I’m new to F1 and did not know McLaren brought Hamilton in to be teammates with Alonso. My jaw DROPPED when i saw the clip of him. It’s truly crazy to see how far he’s come, and just dominated the grid early on
Remember max fans thinks it's all the car and he's dog shit. While he litery beat one of the most stacked grids since until 2021. F1 history is important cause early 2000s f1 was nutty
That was certainly McLaren's public narrative at the time, but McLaren always favoured Ham. Hamilton in the early years received hate not dissimilar from Verstappen, but Alonso could be fairly petty himself. I love all of them. It was a mess! Great time to be a fan.
@@peachulemon He did really good in 2007/08, when mclaren had the best car, but then fell off when their car started to slip back. I'd argue the early 2010's were a lot more stacked, closer championship battles, multiple teams contending for race wins. 2010/2012 are two of the closest and best seasons in F1. 07/08 only had 2 teams in the fight, and in 08 Heiki was signed on to be a #2, so Lewis didn't even have a teammate battle going on.
i think Fangio deserved a little more attention, Fangio was a car mechanic from argentina so you could call him an engine whisperer he knew exactly to wich extend he can use his engine and in an era of failure this was crucial leading him to 5 world titles he also had one of the most crazy comebacks at one race at the nurburgring where he started the race with half fuel, made a pitstop costing him 78 seconds and managed to win at the end with putting in record lap after record lap. btw before the pitstop he was ahead 30 seconds so he managed to gain annother 43 seconds in 10 laps around the nurburgring wich at this time was about 25kms long

Fun fact: a lot of the early F1 drivers had just come out of WWII, and must’ve thought “At least it is safer than being shot at”
Yea probably
I remember this from a documentary about motorsport safety. It's correct that "this is the time of the year where we at least didn't get shot at".
I reckon a lot were former pilots who experienced a high speed thrill they never experienced before and chased the closest thing to it
