is a fungus that feeds off of oils/dead skin cells. I have naturally oily scalp and need to keep it squeaky clean. I've found conditioning the length of my hair now prevents excess drying :)

    I think the importance of the shower filter is not emphasized enough compared to other advice, yet it is crucial. I realized it when I spent the holidays at my mothers (tap water is super hard and full of lime where she lives) after a year of using a shower filter at my place. It was a disaster for my hair, which became super hard to detangle, brittle, it felt like there was always a residue on it. I'm now back at my place and it's much more manageable again but one month later it still becomes greasy faster than it used to after each wash (I guess my scalp needs time to go back to normal)... so now I have proof that the quality of water does matter very much, not only he products I use (which were exactly the same when I was at my mother's). Thank you for this piece of advice, it only lasts a few seconds in the video, but it really makes a huge difference for me and I think it isn't stressed enough in most haircare advice out there.

    Listening to you talk about hair care for 13 minutes was pure heaven! :-D Also, for the brush thing, what would you say someone with super curly hair should do? I wouldn't brush it while dry, because it would break. :/ Would you suggest to brush it while wet in the shower? And how do you know the shower water purifier will fit your shower thingy? Another question is I remember you talking about MSM in one of your first videos and saying you might do an update on if you actually saw a difference and benefits. Have you really and would you affirm it is worth trying it? Finally, have you tried putting homemade flax seed gel on your hair? It makes it unbelievably soft and for me, it is perfect for my curly hair since it defines the curls so beautifully! (Still need to try marshmallow root, as CloudyApples has suggested) Thanks for this video Sarah, I truly enjoyed it xo

      I wouldn't recommend brushing your hair when it is wet. I heard that that's when your hair is at its weakest. I haven't done any research on it though, so I'm not completely sure. The flax seed gel sounds interesting! I'm going to have to give that a try (;

    • @Solitude1990
      @Solitude1990 10 лет назад

      From one curly hair person to another (I know my profile pic shows it straight, but that's because I straighten it). I have really long curly/wavy hair, and I always detangle it with a detangling brush before I shower. I find it's a lot easier to wash my hair that way. I then detangle/comb it after I shower. A brush isn't bad for curly hair, depending on the texture of your hair. From what I can see, brushing your hair when dry would be fine as long as you brush correctly(from ends to roots).
      However, whatever you do, DO NOT brush your hair while it's wet if you have curly hair. Only comb it/detangle it with a detangling brush.

    • @TheYoghurt42
      @TheYoghurt42 10 лет назад

      It is true for straight hair that it is at its weakest when wet, but curly hair is very different in its structure. For curly hair is best to detangle wet. Note I say detangle - I wouldn't recommend using a brush on curly hair. While in the shower, coat your hair thoroughly in conditioner and then use a wide-toothed comb or your fingers and work from the ends upwards. This is the gentlest method for curly hair because when dry the hairs grab onto eachother and clump together, whereas water and conditioner allows them to slide past eachother. Look up the 'Curly Girl Method' if you want more info, I found it a goldmine in terms of learning to care for my wavy/curly hair! :)

    • @amandalouhart
      @amandalouhart 10 лет назад +1

      Use a wooden wide toothed comb instead of a paddle brush. The point is to have the porous wood combing through to redistribute the oil. The oil doesn't cling to plastic bristles like it does the wood.

    • @SingForHisGlory777
      @SingForHisGlory777 10 лет назад

      I also have curly/wavy hair. And I have done research, you shouldn't use a brush at all. You will damage your curly hair. What I do is I detangle my hair with my fingers not with brush. Then when I am in shower and my hair is wet, after I shampoo it I detangle it again and then after condition I detangle my hair with fingers again (in shower). I just found out that there is SheaMoisture Raw Shea Butter Extra-Moisture Detangler at Target for $12. Didn't know about it, maybe I should give it a try! :))

    FINALLY! Someone who has the same hair that I do! You are beautiful! I thought I had figured out my hair but now that I am starting my first teaching job, I want to look more put together and professional. I can't straighten my hair every day but braids and other do's make me look sooo much younger than I am. Thank you for your tips!

    My hair is very shiny, long and thick BUT it has NO volume (It's thick but not very fluffy if you know what I mean)! It's very straight. If I try to get my hair wavy or curly in any way it will just be straight again in like 30 minutes. (I use heat like once every 6 months)
    I want that gorgeous beachy look!

