Controversial take: I live 40 min from Cedar Point but after my 5 initial visits last summer & fall, Kings Island is my new home park. I'm pissed at myself for waiting til after they tore down Vortex to go.

Oh man, I was there that day and one of your friends sat by me on Mystic Timbers. I thought that was you but I didn't want to say anything and be that guy (Oh My God! It's Russell Crowe). Anyway, love the channel, and how you can switch from being a coaster idiot to providing in-depth reviews.

I went to mason for thanksgiving and passed by kings island, i was so happy to see vertical construction from the highway ☺️
I saw a big rainbow after I left Great Adventure for the first time. Those Beast jokes were great.
I legit couldn't ride Vortex without a hat or a hood of some sort. I'm 5'1" so every single turn my head slammed into the shoulder restraints and by the end my ears would always be beat red and I'd get a horrible headache. When I had my hood up to soften the blows it was actually a kinda enjoyable ride, and my partner and I rode it like 7 times in a row because the line started at the building. Also, you rode the red racer which is a lot rougher than the blue one, I pretty sure it's the one that used to go backwards and that might be why it's rougher, but take that with a grain of salt. Flight of Fear is my favorite ride because of the theming, Kings Island doesn't have a lot of heavily themed rides so it stands out. I also like how it's in the dark, so all the turns are unexpected and no two rides feel the same. If you can't tell, I pretty much lived at Kings Island for two summers, lol. We had a food pass one year so we'd legit go there just go eat and maybe go on a ride or two by myself. Backlot is my second favorite also because of the theming, and also the FIRE. Particularly awesome at night.
i agree with pretty much everything you said :) i found red racer to run smoother on my trips though, i guess it’s just different for everybody
The fact that KI played taps at the last minute of the park being open is just salt in the wound that you’ve already put hand sanitizer on
can’t wait to go back to KI. haven’t been since 2009 or so. but i’m definitely going to miss Vortex. it makes me super sad to see arrow coasters get torn down.

It's funny to see a line that big for Vortex. I went to Kings Island earlier this year (before they announced Vortex closure) and it was a walk on all day. Every other ride had at least a 30 min wait.
People showed no love for that ride for years! Such a slept on coaster, it’ll be missed

Pretty light crowd for Kings Island. My local park I am there a few times a week. But seriously though I just can not believe that Kings Island is not the busiest park per days open in the entire world. I understand it is like 3rd or whatever in the highest earning, But per day. I usually can not find a SLOWER day there any more and 2020 will be even worse. BTW Fast Pass is not in the budget, So for me that is rarely if ever an option. Great content Ryan, Still a top fan. This was cool seeing you in my home park, I do not think you have but 1 other video (in the park) and maybe a 2 min stretch of another, and then your best video ever on the Beast. Such an awesome breakdown, a huge plus for sure.

Kings Island is my home park! Mason is actually my home town, and you can see my old high school (Kings, shocker) from the Eiffel tower. I used to walk to the park after class. I still have a season pass but probably won't visit again until 2021 because I have a newborn now.

Glad you guys made it KI is my hometown park and have loved it since my first trip out there. Me and my fiancé took our vacation and saw some of the parks Pennsylvania has to offer and Hershey park was mind blowing unfortunately we didn’t have nearly as good of an experience at Dorney park which we couldn’t believe because it’s a cedar fair park, either way I hope you enjoyed the park nothing like being the little cousin to cedar point
Also did any of you ever get the chance to ride the Son of Beast when it was in operation? I’m always curious on coaster channels if they were able to ride the son as well as the original

I was actually there that day! I see you got a shot of Caroline at Vortex at 4:16. I got to ride Vortex with her at 1am earlier that day. After 8 rides on Vortex that day, I left at 2pm before it got horrible and went to Kentucky Kingdom.

Between Vortex, Invertigo, and The Beast, I had actual bruises and felt 30 years older going to Cedar Point the next day. Kinda ruined the whole day. Flight of Fear was fun and didn't hurt me at all tho.

I flew to Ohio to get on vortex before it closed on the last weekend it was opened I'm have to say I'm happy I got the credit it ran good for ride from 1987.
The only time I was able to ride Mystic, it broke down all three times I got in line with my fast lane pass. I was so pissed lol

Man I used to idolize this coaster as a kid, sad I'll never get to ride it, I finally have enough money and time to travel to some parks and I find out it's gone! Guess I'll be living vicariously through youtube videos lol. Should be going to KD soon to ride Anaconda at least, and I pray I get a chance to ride Viper but it's 2300 miles away

The fact that this is my home park and I have never seen it this crazy is shocking the longest line I have waited in here is 20 minutes for mystic timbers and 20 for diamondback
My favorite non Herschend park. Worth 4 hrs each way for me. Yet CP is 45 min.
Okay. Bit of a comment with multiple points. First, holy shit we were at Kings Island on the same day. And we both got Fast Lane (wasn't interested in Plus). Next, holy shit I was also sleep deprived except not as much as you because I live in western Indiana and actually got some sleep the night before. Even though staying at the park for twelve hours and driving all the way back in one go was a really bad idea. Also, yes, Flight of Fear is definitely a one and done for me. Side note, night rides on Diamondback are the freaking bomb.
Also, I'm gonna be that guy. At 6:25. That footage music. I must know the name of it. I've been curious for too long. Please. Please.

as somebody that lives 2 hours away from King's Island I can't imagine driving an entire day just to go to King's Island. But I guess that's just cause 2 of the best amusement parks in the world are less than 3 hours from me so I've never had a reason to go farther for an amusement park.

Tennessee Tornado is probably the smoothest. But Demon is certainly a great Arrow looper! I love all the theming & the crazy airtime on the drop (riding in the back).

Got a laugh over the Flight of Fear comments. Yes, it was wicked with the over the shoulder restraints. Especially not being able to see when the elements were coming, you just got bashed into the harness repeatedly. Coming back into the station I pretty routinely saw some stars and that was usually a single ride per day coaster.

Went there for 1 day October 2019 on a Saturday was the worst decision. Only rode 4 things delirium banshee Diamondback and mystic. And I wanted to ride the beast for ages but didn’t get to ride it😭
Yo while riding the beast last year for my friends birthday(during covid) I noticed a piece of track from the vortex while riding it. It was just sitting there in the woods and it sucks that I came around coasters so late in my life so it means never in my life can I ride a ride like that. Still covid free btw😂

I went there on the last day of operation to try to ride to vortex, and the line was just way too long, I’m happy I got to ride it once back in May 2018, but I at least got footage of it. Rip Vortex :( Also, why is there tons of glitches in the footage?
