- A late October hike to Mt. LeConte in the Great Smoky Mountains by hiking up from Newfound Gap via the Appalachian Trail to the Boulevard trail (including a short visit to The Jumpoff) and return by hiking down the Alum Cave trail.

I did this hike in the opposite direction. My favorite part was the Boulevard Trail because it was just me. Alum Cave and AT were kind of crowded. Alum Cave trail is beautiful.
Had my wife pick me up at Newfound Gap five hours after I started. Older now so it would take me longer now.
Every time I have hiked the Boulevard I have seen no more than 4 people. This is definitely one of the joys of this trail. The views aren't too shabby either, lol (when not raining). Thanks for watching!
Hi did you see any bears or rattlers?
We did not see any on this specific hike but I have seen plenty of bears on both of these trails. Rattlesnakes are a bit rarer to see if you are sticking to the main trails. Be aware of your surroundings in both cases and you should be great!

The first is a screenshot of a custom map I made using All Trails, the other is a video created using the Relive app which uses your recorded hikes/runs/etc from an Apple watch or the file from recording via All Trails to create the route and video.