      Try spraying fine flexible hairspray into your hair before you curl it ☺️

      My best friend has the exact same hair type and the best thing to do is to braid your hair right after you shower into two or three sections (depending on how thick your hair is) and then un-braiding it when it's dry (I suggest doing this over night). Then brush it out lightly with a wide-toothed comb and if you still have issues keeping the waves, I suggest sea salt spray or possibly hairspray.

      wash your hair as normal and braid it when your hair is still very damp. best thing to do is braid your hair all over. the more braids the better. take the bobbles/elastics out in the morning and take the braids out. you might get more volume if you also brush the braids out.
      you could also try blow drying your hair bending over to create more volume from your roots. also use dry shampoo (for volume) at your roots too x

    As much as I'd love to brush my hair with a wooden brush...my hair is curly and turns into a bush when I brush it. Any suggestions?

      combing your hair with a wide tooth comb is better than using any brush. For me anyways. Its all about what causes less damage to your hair.

      +Priya C Yeah I have very wavy hair and I found that a wide comb is far better then the most high quality brush you can buy.

      +Priya C Hi! I just did a video on growing long curly hair and I agree using a brush is great for distributing oil through the length of your hair but you should do it the night before you wash your hair so it won't matter if it turns into a bush. As far as what to use for STYLING, definitely a wide tooth comb as others mentioned

    I used to have EXTREMELY thin hair that would literally fall out in clumps every time I would run my fingers through my hair. The top of my scalp was honestly, just my scalp as I would have bald spots on top. I have tried EVERYTHING that you've mentioned in the video throughout my 3 year ordeal and although the texture of my hair changed, the growth didn't. I didn't know what to do, so i went to about 3 dermatologists and they basically told me it's genetic, that nothing could be done and to try rogaine. I asked my GP for a blood test to see maybe something internally was causing me to lose my hair and low and behold I found my answer. I had a severe vitamin D and B12 deficiency. My doctor started me on a high dose Vitamin D treatment and I took B12 & Omega 3 pills everyday and after 4 months, my hair has become extremely strong and I no longer had visible bald spots on the top of my scalp. So my advice to all of you with noticeably thinning hair, please go talk to your doctor about getting a blood test... I wish I would have done this 4 years ago but you live and you learn, right? :)

    I praise you for knowing how to braid your hair because my sister has long hair but it is so thin and damaged and she never lets me braid it. It is such a waste. Well done. You look beautiful.

    I want long hair soo bad; I cut half my hair off so I could give it a fresh start bc my ends where awful, I gave up blow drying, iron drying and everything heat, I deep condition at least once a week, I'm super gentle when it comes to brushing it, natural oils are literally my hair's best friend, but my hair just doesn't seem to grow! Not a tiny bit! IM SO DESPERATE!!!!!

      Rub castor oil into your scalp and let it sit overnight! That's what I did (with coconut oil on my ends) and my hair grew so fast. You just may need to shampoo twice afterwards.

    I have very thick hair and my story started a few months ago and I had lots of stress from school and my hair was falling out. my hair is finally growing back and I seem to be happy now I’m at a new school with positive energy and my hair is at its best. So my tip is that always try not to stress and be in a positive environment.

    I do agree with your hair care method! Lots of great point but I am also a licensed Aveda cosmetologist (which uses plant based products) and I am a huge believer in trimming the hair to keep the ends healthy and even. I know a bunch of people have a huge fear of going to a salon and getting a bad haircut but that also goes in to choosing an experienced and high end stylist. Aveda salons are most likely a safe bet..amongst other reputable places. Don't pick stylists based on coupons or just strictly based on level (master stylist, junior) schedule a consultation (98% of the time are free) and judge their confidence and knowledge..that way you avoid going to someone blind folded and end up worrying about your end result. Hope this helps some people with their salon phobia :)

      I'm definitely one of those people with salon phobia...go in for a trim come out and half my hair is gone :/ why do so many stylists do that??

    • @NadjiaLemo
      @NadjiaLemo 10 лет назад

      @glossyqueen
      It's because some people have poor listening skills. I always recommend a consultation when you are meeting a new stylist. Always bring pictures and be very descriptive with what you are looking for and also always mention what you don't want. This way if the stylist seems unsure or uneasy to you, you don't book with them! Never think " oh let's just cross our fingers and home it goes well." Hope this helps!

      yes it totally is the poor listening skills! take a ruler to make sure you both have the same idea of what half an inch is! usually there is a ruler on the hairdressers comb...well here in Australia anyway?
